bizi, thanks. The landlord doesn't do much at all. They're really lovely people but don't like spending money. I don't really understand that because it's all tax-deductible anyway. They will have to fix these leaks. I'm over it!
Mari, thanks. The cupboard is ok until the next lot of rain. It's actually good I noticed it. One day when the sun shines all day I'll have to wash everything that is in there because I can't stand the thought of having all that moisture in the closed cupboard. I found lots of water marks in the house today, but it's all sorted for now. Fortunately I bought some of those "damp rid" trays and have one in the linen cupboard and others in damp areas. I'm just grateful I wasn't like a lot of other people and totally flooded. The water didn't come in my laundry door, but I was keeping an eye on it and making sure the drains weren't clogged with leaves from all the run-off. Thanks everyone. EDITED to add: btw, it's absolutely GLORIOUS out there now at 3.30pm. Hard to believe it could clear so fast after all that. lol |
Hey Lara Please make sure that these areas don't mold. I'd spray Lysol around the wooden areas, and any areas that could mold.
I'm sorry that you have had to much rain. I guess that the humidity is high. No fun. BF:hug::hug::hug: |

It is totally beautiful. I wish we had sound too. I love to hear (gentle) waves. M |
It is 54 and chilly this morning and 100% humidity, my hands are sweating as I type. Supposed to get up to 80 today...will wait and see. Hope everyone has a beautiful weekend!

It's 84 degrees here in the middle of the Eastern Seaboard of the US at 2:20 PM, Friday the 23rd of March. BF:hug::hug::hug:

somebody said it is supposed to get cold again....with the nights going into the thirties.
bobby |
here it's variable but overall warmer. we are getting mid-season temps.
we did have a couple days of cold again, after the initial warm-up, but i don't think they are expecting that to happen again. it is sometimes quite nippy in the morning, but usually pleasant by afternoon, especially in the sun ... typically low 70's, 60's on rainy/windy days. |
I hope all our friends and their families in Texas are OK.
Just saw the shocking footage of the damage caused by the tornadoes. |
Predictions are that we could have a crazy amount of tornadoes in the mid-west areas this year -- something connected to the warm winter for most of the country.
I pray for peace and quiet. :heartthrob: In Florida we wish people "a quiet summer." M |
From me in one Sunshine State to another Sunshine State... (different countries)... I wish everyone a quiet summer as well.
Gosh, it's still summer here and it's April. La Nina is still doing her work it seems. |

25 photos of tornadoes from dallas, no one was killed amazingly. |
How terrifying.
Would tornadoes hit Texas very often? I know of other states where people would have safe basements to go to for shelter, but I saw something on the news last night and one family were hiding in their bathroom on ground level and after it was all over their whole house was gone except for what looked like the bathroom walls. |
Texas tornadoes
Quote:
Hi, It is uncommon to have basements in Dallas/Ft. Worth. That has something to do with the frostline. I think houses in the North need basements whereas houses in Dallas/ Fort Worth do not. Also the ground shifts, causing foundation problems ( . . .not a builder so I am not sure exactly). In spring and early summer conditions are favorable for tornados in the U.S. plains. This picture comes from U.S.A. Today newspaper. Texas ranks high for the number of tornados because it is big and parts of the state are in Hurricane Alley. Florida gets more tornadoes than any other state but our storms are small. In Florida we are taught that an inside bathroom is the safest room in the house. http://www.usatoday.com/weather/wtornavg.htm http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/o...adoe_alley.gif M |
Rain. Rain. Rain. Rain. Rain. Rain.

Perhaps no rain today, Friday.
Lara, that is so cool about the moon. For us that is Saturday night I think. Thank you. M |
looking up at the super moon tonight, it is beautiful!
hope others are enjoying.... bizi |
I went out over an hour ago. It was indeed beautiful.

It's the next night here, and it's still spectacular. Moonbeams coming in the house. 8.10pm, Sunday the 6th of May. It'll be really bright for a few days I imagine.

whining rather than howling here...
Here, overcast Saturday, dark night :(
Sigh. Perhaps tonight will be better. Still seeing clouds out there for now though (2pm). I sure does sound wonderful. I am glad you guys got to see it full. ~ waves ~ |
I saw earlier this time when it was low in the sky. It really was gorgeous.

