Ice
Hi,
This is for everyone thinking cool thoughts today. M http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/o...l/c16b14f7.jpg |
Today was the hottest day so far. It was 102 degrees for several hours.(Saturday) It's 1:59 AM,and 84 degrees on Sunday morning.
This kind of weather usually brings massive black clouds after a while, and a cold front moves through. I hope that it's not a bad storm. Thank you for the Ice picture Mari. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
In the normal typically cooler Pocono's it has been miserable. 90's all week. Friday it was 95* with unbearable humidity and that was a cooler day. It rained all around us, big storms just missed us but took out the power for about 5 hrs. We have a generator so the son was able to hook it up to both homes. His poor gold fish Big Boy was not happy. I was tempted to take a straw and blow bubbles in for him.
DS showed me a back up battery system in case the power goes off how to hook the tank up. I am little concerned when we travel though now and would not know the power was off. I think we need to take him to a tank at our house so someone knows and can help Big Boy. This Gold fish was from a Fair last year and has to be about 7 in long, It reminds me of some fish I have caught in my life. lol. Keep cool BF, hope things cool off for all of us this week like they are saying. I put the 4' pool up for the kids and even with sunscreen I am getting so dark on my arms. Need sun block that is stronger on them. di |
At 3:40 PM,it was 106 degrees where I live. My thermometer is stingy. I've heard allot of temperatures in the 106-116 degrees range, and I figured that some of this was hype,or equipment error. My sensor is in the shade. How can it be 106 degrees at 3:40 PM in Virginia? We are in a severe thunderstorm watch mode. If it happens,we my see some hail, black clouds, and wind gusts. My NOAA alert radio just sounded off. We have a severe thunderstorm headed to the Southeast. I am in the Southeast of that location. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Its been over 106 in Indiana were I live for the last week, till today. From 12 noon, till probably 6 or 8pm. The humidity has made it 120 or higher. Today everyone, thanks for your prayers, its been 85, it was supposed to be I believe 90, but it didn't make it. I am so pleased with today. See I was taking Derrick to help set up for his camp volunteering this week. We have never been home so he could help. So he really wanted to help this year. So he got too. It also rained, Yippee. He had a great time, I saw my PT there. And got to tell her how great i"m doing. Donna:grouphug::hug: |

Yep very hot. My son's have window AC and they were hot houses in some rooms. One son took my husband's advice and bought two more fans.
I'm so glad his lady was getting so sick in their rooms with out AC. I was getting worried. When we went on vacation we told them to use our house. And luckily the one that gets sick I believe did, but it could have been the other son, and his son. We aren't sure, it really doesn't matter. Just glad someone used it. But I was getting worried, I don't handle that heat well. And Derrick starts volunteering for Camp Wack tomorrow, But its nicer now. So its going to be okay for me. We did the set up or he did and I got to see our friends. Well at least if you can call PT's and OT's and SLp's friends. I can, and I love it. Heehee, And talk to them. He got to have a mouse run under his feet. Ugh, glad it wasn't me. They put up tents, he had a great time, they treat him as a equal, its so nice. Donna:grouphug: |
The temperature is back to normal for the time being. It's late, but it's 70 degrees. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Steve
That is good. It was 95 at one point when I saw a theromostate today. So it was back to hot here. Donna:grouphug: |
Hi Dmom3005 It got up to around 90 on Thursday. The weather men say it's going to go up soon. BF:hug::hug::hug:

the beach was lovely tonight
Hi,
Hubby and I went to the beach again. It was beautiful --- 78 degrees and a breeze off the ocean. I hope we can go again. M |
that is so nice. i hope you go more.

