I spaced out a lot in front of friends in the past few months and its def scary for them and for me. I also had a stutter and couldnt get my words out for awhile....when im stressed now or fatigued, that comes back. I initially got better, went back to work 3 weeks after my injury, and saw a movie that set me off....headaches came back with a vengeance. Then trying to work a 12 hour nightshift for a week just made things worse. 1 month after my accident, i actually went to vegas for my birthday! Can u imagine! I was very medicated, very unwell, and in awful pain the whole time. I had no idea my symptoms would still be there a month after. I was told 2 weeks and i would be better. Luckily while i was working in that short stint that i was back, i spoke to our neurologist and asked her what she thought and she was like 'why are you here?!?? you need to see me immediately!" I got better again at my 3 month mark and went back again to work....and lasted 2 months in absolute agony with horrible headaches, dizziness, fatigue, fogginess, anxiety, depression that my doctor took me out of work against my wishes. I now agree she did the right thing, but its hard to know when you need to stop and just rest. If you are gonna see a neurologist, i would suggest knowing a little about the doctor before spending your money. Not all neurologists understand PCS like they should. They normally have a better understanding of what medications are appropriate in this situation. Also, getting hit on the back of the head and the symptoms you describe with the tingling in your fingers and pain in your neck, i would wonder if you have any cervical issues. Have you had a c-spine series done- xrays of you neck to check for fractures or alignment issues? I would probably start there for those symptoms. After seeing a doctor and having xrays done, i would see a cervical specialist chiropractor. Best to rest as much as you can and stay away from your triggers. I try not to drive at night because the lights bother me so much. Stay away from loud noisy or over crowded places because the anxiety is worse there. You are not going crazy...you are healing from a brain injury. Hoping your symptoms lessen soon and you heal quickly!!

Suffered a TBI with PCS on April 25th 2011 from multiple blows to the head from falling, unconscious for 12 hours with no memory of event. Hit the back of my head, and above right eye. MRI and CT negative. Symptoms included constant headaches (migraine, pressure, tension, icepicks), dizziness, tinnitus, visual changes, photophobia, fatigue, "spacing out", word finding difficulties, depression, and emotional lability. Began Healing in November 2011 after starting acupuncture and Healing Touch (a nurturing energy therapy that promotes relaxation and pain relief). I went back to work in February 2012. Ive been symptom free since July 2012. Very happy, positive, energetic and working out every day, doing yoga, and living a normal life again! I also began taking Healing Touch classes in November 2011 and completed 5 Levels of Healing Touch Certificate Program that included a 1 year mentorship to become a Healing Touch International Practitioner in June 2013. I am so pleased to offer this wonderful healing therapy to my patients, friends, and clients. |