Brian Williams on the Nightly News(NBC) a couple of days ago, said that the La Nino is over. If he is correct, the weather may calm down. I hope that he's right. We shall find out.

Hi,
Today is the first official day of the hurricane season although we have been getting rain for weeks. Last night our roof was leaking into the kitchen. :( Today, hubby climbed into the attic with a bucket to catch the water. Roofers will be here on Friday. M |
We have been having thunderstorms off,and on since last night.
Mari You had that big tropical storm in your area that was a slow mover. Did you know that you can go to Live Webcam places all over the country, and see how much rain they are getting also, and what they are doing. I've been going to ones all around the center of my state. I haven't been to the beech in years, and I've been going to the Live webcam in Virginia Beech on the board walk. I just learned about the beech webcam this week. Fun,Fun,Fun.:sunchair::Dancing-Chilli::grouphug::hug: |
i am sorry that your roof is leaking....very sorry.

mosquito season. also, the beach. 2 things.
it's warming up enough here we are getting mosquitoes and other bitey thingies. some are small enough to make it through the screens.
------------------- i want to go to the beach but for me a camera just won't do the experience is much too tactile. i want to feel foamy waves wash over my feet, leaving them to sink that little bit in soft wet sand. i want to hear that lovely swwiiiiishhhhhhhhhhhhh ... sssswwwwwwwwiiiissshhhhh of the waves and breathe the salt on the air. glimpse at a school of little white fishies in blue clear water. i wonder how many places still have the blue clear water i grew up with. sigh. :sing: ... don't it always see to go ... ~ waves ~ too far from any beach |
Waves I agree. Being at the beech is 100 times better. Having web cams of the beeches gives me a little sparkle,or good feeling that I can see them. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Mari This is Tuesday night, and it looks like it's raining where you live again. I'm sorry that you all are having rain related problems. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Did the roofers come and fix the problem?

We are probably going to get a new roof. We have to get the paper work (home owners' association, city hall permit, and such) before we can proceed. M |
YOu have to get a city hall permit to get a new roof?
hmmmm. we did not that I know of when we got ours from hurricane lili. owning a home is costly. bizi |
Bizi,
I would go back to renting in a heartbeat. We bought because hubby wanted to. He is very happy here. Quote:

Hey Mari.
Our tax dollars at work. :Noooo: To much red tape to make a repair. Are they going to charge you for their approval to do this? I don't know about these kinds of laws. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Waves,
Oh Yeah. Hubby is the one handling the paperwork, but (and there is always a but) I have to talk him through the steps. For the first signature I had to explain the following 1 first talk to the friendly neighbor who knows everything because she has been here forever. 2 ask her for the phone number of the person on the association board Then I politely called person number 2 to inform her that we are in the process of purchasing a new roof. I asked if hubby could come over for her signaure. She said yes. Hubby did that. Hubby returns. This person wants a sample of the tile we will put on the roof. (argh!) She wants to actually hold the tile in her hands because she does not trust that the roofer we are using can look at the current tile on our roof and use the same color. Then we inform the roof guy we need the tile in our hands. He has not called back. Quote:
Do you suggest ear muffs something like these. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/ear...ecatalog/N-bz1 Quote:
Thanks for the laugh. M |

I had some good feelings about looking at the Beach, the waves, the people walking down the boardwalk, and beach. I found a bunch of live web cams that show different beaches. I think that it was 2 nights ago that I saw a full moon rising on a East Coast cam. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
Summer Solstice
Hi,
  Wednesday at 7:00 pm EST was the summer solstice. :sunchair: The days start getting shorter. M |
There was a thunderstorm in my neck of the woods yesterday afternoon. It was a one of those thundering storms, with allot of lightning. At on time,I heard a explosive BANG!!!!! Loud. I heard something that I never heard before. It sounded like it went back up into the cloud with spurts of 4 vibrating sounds,at 4 different levels going up. I've never heard that before. I can't explain how this sounded going back up. It went bang,bang,bang.bang....Then further up bang,bang,bang,bang....Then further up Bang,bang,bang,bang....then at the highest point, and not as loud bang,bang,bang,bang....Then it disappeared. That's what I heard, and it was about as interesting as a thunder clap gets, without hurting anything. It struck somewhere in the backyard, but all was well after I inspected it later.
I was praying for the Lord to protect family members, and their properties from lightning, tornadoes, microbursts, hailstones, and high winds. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
