I think i read today that there had been like 22 tornadoes from lee. I think that is what I read.
stay safe steve.... bizi |
Most of the bad weather went to the West of me,and to the East of me. The Blue Ridge Mountains breaks alot of these storms up by the time they get to me.
If the bad weather came in from the North,or South,I would fell more of those storms. Thank goodness for the Blue Ridge Mountains in my neck of the woods. .....but.....The earthquake center was in the next county over. .....But..... I thought that they where cool. If they where a 7,or 8,that would be a different story, and it would have damaged everything around here. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
Thanks, Steve, :heartthrob: I was wondering how the rest of Lee affected the East. I'm glad you are safe. M |
Hey Mari.
At this time it seems to be going all the way up to the lower part of Maine. It goes West of there to Lake Ontario. So the whole North East part of America is getting soaked again.
It's been such a slow moving storm. Di. Are you OK? It looks like Pennsylvania is getting soaked again. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
computer game of life v totally nutz
I keep thinking of that (Japanese?) businessman who wanted to tow icebergs to the Middle East desert countries to supply water. I think that's why I dreamt last night that I pulled up the Weather Channel map, clicked on storm front & former T.S. Lee, dragged the whole thing over tha state of Texas (whose size & shape it fit exactly), & dropped it.
Fire problem AND too-much-rain problems BOTH solved:yahoo:. Yeah, I can see the appeal of Life 2.0, if it's got those sorts of possibilities. Life 1.0 seems so sadly self-destructible:Sob:. |
we have had gorgeous weather, feels like fall. going to heat up again this weekend.

rain
Hi,
I know someone in drought stricken Oklahoma whose walls are cracking and foundation buckling due to dry weather. Texas houses are the same too . . .water mains are bursting and asphalt road splitting Here we have rain tonight . . . part of a system that will be over us for EIGHT days. Did I say, "lots of rain?" men not paying attention
HI
I told hubby Friday night about lights out in certain parts of the city I drove through coming home (total darkness on the roads). I told him on Saturday to help me organize the flashlights. We are under a Sever Weather Alert. He's not alarmed because the rain and wind seems to be everywhere in our region EXCEPT our particular little neighborhood. We are fine tonight, thank goodness. Around 11:00 pm tonight I prompt him again. Finally, he and I spend a couple of hours going through our flashlight /battery / radio storage. . . We find the big cooler. I tell him if the lights are off he is not to open the fridge. http://bestsmileys.com/weather/1.gif I'm so p'd off. We could have done this in the day time instead of messing with my "bed time." Someone please tell me that there is nothing wrong with my wanting to keep the two of us safe and comfortable. M |

I am sorry for that. There is nothing wrong with your wanting to keep safe and comfortable. It is still hurricane season. bizi |
Kicken up the weather thread for the news of white weather.
Last night we had an inch to start, tomorrow Saturday we are getting between 8-10" the Pocono's are up to a foot.... The guys still did not get the pool down and put away. Just hoping the wind expected does not bring the trees down onto the power. I am staying home but the ds and dgs have tickets to Ringling Bros. Circus tomorrow. I hope the worst is over by the time they leave. |
I can't believe it...already SNOW!!!!!
wow hugs to you stay warm! bizi |
Yes. We could get a couple of inches here. The higher the elevation, the more snow is possible today. BF:hug::grouphug::hug:

It's 37 degrees here right now. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
I just can't believe the weather this year. We had weeks of 88* 90* which we are lucky to see a three day heat wave. Then the rain is at 53" normally about 23" for the year, and only an inch off the all time YEARLY high. We will break that already and it is only Octber.
Still awake at 4:30 AM....I better get to sleep but still have one kid not home yet. Just texted now to get home before the weather starts turning bad. Be safe BF and warm. Di |
Dear Di,
Did you get rain or snow? Either way, that much at one time can be such a mess. Be safe. M |

