Arrow Wise Choices Check in 8th, 9th & 10th

i thought we could have a weekend motivating check in. time to get rid of the junk in our pantries..thus..getting rid of the junk in our trunks.

> out goes a can of wolf chili ( i use it for a dip..but not anymore!)
> 2 boxes of mac and cheese..most likey we would never eat this anyways..why did i buy it?
> 1 box of cocoa puffs. this WOULD get eaten...
> 3 cans of super fatty and salty clam chowder soups.

that's it so far. i'm dropping these off at a church when i pick up grandmonkey from school. i did toss a few things that were opened. like snack crackers. those i do NOT need around.

i started my day with....oatmeal! hehe. BIG glass of water and my coffee while taking the kids to school.

i have had a snack of 1 small banana. yep small...grandmonkey tends to not be able to eat big ones and wastes part..so..small banana's here. who'd a thunk it huh?

i have my almond tea in a TALL mug. no caffiene.

cleaned house. no walk yet..besides vacuuming.

Default What??? No Puff Puff Cocoa Puffs?

Don't have time to clean the pantry out, but I always have time to eat, lol!

Just began a new weight-loss support group last night, loosely based on the Biggest Loser. We're in groups of 5 people. They weighed us, measured us. We had 1-on-1 time with a nutritionist and a fitness counselor.

We'll receive a call of encouragement daily.

This morning I wrote down everything I ate in a special journal. Had to refer to my new (both came with the program) calorie counter. It even tells you how many calories in chocolate-covered ants!!!

Why is it when I'm on a diet, all I can think of is FOOD???

I'm supposta walk on my treadmill for 20 min., 4 times a week. Guess I'd better clear it off first or they'll be boxes and junk flying everywhere!

I don't wanna be fat anymore, so guess I'd better stick with this. Good luck to you, Curious!

Oh Twinkletoes..when I diet I read cookbooks..it's like if I can't eat it I at least have to read about it!

And yes Curious...how'd ya know? *grin

Breakfast was the usual...V8, egg beaters with low fat feta cheese and two pieces of cardboard...I mean turkey bacon.

Lunch was a yummy Crab Cobb Salad...a big one!

Jo not one word to me...since you've met me and the first thing you said was I was skinny...but I have not always been...

You have to get into a mindset to do this for yourself...not someone else!

In 2002, when I graduated from college, I weighed 192 lbs. What motivated me to lose weight was the pictures from the graduation party. It was also my 50th birthday party. I had 75 people in my backyard and had a fully catered party with my friends, family, and classmates. There were a lot of photos taken along with me in my cap and gown!

When I saw those pictures I was horrified - who was that person! It was ME!!! That next week I sat down with my PCP and my neuro and told them I had to get the weight off. My cholesterol was 262 (it's a genetic thing) and I just felt horrible.

So I went on a very strict Atkins program. 6 months, I lost 50 lbs. My cholesterol went down to 197! I was heavily monitored b/c Atkins is not well tolerated by people with MS. I did very well and have maintained the weight loss (and even lost more) for 5 years.

I do not diet anymore, I eat healthy.

I did it for myself, no one else. I knew that I had to b/c I was unhealthy. I had been dx'd with a chronic illness that I was going to be living with for the rest of my life. Putting medications into my body that were likely going to be causing side effects that I had no idea what but I did have control over the food I ate. And that's exactly what I did. I have control over something...food. It does not control me.

IV steroids wreak havoc on my body. Luckily now I cannot do them as often as I used to b/c of this clinical trial I am in, but I always gained weight but I have learned tricks so I didn't gain as much weight.

Good luck to all of you as get control of your eating habits. It is a lifestyle choice...long term, not short term.

I hope I didn't come off as lecturing! That was not my intent. I only wanted to tell you my story of how I conquered my weight issue. Maybe if you post a picture of yourself on the 'frig door, that would help! It sure did me!!!

I tried several programs before Atkins, saw a nutrionist, went to a support group, but I just wasn't ready. I was doing it for all the wrong reasons!

I love to eat, I love food. I have always wanted to be a caterer or open a restaurant. I love cooking for large groups of people! That's the one thing I miss about PODH being in the Navy. We always entertained due to his position...but we don't do that anymore.

I am here to support you! Clean out your pantries (or panties - whatever works) and get moving!

Already cleaned out my cabinets except for some crackers Don and I hate. Will throw them maybe tonight. Dressing to go to the library now. Yipee, I love to read.

Day 2 and I am on target! Pats herself on the back. What a good "ole frog".

But I think that artifical orange goo was holding stuff together inside me

But I will certainly take you up on the baked mac and cheese (as Shelley brings blanket and makes herslef at home on Monkey's couch)
