Magnesium oil is just concentrated pure sea water, rich in minerals.
Taking it orally is the fastest absorption method. I found a benefit within the first week, even though I started on a tiny dose. I tried rubbing it on the skin but you have to leave it for 20 minutes or so then shower, and it's just too messy all round. You can also get a gel which is good for topical application, but costs a bit more. The oil is about $70 a litre. So a teaspoonful, 5ml, is about 35c. To me it's worth much more than that and I consider it a bargain. Nothing else that I have tried has had anywhere near the benefits, so I don't see any alternative. I take 1 teaspoonful in 600ml of water each day, and just sip it. If you take a dose with less dilution it may upset the gut a bit-just a funny feeling, nothing bad happens. When you have recovered your deficiency you will probably start to get a little bit of loose bowels, so that's a sign to reduce the dose.

The normal body will keep potassium as a rule in range. It is better to be high normal than low. Potassium is handled carefully by the kidneys and bowel. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/e...cle/001179.htm

i am going to get my potassium checked after my magnesium settles down. if it's out of range, i'm going to get an aldosterone renin test for some peace of mind..
http://labtestsonline.org/understand...erone/tab/test aldosterone is also associated with POTS (Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) which i definitely have |

more updates. i believe i was having cortisol issues and like a 3 day panic attack.
currently my blood sugar is also ALL OVER THE PLACE. i am hoping it is due to the magnesium deficiency bc im extremely underweight. i am constipated all the time so i switched back from malate to glycinate. http://barttersite.org/lab-diagnosis...um-deficiency/ according to this site. serum mg is only useful when identifying a deficiency and it will take four months to have normalish rbc mg, but for me probably longer. THE SERUM MAGNESIUM The sMg test is of little value unless there is a value lower than 1.7 mg/dl, a rare event in MgD, like the tip of an iceberg. This is then called hypomagnesemia, and emergency treatment is often indicated. Some patients with migraine have acute fall in their sMg levels and can often correlated this fall in sMg with their aura of an attack. This test is of no value when trying to follow oral Mg treatment, since levels in the normal range do not change, because the kidney will not let the sMg go above the individual patient’s set normal TM value for Mg. One’s highest level, somewhere between 1.7 and 2.5 mg/dl, should be that patient’s guide and usually remains constant through out life, in spite of a high oral intake of MgS. Thus one cannot expect it to even go as high or higher than 2.5 mg/dl, which is someone else’s preset normal level (this occurs in one out of a thousand). This is very specific, much like a person’s DNA, but it can go higher if there is kidney disease present preventing Mg excretion. THE RED BLOOD CELL MAGNESIUM This test should be the clinical practice “Gold Standard” for the diagnosis of Normomagnesemia MgD. This is because it truly measures latent and intracellular MgD, those patients below the tip of the iceberg of MgD. All clinical lavatories can get it done. It should be noted that over time, during Mg supplement treatment, the rbcMg slowly returns to normal in about 4 months. This is the only test that can be used to monitor, thereby indicating to the physician that the patient is getting their maximum dose to maintain positive Mg balance (PMgB) (more being absorbed, than coming out in the urine). Once the diagnosis is made it is important to identify the cause or causes (usually the case), this is especially true in regard to uMg wasting. There are many causes of uMg wasting; some of these drugs can be changed to a non-wasting medication. If this is impossible, the oral intake of Mg will need to be increased in order to reduce MgD symptoms and to maintain PMgB. (Elin 1988) (Millard 1995) also magnesium is linked to elevated estrogen so i might get that checked if i can ever afford t http://drcarolyndean.com/2011/02/mag...and-vitamin-d/

One cannot always tell by the stools. Some people tend to be constipated all the time.
But many people will get loose with magnesium. This is why using topical can be helpful for them.

I don't know about GABA and sex drive.
GABA is not really well absorbed in the GI tract either. The traditional treatment for low libido in women is a testosterone ointment, prescribed by a medical doctor. Some female enhancement products contain herbs that increase blood flow to the female reproductive tract. http://www.femalelibido.org/Herbal-F...Naturally.html Also Fenugreek has been used to increase libido in some people.