I got called out for work. Nearby Interstate 80 had a 37 truck and car pile up closing the roadway for 4 hrs. The trucking company that called our agency needed me on scene for photos, driver interview and transport for chemical testing. The first tractor trailer jack knifed and the two tractor trailers our company covered could not avoid impact with the first one, and then a Jeep Cherokee that slide off the road, regained traction and sliding onto the roadway hitting the second tractor trailer in the trailer wheels. I waited for the driver of our truck to be cut out of the tractor, the company waived chemical testing and requested that I assiste in getting the three people to a hotel they arranged near the exit. I felt bad for the driver of the one truck his fingers were cut all up and leg/hip so much pain. The other driver hung up truck driving. Said he was not fit, too much and we had to arrange for him to get a bus ticket home today. The company I work for was very lucky that this incident was only a few miles from my home. With a foot of snow I normally could not get out, but lucked out with plow traveling the highway ahead of me. But the few mile trip ended up being a 4 hr ordeal. DH drove me, his work had cancelled as the place he provided weekend security closed due to weather. With being gone away the several days I needed the over time work and was fortunate it worked out the way it did. BUT, if the roads had not been decently cleaned and treated, I would never have left the house. Today I have to get to the tow yard for vehicle photos and estimate for the damages. I have a senior adjuster that will work the numbers. http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...04392Large.jpg http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...04384Large.jpg |

Yikes. You did a lot by helping those drivers. Stay safe. Your pictures are amazing. M |
wow. that must have been so scarey for those involved. Glad that you are safe and were able to help out and get to the scene.
((((HUGS)))) bizi looks like a lot of snow! |
what's your weather?
Hi,
Tonight the temp will go down to the mid 50s and up a bit to the 70s late in the day. I'm not anxious tonight --- sometimes my anxiety is less on days when I can completely stay home and not even talk to anyone on the phone. Mari |
weather etc
Hi
Our temps have dipped recently, but the highs are expected to go back up to the mid 50's, temporarily, this week. recently they have been in the high 40's. night temps have been in mid to high 30's. sometimes stays real cold in the morning because of fog. (fyi, i post all temps in *F. stuff here is in *C but i convert everything before posting, or we would all get real confused - including me.) this time last year, we had already had snow if i recall correctly. anyway, it was a lot colder. this weather is more normal i think. well, i don't know if there is a normal any more. i am happy that i get to wear my favorite hat for a while (it is an autumn hat) so the weather must be neither too hot nor too cold. i love this hat. it feels very me. even though i feel that i have lost myself, it is as though a part of me still lives in that hat. and when i wear it, i feel a little more whole. 40 right now, up to 60 today then warmer the rest of the week.
Mari, I am hoping for more stressfree evenings for you. ((((HUGS)))) bizi |
That is some cool fall weather Waves.
Cool down your way Bizi, not much warmer up here. I am at 30*s tonight and tomorrow low 40*s for a high. At least it stopped raining. On Monday and Tuesday when the hunting season for buck started it was in the 60*s. It was really unusually warm in Nov. After the freak storm. Most days the heat only ran at night. I still have so much yard work to do before I can get the holiday decorations up. I don't do much the last few years, but dgs and dd are looking for some festive lights and displays. |
It was 66 today, wonderful fall weather. 40's at night so the heat stays on 68.
going to actually be warmer tomorrow. and then the rains start this weekend which will bring in a cold front. bizi |
here, they said "winter is coming in"
Ack!
so much for the temporary reprieve. We are getting a cold front too looks like maybe next week. they are saying precipitation... snow in elevations and presumably rain elsewhere. i hate hate hate hate *hate* cold rain. and i have to go out next week. all i can hope for is that the temps drop a smidgeon more even not in the elevations.... so we get snow too... i can deal with snow ... the main problem is for those driving, and i take public trans so HA! well, we'll see... what we get is what we get... 'glad you are having such nice weather Bizi. 66 sounds idyllic to me about now, LOL! :D (as long as no rain! 66 is still a pain in case of rain!) ~ waves ~ |
Second cold night here.

