Default over-sensitive to stress at work

I've been feeling so stressed out at work lately that I've lost sleep thinking about the goings on there and my responsibilities.

And the loss of sleep has made me call into work sick twice in the last week - which I think is super abnormal for me...

I think I'm being overly-sensitive, I have call in to my Dr. to see if my hormonal therapy is causing it. (I had a change in my thryroid meds a few weeks ago...)

But I just feel way overly anxious about the stresses at work... everyone deals with stress at work and I used to be able to handle so much more of it!!

I feel like I really need to find a less stressful job, but I'm not even sure if that's realistic thinking...

If I get a new job won't I be just as stressed as I am now? (Is it the PCS causing the sensitivity to stress or is the job I have truly more stressful than other jobs?)

Are there jobs that are better for people with PCS?

Sounds like the stress is actually anxiety. There are ways to coping anxiety. The best way I found was to do more exercise, meditation and even yoga. Yoga gives the biggest release.

I actually considered getting another job as well, but it probably won't pay as well. I try to treat myself right too, taking many breaks using the Pomodoro Technique to manage my time and effort.

Yes, I would absolutely LOVE to be able to exercise, but I'm unable to. Whenever I try I suffer a lot of symptoms, such as speech degredation, dizziness, fatigue, brain fog among other things and it can take hours to weeks to recover from "overdoing it".

I have hypopituitarism (caused by the concussion) and I believe it causes many of the symptoms I've described above.

I've been told by others with the condition that it's because my body can't process glucose like a healthy person's body can so basically my body and brain just don't have enough fuel.

Also, can't stress at work be a cause of anxiety? (My therapist believes I am working in a hostile work environment which is causing the anxiety...)

I react severely to external stresses. Your work environment could be a big part of your struggles. It can upset the delicate balance your endo has established with your hormones.

Have you tried MCT's, Medium Chain Triglycerides to help increase your available ketones ? The ketogenic diet may help. The ketogenic diet is for those whose brains struggle to process glucose.

Thanks Mark!

I'll definitely be looking into MCT's. I've never heard of them before. And it looks like they might be able to help me!!

I was reading a little bit more about the hormones I'm taking and not only could an increase in thyroid meds make a person anxious (mine were increased about 2 weeks ago) but a decrease in estrogen can make a woman who is not menopausal or peri-menopausal, like me, feel very anxious (my estradiol is especially low and my HMO just approved a prior auth for additional estrogen replacement therapy that my Dr. prescribed to me almost a month ago and it's taken this long for the paperwork to get processed...) It turns out low estrogen can really mess up a person's serotonin system. :P

I have been taking 5-HTP to help with serotonin production for the past few months. I reduced the L-Tryptophan and replaced it with 100 mgs of 5-HTP. It seems to have kept me quite stable.

My best to you.

What is it that you do again? You've probably mentioned it before as I remember your username in many other posts.

I always try to look for more natural remedies instead of heading straight to prescriptions. Sites like Naturalnews.com or Livestrong.com comes to mind. I also try to control my diet as much as possible as more processed foods and even red meat can contribute to the symptoms. But you probably know that already.

That's too bad you can't exercise normally. How about even some light effort? Does that still contribute to your symptoms?
