Default Frustrations

I think I really need to resume my therapy sessions but I'm afraid it's just not going to help anyways.

Today my husband had a tooth implant so I had to drive him back from the clinic. After 20 minutes of driving all the muscles in my neck and shoulder were shot which resulted in a painful day. I'm not used to having pain every day anymore so it made me really upset. Not necessarily the pain itself, but the fact that such a simple task as driving can cripple me. I also got nostalgic about dental assisting as I saw everyone working away and it made me wonder if I will ever be in the working force again.

I know it's early and I'm impatient but I can't help how I feel. Sorry about the rant.

I think your frustration is quite normal. It is hard not to be able to do everything we used to do. Give yourself a little more time and see how it goes. This is a major injury and that takes a while to heal.

I would talk to the dr about pt if you think it might help. I really hope you get to a place where you can do what you want and soon. Just be easy and don't beat yourself up so much... you will get there.

BTW I was jealous when you said you weren't having daily pain.
Good luck.

Recovery will have set backs as you learn what you can tolerate yet, and what not quite yet...

Thank you Jo and Daesin! I am trying to reset my mind daily, mornings are hard especially when I wake up and "remember" the situation I'm in. I am still learning patience. Actually I have been very patient in general, it's just lately that things have been getting to me.

I think I'm going to try the stretches I learned in physical therapy before the surgeries. My surgeon does not allow PT because it's bad for arterial and venous TOS but I am allowed to stretch.

Daesin, are you getting surgery soon or have you had it already?

During my non surgical recovery from my work injury RSI/TOS , I had many times where I felt OK to do things them paid for it later on, kind of like mini flares.
It took quite awhile to find the limits of what wouldn't set me off at first.
Often it is baby steps with surgery or if no surgery....

Some gentle stretching should be good - but don't push or force anything..

Looks like it was a trigger point, my husband massaged it with Biofreeze and it feels a little better. I haven't gotten muscle spasms and trigger points in a really long time.

Nelly,
So glad it wasn't anything major...and kudos to hubby for lending a hand

I will be in St Louis in March to determine treatment. I wish it were sooner but will take what I can get. Insurance is a bear to work with at times.

Slow and steady seems to be the rate of progress from what I read.
Keep healing!

Thanks Daesin and good luck with the appointment. My shoulder is now back to normal, at least the flares don't last very long.

That's so good to hear.
I would be thrilled to be in a position where its not all day everyday. Soon though, soon.
I know from my knee that once you start getting better it is a much harder hit when you have to step back.

Soon enough! I was also in pain 24/7 no matter what I did or didn't do. It was very depressing.