Hi, On the way to work this morning I drove past two Turkey Vultures hanging out in the middle of the road. They looked similar to these. The birds are about two feet tall. They are ugly in a funny sort of way. It is about 42 degrees F for the second night in the row. Cold. Last night the heater was not on. Tonight I set it for 75 degrees! M (P.S. I did not take these photos. I found them on google images.) |
It was 30 last night but has warmed up to 50 already this morning and supposed to get to 70 today. We are having a really mild winter thus far.
Your turkey vulchers may have been having breakfast....yuck I know. chain of life. bizi |
The temp. went down to about 16 degrees last night. We have not had any snow yet. It has been mostly a warm Fall, and Winter so far except for last night. BF:hug::hug::hug:
|
Its been really a different winter so far here in my neck of the woods also.
Its been in the 40's a lot of the time. Sometimes the 50's or 60's I think. Wow, its already January, were oh were did mother nature leave our winter. Hoping it doesn't come all at once. It got to like low 20's for a couple of days, then right back up. Just not usual weather here in Indiana. We have had a little snow. twice. Donna:grouphug: |
very Mild winter so far, 73 today....gorgeous weather, blue skies.
Just got a garmin GPS and have been using it today , easy to use. The real test is on saturday when I don't know where I am going. bizi |
Bizi
enjoy your gps. My husband had a awful day yesterday. His comment. Broke my car, thought the semi next to me hit me, such a bang. (it didn't), broke my good glasses at work, expensive ones, (he had to look for safety glasses, A different pair at home) that had a lens for them, then I think the worse to him, broke my GPS, his favorite one. I was originally going to town to get a new one. But now I have to fix the car instead. I felt so sorry for him. Donna:grouphug: |
yes that was a crummy day, sorry for him and you!
bizi:hug: |
Lucky for him and me the weather is so nice right now.
We will see if he can definately fix this car. Or if he will be buying a new one. I'm more leaning toward him getting a second car soon. I've been ready for a new car for a while. But if that one doesn't run right. Then I don't want to be left driving it too. Heehee Donna:grouphug::hug: |
Dear Bizi,
Enjoy your new GPS. Dear Donna, I thank goodness your husband is safe. Good luck with taking care of your car stuff. M |
dear Donna
crazy day there that your hubby had. yuck indeed. good luck with the car and with getting the new GPS too. ~ waves ~ |
I tried to update my old Magellan GPS with the software for it,and it doesn't upgrade. I tryed to upgrade it last night. Dang!!!
I guess that I'm going to have to buy a new GPS unit in several months. It's not going to be a Magellan. I'm looking at the disk right now.:hug::hug: |
We are going through the La Nina, which is the counterpart of the El Nino that we had last year.
With the La Nina, there is a increased chance of above-average temperatures across the South-Central,and South Eastern US. There are suppose to be a below average temperatures over the Western, and North-Central US. My information is from National Oceanic, and Atmospheric Administration.(NOAA) I hear that this La Nina weather pattern is more intense then in others in resent years. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
yes, warmer than usual here too
Quote:
i kinda figured... thanks for the research and for letting us know! i am in Europe and i guess it affects us too... it's been unusually warm here too... practically fall temps. this year, i can count on one hand the number of times our min temps (night) have hit freezing or below, yet we are well into winter!!! one year i was walking around in snow in November. another year, not much snow, but it was well below freezing even at 9 am andthensome... this morning at 7 am, the outdoor thermometer showed 46 degrees! at 7am! incredible. sunny day too. looks pleasant outside. ~ waves ~ |
I believe it.
I believe we would be considered in the North-Central area. But we are having mild, below average weather for our area. Many of the workers, that usually depend on the snow are in trouble this year. Donna:grouphug::hug: |
yes it is above average temps here as well. like fall really, bright sunny skies.
just lovely! bizi |
