We've had 101 degree temps, and severe thunderstorms. The power came back on just after 10 PM tonight after this immense thunderstorm that thundered, boomed, crackled, and rained like crazy. I mean this was a thunderstorm that had me concerned because so much of it was right above where I was. I heard a bang, boom, booom!!! boom, rumble, and I went into the middle of the kitchen where there where no windows. I'm fortunate that none of my HF,VHF,UHF outside antennas got hit. They are grounded though.
I was leaving a family members house before this thunderstorm hit,and my eye glasses immediately fogged up outside the door, and I took them off. This storm was loaded with lightning. BF ![]() ![]() ![]() |

So glad you weren't touched personally by all that lightning, BF. I seem to forget from summer to summer just how far horizontally that stuff can travel. Knock people right off their feet from a few miles away.
What a year this has been already for weather. I'm in Florida every other weekend & fully expect a hurricane any time now. 101? It was 97 "feels like" with 95 humidity here, but I bet even that little bit made a difference. Our power was off in this part of town more than it was on. I've got solar backup for fans. Take care. Let's hope the power grids make it thru. |

Dear Friend,
Good news that you still have power. Rain can cause anxiety -- at least for me -- because it reminds us of our vulnerability. M. |

Dear Steve,
i am glad you got through the storm safely, and with all your equipment undamaged. ![]() Dear Mari, that pic was awesome!!! i had to laugh. then i felt sorry for Elliott! i'm not in texas but we don't have AC where i live... i would do that if i could sometimes. i used to stick my head in the freezer from time to time but our fridge is acting up now so access is now strictly for food, and done guerrilla fashion... think... plot... scheme... and finally, open-grabfood-shut! ~ waves ~ |

We had a microburst,or high intensity storm near by on Monday afternoon. I heard the thunder for a couple of hours. My sister called me,and said how bad the storm was over where she was. She said it was raining so hard that it looked white outside. It knocked down my brother in laws corn garden. BF

Wow from all the heat now the summer storms. I am glad that you and the equipment made it out intact Steve. I have a ton of damage claims for the insurance company I am doing claims for. I usually do special investigations, but with the snow, rain, wind and storm damage I have been doing it all now.
About 2 weeks ago there were 3 tornado's here in the Pocono area, and huge downburst that took off roofs and downed large trees. I had several roof claims and hail damage. We had so much rain the last three days I have had to empty the pool several times. It is coming in inches at a time, rare around here to have 1/2 inch a time. I like a good summer thunderstorm to a point. The dangerous one that have horrific lightening, and really loud booms, scare the bejeebies out of me. THe cats and I hide under a blanket from the flashes. still raining out as I type, no storm activity here.
