Anyone know if they have Aspergers? I guess you have to ask a doctor, but I have some of the symptoms.
Seems talking a lot & boring someone w/a topic not of their interest is a big sign. But I don't do that. But I did have a lack of common sense & clumsiness before the big TBI 15 months ago. Oh, and anyone else get in arguments where you are insulted, physically threatened, threatened to be thrown out, and then ignored when you try to speak? I guess I should take a painkiller at bedtime- just to be safe. Cause lying down really increses the pain. Thanks- |

Jeffrey-
Did you self-diagnose this or did someone suggest this? Do you have trouble socializing, (before and now)? Do you make eye contact with people when you have a conversation? Do you sometimes obsess over certain hobbies, interests or activities? |

Jeffrey,
Is the problem you or could it be HE has the behavior problem? Many people have many of the symptoms of Aspergers. If we took a poll with a list of all of the symptoms that combine to form an Aspergers diagnosis, I bet most of us would have 25% or more of the Aspergers symptoms. I know I do. Talking too much is a common symptom of PCS. Aspergers is a subset of Autism. It appears to me that you may be more likely to struggle with OCD and anxiety disorders of which OCD is one. But that is just my out of focus view from reading your posts from afar. OCD and anxiety disorders are also common to PCS. My PCS has caused me to suffer from some OCD like symptoms.

Jeffrey,
First, as Mark said, Asperger's is under there Autism Spectrum umbrella. Any sort of spectrum type disorder means that we all as human beings in theory fit on said spectrum somewhere. That being said, pre-accident I was working towards my Masters in Ed for early intervention for autism. It is likely that as Mark said, you may experience some of the symptoms and assume you have Asperger's. However, based on what you've told me it's highly more likely that it is related to your PCS than having an autism diagnosis. (Ex. OCD like stuff, emotional highs and lows, etc). I wouldn't stress over it, or try diagnosing yourself. It just adds stress that you don't need. Your PCS is likely what's at play here. |

My grandson has asperger's. It is a high functioning form of autism. Social behavior is the main issue. Lack of eye contact is a big symptom. Grandson has meltdowns in public places or around too many people (even a room full of family).
