Hi all,
To the point; 1. Does anyone know if there is a link between PCS and inflammation in the brain? I have found that steroidal anti-inflammatory agents resolve the vast majority of my symptoms but they return once I stop taking the medication. My theory is that exertion (i.e. physical or cognitive) increases blood pressure and causes a chronic inflammatory response, either in the brain or neck, which temporarily reduces blood flow to the brain (or my brain) and causes symptoms. This response lasts for approx. 24 hours and then subsides until the next increase in blood pressure. If this is accurate, I wonder if there is a way around this? I.e. reducing inflammation in the long term. Icing my neck has not helped. 2. Does anyone NOT experience a head 'ache' or 'pain' but have strange 'tingling' feelings in their brain near the site of impact (especially when concentrating)? What do you think this could be? Numbness due to reduced blood flow? 3. My vestibular assessments suggested that I may have ruptured the wall between the middle and inner ear which causes balance and coordination issues. Does anyone have any experience in this? 4. I have just started LENS treatment and will keep you posted. If anyone has experience some improvement with this treatment I would like to hear from you. Many thanks as usual |

The inflammation issue makes sense. I have not seen any direct research. There are a variety of ways inflammatory response can be triggered. Also, the neck inflammation can be a cause.
Have you tried NSAIDS ? Rather than the steroids ? How long have you been doing the LENS ? What does your LENS therapist suggest LENS can do for you ?

I have tried NSAIDS such as ibuprofen but they do not have an effect. I suppose they are not strong enough. I have only had one LENS treatment and it was mostly a baseline measure with little therapy. I have a full therapy session tomorrow and will see how it goes. I am told to not expect improvements until 4+ sessions (maybe just so they can squeeze more money from me) so will keep you posted. The LENS therapist seems to think the treatment can improve many of my symptoms through some kind of brain re-wiring. I do not know the specifics but am at the stage where I will try anything. Thanks |

I get pins and needles (tingling) on the top of my head and sometimes at the back at the base. It usually comes from overdoing something.
Not sure about the blood pressure relation but it is worth considering. Cheers
