I need help with my supplements and what can be taken with other supplements etc and I am hoping someone here can give me an idea of what to do.
My health issues are: Hypothyroid (treated graves with RAI) with synthroid 175 dose. Last TSH .4 Type 2 diabetes (levels fine now with regulated diet) Borderline Anemic A few others like TMJ/Eagles Syndrome and Dr suspects fibromyalgia (Endo apt in January. After pulling hair and teeth with a Dr that does not seem to take my chronic pain/fatigue/weather sensitivities/depression/anxiety/stress etc and other symptoms seriously I've started having to do a lot of research and am trying some things out on my own but I'm having a hard time with what supplements I can take with others as I have to be realistic and know that taking 3/4/5 different times a day, I will forget some. So here is what I'm working with. Aprox 2 hours before bed (all at the same time) Magnesium citrate calm 1 tsp (205mg) Brad Kings ultimate anti stress 2 capsules Blackstrap Molasses 2 tbsp so for the first set my concerns are mostly with the BSM as it has calcium, iron, magnesium,copper,vitb6 in it and I'm wondering if this is going to take away the effectiveness of everything else etc. The magnesium has turned my life around. I can sleep again without waking every 15-30 minutes, taking another 15 or so to fall back asleep. My energy from the magnesium is something I have not felt for over ten years so this one is huge for me. Brad kings is mostly for the Valerian as in the past that has helped with falling asleep. Iron, I've been on iron pills for years and I am only now just creeping into the low/normal range so I'm trying BSM to see if it works better. Morning pills: Synthroid/levothyroxin 175 Maca energy 2 capsules I'm finding very little on Maca and Synthroid combined. One site is saying it helps your body absorb the synthroid better so beware of hyperthyroid. Others say when taking at the same time it inhibits the absorption so not to take together. Does anyone have any experience with this? Midday supplement (if/when I remember it) calcium 600mg with d3400 ui. Can I put the calcium/d3 in with my night batch? Does the night batch have to be tweaked? Anyone familiar with Maca and hypothyroid? I'm not even sure if this is the right forum but I'm having a hard time finding where to go. Thank You |

I wouldn't take ANYTHING with your thyroid medication.
Take it on an empty stomach 1 hr before any food. No calcium, iron or other minerals. No herbs etc. Best just to take with water. Your Brad king product has piperine in it which may enhance absorption of some things. But I would not fool around with the levothyroxine. You might want to try d-ribose for your fatigue and other "fibro like" symptoms. This can give you energy and help with sleep. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/post708792-40.html Ribose has shown some promise with Fibromyalgia patients. In doses below 10 grams a day it has shown no negative effects on blood sugar. I have no idea about the maca. But to convert T4 which is your thyroid medication, you need adequate selenium and zinc. You should get your B12 and Vit D tested. You could be low in B12 with the anemia. Get your numerical result and post it here. Many labs still have outdated low ranges for it as "normal"...and that is really over a decade old.

Super late response as I was waiting on Dr's etc.
Im taking my synthroid now at 4 am so no issues there but my recent thyroid test showed normal TSH 1.1 and normal free t3 but elevated free t4. The black strap was for iron but i scratched that and went to a liver based iron sup at 25mg to sustain as my blood levels in june had 30 ferritin but high rbc/hemoglobin/hematocrit. My new numbers as of yesterday is 19 for ferritin and the rbc etc are normal again. B12 is 605 so its fine. Calcium is also good but Dr wont do vit d so ill have to pay for that on the side. I was suspicious of magnesium def so started mag citrate about 2 months ago now. Labs from yesterday are showing mag def..... after already taking for two months. Wonder how bad it was. Is it better to take iron and mag in am or pm? Or makes no difference? Sorry for any spellings issues..... on the phone. Thanks! |
