I have a question about panthoteic acid (vitamin b5): is taking large doses of it safe?
I am asking this because i have been considering taking it for acne. I have mild acne, but i have had eversince i was 12 (tha's many years i am 24 now). The problem with my acne is that i have it not only on my face, but on my back, upper arms and chest. I started taking d chiro inositol and remarkably reduced (it has also helped with sypmtoms of neuropathy, which is the reason i started visiting these forums), but it has not completely dissapeared. I don't know if it is a matter of giving d chiro inositol time to do its job well or if it is that something else is missing.... I may sound over concerned about this topic...it is not that serious (as other problems i have) but there's something inocous to treat it i woudl try it... I was considering giving large doses of vit b5 a try, to complement the treatment of d chiro inositol, do you think that's a good idea? Thanks |

Zinc, niacin and folic acid are used.
My son had over 90% clearing with flax oil. This omega-3 fatty acid is typically deficient in most people these days. There is a product made for acne called Nicomide. It is an RX product some dermatologists prescribe. http://www.drugs.com/pdr/nicomide-tablets.html These ingredients are available separately without a prescription. Nicotinamide is a non flush niacin. I don't have any experience with high dose Vitamin B5, sorry. (I do not see dermatologists using this either). There are no papers except of one in 1995 about this subject on PubMed. So I don't think there is much medical support for Vit B5 at this time. Deficiencies of this vitamin are not common, since it is present in so many foods.
