It seems like I function well when I'm in a good mood.
But, I'm only in a good mood when I function well. Hmmmmm.

What happened: I was randomly assaulted from behind in June of 2011. I was knocked unconscious for an unknown amount of time (less than 30 minutes) and have no memory of the event. CT scan showed contusion and hematoma of the left frontal lobe. I spent 3 days in the hospital. Diagnosed with Post-Concussion Syndrome in September 2011. Currently have Medicaid, Medicare and SSI. Current symptoms: Brain fog, mild memory issues, problems with spontaneity, occasional spacing out, word finding difficulties, tinnitus in right ear and some other things that I can't explain. Life after the brain injury: 4 years after the injury, I'm engaged to my beautiful girlfriend of 5 years, I'm the CEO of my own business, Notorious Labs, I've taught myself how to program complex games and apps which is a feat I never thought I'd accomplish and now live a semi-normal life with very mild PCS symptoms. Slowly but surely regaining my life back. |

I know how you feel. For me I started to feel improvements in my recovery when I tried to stay positive even when in pain. Ie if i was out for dinner with my parents I would feel terrible, headache, neck pain, etc... but I found if I complained about it it would be worse. Just try and stay positive even when your in pain and hopefully some improvement will come! Good luck to you. |

I guess we just gotta live in the moment. For what it's worth.

About it: October 26, 2012 I fell backward on an icy parking lot at work. I was on Workers Comp for 9 months. My PCS : everyday headaches became once in a while headaches, and neck pain became manageable. Still have occasional mild dizziness, sometimes fullness in the ears, convergence insufficiency, sequencing struggles, short term memory struggles, verbal processing delays. CT neg, MRI neg. Therapies: prism glasses, acupuncture, icing neck, resting, supplementing, Elavil 20mg at bedtime. NEW: Completed 12 weeks of physical therapy and returned to work full time. About me: I'm a marketing manager, a mom with a blended family and wife to a heart attack survivor. I believe my brain injury taught me more than it cost me. I'm grateful to still be me! |

With good moods, comes feeling a bit better. The problem with this is, when we feel good, we want to do more. We get that rush, but sadly that rush of energy gets us going and well, not speaking for everyone, I overdo it. When I feel good, really good, I end up going to the mall and then crash HARD in the car. My brain is a wreck afterwards.

College Student in Information Technology and avid PC Gamer, hit the back of my head against a bunk bed and went unconscious for 3 minutes back in 10-28-2012. Symptoms: Occipital Neuralgia. 2 MRI's and CT normal. Currently going through Paxil withdrawals, and psych has me on L-Theanine, Benadryl for zaps, and Lemon Balm. Was experiencing: Migraines, Headaches, Nausea and Vomiting, Panic Attacks and Anxiety, Depression, Major Insomnia, Brain Fog, Tinnitus, Lethargy, Loss of appetite, Major Heart Palpitations, Occipital Neuralgia has eased a bit. Agreed! When I feel a bit better than normal, I do something risky! Like go out to....the grocery store? Parent teacher meetings, etc!
![]() And then I pay for it. But that is getting slowly better! |

Yup I'm in severe pain because I'm an idiot who was having a decent day so I thought I could increase my time on the recumbent bike from my recently started "usual" 10 minutes, to a whopping 18 minutes. I didn't even realize that much time had gone by. And voila. Killer headache, speech issue worse, general confusion and delays processing... Surprise. I burned another 20 calories for this? Grrrr. So frustrating. My own fault though.

You guys are just a bunch of out of control party animals, living on the edge...LOL. Being a 110% kind of person myself I have always enjoyed pushing myself and going farther than I have before. Post injury is quite different and it has been very hard but I am learning there are parallels. This injury requires a level of discipline, patience, understanding that has been a challenge. But I am getting there even if it is in tiny little baby steps.
