Hey, I'm new here. Finally decided to join after lurking for a while.
A little bit about my injury(s). I had a hydrolic(sp?) door close on my head after the hydrolics failed while I was at work for one of the major 4 cell carriers in March of 2014. Since then, I've had vestibular evals, 2 ct scans, am scheduled for another MRI and a TON of specialists and now on to my 4th neurologist. About 10 days ago, I fell asleep reclined in my office chair and lost a battle with gravity, I woke up as I was going backwards and my head broke my fall. So needless to say that on top of the PCS that I was still recovering from, I added a new concussion on top of it. Prior to this latest fall, I had no issues falling asleep or waking up with my alarm in the morning. Now, I can still fall asleep just fine, my sleep through the night is disturbed quite a bit, but waking up in the morning is now damn near impossible. I was just wondering if any of you fine folks had similar issues or have found a solution for what I'm now struggling with. I appreciate any feedback or just discussion about this, I'm so thankful that I found this board. It's been reassuring to know that I'm not alone in what I'm dealing with. It's the first time in almost 2 years that I don't feel completely alone. Thanks for taking the time to read this. |

Disturbed sleep can be due to sleep apnea. An upper neck injury with poor sleep posture can cause interruptions in breathing. Inflammation in the brain stem area can cause these issues.
btw, Hydraulic is the spelling. But, you likely were impacted by a nitrogen pressurized lift cylinder failure. They are prone to failure in the cold and hot weather. Here are two devices for locking these lift cylinders. http://www.tooltopia.com/search.aspx...n+%28THE430%29 http://www.amazon.com/Lisle-44870-Go.../dp/B0002SRCYM I like the one with the "Remove before closing" flag.

Thanks, already have a Cpap for the sleep apnea. If I still worked at that employer I would send those links to my manager. ![]() |

I generally feel pretty crummy on waking every day. I suspect this is likely due to the chronic headaches I have. While they're usually at their minimum during this time, they're still there. If you have headaches, it's possible these play a role.
Also, I'm not sure if your on any meds but if you are it's possible that they impact the way you feel. In particular, the TCA antidepressants are pretty bad for that. |

MrHalf,
I slept round the clock for about 2.5 months then I started to have sleep disturbance. As the worst of the sleep problems peaked I could always count on getting a pretty good rest from 6-8 A.M. And that is still the case when those unsuspecting wild nights appear. Bud |

CPAP is not often effective with Central Apneas that are more related to upper neck inflammation. If your diaphragm is not pulling breaths, CPAP will be of limited value. CPAP systems are for Obstructive Apneas.
