Well another Saturday night of me sitting at home with the dog while my family is out of town having fun(happy for them)I have seen it all this past week.
I no longer can drive on passenger side of car...I have to drive!!I still get panic and nausea from peoples driving!(I think certain people think it's funny) I had been in a yelling match fighting for myself with a state worker...I got in a yelling match with my main case manager...Nobody understands me!!! I have been feeling a little better since I got medication(2weeks now)with a few melt downs and physical symptoms....Reason of the melt downs then trigger physical symptoms....NOBODY UNDERSTANDS ME BUT VERY FEW....My fuse is short, frustrating, and overwhelmed! I just rather live like a hermit because every time I make the effort to try this socialize thing or just communicate with people I experience a melt down.... How does other survivors deal or cope with toxic people?(In my eyes their all toxic to me)Sad but true....Feedback is appreciated greatly

There was a period a few months into recovery that my doctor sat down with my boyfriend and said that until I was further recovered, I needed other people to help me fight my battles. So for example, instead of me dealing with my completely clueless lawyer, my mom and boyfriend dealt with him directly and made decisions. If it was something they felt I needed to be included in, they would talk to me about it, adn then get back to the lawyer.
As for toxic people, if they aren't supporting you then forget about them. You can always go back later and try to build a relationship with them. But right now you've got enough to fight back against to recover, that you dont' need the added negativity on top of it. I had to make the concious decision that if people weren't being supportive, they were not going to be a part of my recovery. I simply couldn't allow my precious little amount of energy to be drained in such an unproductive way, letting their negativity suck the life out of me. Build a support system with family and friends that understand. Perhaps you need to have a serious talk with those around you and say that you need them on your team, helping you get better, NOT negativity and hurtful ways. As for your caseworker and the state, is there someone in your family, a friend etc that could make those calls for you? I know it's a big thing to ask someone, but it really is necessary that you avoid that stress and anger if you want to move forward. A lot of times they will want you to be a part of the call at the beginning to tell them that you are okay with this person speaking on your behalf. But that way, you aren't the one fighting, you have a freind/family member fighting for you.

oh! Have family and friends what "You look great" on you tube. It's a six part series that gives the world a view into TBI/PCS from the view of the injured person. Its very well done and will help others to understand that your symptoms are normal for PCS and that you need their help to get better.
