Hi there,
So, I was reading the other day that progesterone is a "great" hormone with very good properties... and, I started to think... How can I raise my progesterone level ?? any natural way ?? any food ? vitamins ? supplements... ? I tried to find info on the web, but to be honest, I got confused.... ![]() Thank you !!! ![]() |

Apparently Chaste Berry does help raise it and normalize a hormone imbalance.
Have you tested low in progeterone? |

Should get it tested before treating.
Its more about the ratio between the two. You know you can be low in estrogen but still be estrogen dominant b/c progesterone is low. Test estrogen levels on day 3 of cycle and progesterone on day 21. |

Anyone taking oral contraceptives, would not test accurately for progesterone levels.
In a young woman suspecting low progesterone, there could be heavy periods, long periods, and more frequent time intervals than the standard average of 28 days. A low progesterone level usually implies an infertile cycle, with no corpus luteum forming after ovulation. This is best discussed with your doctor, Blue.

Longer periods are sometimes occur with PCOS...polycystic ovary syndrome (and may be lighter in flow)
Shorter periods usually come from estrogen dominance (and are heavier) You would need some blood tests to see where the problem is. Some is ovarian and some may be pituitary.

And thyroid issues if you have them will impact. You really need to have the doc run the tests to see where your level is at

I agree with the others in that you need to get an evaluation by your doctor (preferrably an Endocrinologist or GYN) and some blood work before you get on it (progesterone) or try to increase your progesterone levels.....
I am on Progesterone right now for Endometriosis and to stimulate my appetite. My GYN prescribed it and monitors things very closely. I have frequent visits with her and blood work to check everything from Vitamin levels, hormone levels, and electrolytes. Its been a great medication for me-- helping to ease the pain of endometriosis by temporarily stopping my period. It also "jump started" my appetite and helped me gain some much needed weight (my heart meds kill my appetite....). But, it DOES have side effects and is not good to be used long term. It can cause weight gain, bone thinning, nausea and, if not monitored carefully, hormonal imbalances. I'm not trying to scare, only to say, it-- and hormones of any type, are not something you should try on your own. Good Luck ! ![]() |
