Hi!
![]() It's me again! Sorry for so much posting it's just that I'm really stressed out and can't understand the doctors. So, for some reason I'm still having PCS from heading a ball. It has been two moths since then. And my worst symptom has always been brain fog/feeling like in a dream which is not cool! I'm always really tired also. Are there any other methods besides restind g to get rid of this horrible dream feeling. Everything is so unrealistic! Any tips? Thanks! |

Lui,
What are the doctors saying? Have you had any exams of your neck, specifically your upper neck? It can get injured and cause inflammation that can slow the blood flow through the vertebral arteries. The brain still gets blood from the carotid arteries but not as much in total. A concussion can also mess up hormones of all types. An under-production of Thyroid hormone can cause weakness/fatigue. It probably will take some digging by a doctor or two to figure this out. Does your school have an athletic trainer? If so, maybe you can get a referral to a better doctor. Were you playing on the school team or was it just recreational/intramural? Schools usually provide good care for students injured during a school team practice or game. As you say, this risks getting sent home. Try to not act anxious. It can give them a reason to send you home. If you can show patience and discipline, they will be more likely to give you a chance. Are you continuing to play basketball? Are you active in social groups? Are the studies challenging? Please be honest so we can give you valid comments. My best to you.

Hi Mark, Thanks for anwering!
![]() They made a scan of my neck spinal column in ER because I was complaining about constant clicking. It's still there. With every movement I do my neck is clicking. Also in my upper had I think. But they told me it might be a bone out of place and nothing serious. I went to my athletic doctor who really helped me over the first month. I was taking fish oil+ibuprofen(9 per day) and was sent to a specialist because my school is really taking care. They checked blood pressure, the mental scedule, eyes etc. and one time, I was still complaining about the neck thing, they checked my neck. The doctor heard the clicking but said as long it is not hurting it should be fine. Sometimes there is a really strange feeling in my fore-brain. Ok, sound weird now. It feels like a tickle to my brain, just really weird. Since the concussion I'm also tensed a lot and I'm stressed really often. I quit to play basketball, such a stupid idea. My parents send me Vitamin C+Magnesium and I started taking fish oil again. I'll try to act normal as much as I can, I'm just so worried I will run around with this brain fog my whole life! |

Thanks! It won't stay forever right?
![]() Maybe I should go home! If it won't stop here and my doctors are not taking care anymore, maybe it's the right thing to get medical help in germany... ![]() |

Lui,
I was in and out of that brain fog for a couple of months but it went away and I bet yours will go away soon. I know it is terrifying. I found that the more active I was the more likely I was to have brain fog the next day. I also found that if I rested and meditated (I do mindfulness meditation which my neurologist recommended), and ate healthy (no sugar or processed food), I was more likely to be able to think clearly. So, I think you can take some of the above actions to improve how you feel-you may find that you have more control than you think. My experience is that if the PCS does not resolve on its own then you will likely need to visit various docs for your symptoms. I don't know if that would be easier for you to do in Germany. Can you drop a class or two to give you more time to rest? Concussedlawyer |

Thanks for answering! I am just getting so frustated about wasting the whole exchange year. How can it be that someone hit in the face and losing conciousness is feeling alright after one week, why am I still stuck in there just because of hitting a freaking ball. Because I did not rest enough or what!
![]() But thanks a lot for helping me! ![]() |

I know you have had a concussion but I wonder if there is not another underlying condition that this has but highlighted.
If you are not feeling any improvement ask for a second opinion, can it do any harm???? In any case I hope that things resolve and that you can improve without having to go back to Germany. |

Ok, just made appointment with neurologist! Hope that will solve the problem a bit. It's just that some people are telling me that I'm having pcs and other are saying, how can that be pcs, must be something different. I don't know what's wrong with me and I wish somebody could just tell me lol!
Thank you for the answers so far! ![]() The last thing I want to do is to leave this awesome country where I have met so many nice people! ![]() |

Hi Lui. I have no help to offer you but I have the same symptoms as you! I have had brain fog for years now. It's just like living in a dream, like you said, and it's awful. Occasionally, resting will help, but it never completely goes away. It's gotten worse since my last concussion a few weeks ago. I also have the clicking in my neck, and it seems like, in my head. I'm going to the neurologist soon too. If you find out anything from the neurologist, please let us know! I can't imagine how hard this must be for you, dealing with this in another country, away from your family. Best of luck to you!