so happy that you went to the beach!!!!!!
it was 75 last night, went for a nice walk around the neighborhood. hope you have many nice evenings at the beach! bizi |
Everyone pray that we in Indiana, honestly any part of Indiana
get the rain that is predicted. We need it bad. They just opened up some of our areas, Like Lake Freeman, and hopefully Lake Shafer, to help the musselfish. We have restirctions in many towns for water. And the burn bans are still on. But the big thing is that its hit so bad that they say its hurting the economy at the Indiana Beach area. Which is in Monticello, so its going to realy impact the economy there thanks to the lowering of the rivers. But the lives of the animals to me is more importants. But they just opened up grazing grounds that the government controls, all over the state to the ranchers. And this is big. I don't remember this ever happening. So rain is really a necessity here. So rain dances are big things in our news too. Heehee Donna:grouphug::hug: |
I hope that the midwest and south get the rain they need, but golly not all at once like Houston did with the flooding. It has been a dry year, after the freak snow before Halloween, and the floods of the many thousands of home and busineeses from the Tropical Storm Irene last year we are dry, but not that dry.
I am enjoying the warm high 80's and 90's in the pool and yard this year. Just not the days the humidity is unbearable to work. Praying you get a nice slow rain for a few days to soak in and not flood. di |
lightning and thunder... / INTERNET
we are finally having thunderstorm activity, even though no water yet, would you believe it! sigh.
FYI: MY INTERNET could go down any second d/t this - and IF it does, it could stay down all weekend.... :o jes so ya know. edited to add: it must have sprinkled between the time i wrote that and now... i just went to the window and, unlike before, i could smell the earth! mmmmm! can see shiny spots under some street lamps too. Parked vehicles are now all shiny and "shhhhhhh" sounds are coming from the (presumably now damp) roads. but still not raining!!! i have to keep watch, coz i have the computer window open wiiiiiiide (- it's HOTTTT here)! :o waves |
Its rained yesterday and today. In lots of Indiana.
Yippee, Still not enough, but some. Donna:grouphug: |
I am glad that you had some rain donna.

Hi,
I want to remember to see the full moon tonight/ Wednesday at 11:28 p.m. EST ( I forgot to get up from my computer work and take a look at the moon last night.) M |
full moon
I saw it. it was gorgeous. It was well positioned and lit the living room for me for three nights straight. :)
the second night, it was red/orange for a while! :) |
Morning Stars
Outside in the dawning light
The "Morning Star" glides across the Sky With a smaller companion I can't identify But neither are stars: they do not twinkle. The "Morning Star" we all know is in fact Venus And its companion, here and now, might not be so nearby. Indeed I think it might be Jupiter. ~ waves ~ |
I saw the Moon at sometime in the last couple of nights. It was beautiful. I saw Venus also early in the morning within the last week. BF:hug::hug::hug:
|
I try to stay up
I fall asleep around 8 bit I get up at 0330 or so....no nice, I know...but I have seen the moon in the AM and what a treat. I really appreciate things like that.

Does anyone on here look at "Astronomy Picture of the day Archives"? That website has a picture,or information about the universe every day. BF:hug::hug::hug:
|
Not me.
But I can say I wasn't unhappy to see some much needed rain again today. Even if its just a little bit. Donna:grouphug: |
oklahoma has had 18 days of 100 degree or hotter days in a row for some areas. I can't imagine that.
It was 90 here today, I worked in the yard a bit, sweat like crazy but planned on it with a shower in site. bizi |
Hi, Steve,
Thank you. I found it. 'Love the pics! Mari |

Not sure what the count in Indiana is. But we aren't far behind if we are. We are in the hottest summer in history, or many years. I can't remember which. Donna:grouphug: |
Tropical Storm Issac
Hi,
We started getting rain from Tropical Storm Issac last night. We will have more rain for the next week because the storm is big (wide). M |
It's been raining all day here. There was allot of water in the yard. It's thundering outside right now. I just saw a flash of lightening. My State is in the Northern part of the outer edge of this storm.. Rain is coming in from the South-East. It's 68 degrees. BF:hug::hug::hug:
|
Both of you stay safe.
Donna:hug::grouphug: |
Thank you Donna. I hope that you get rain soon. We have had a abundance of rain in Virginia. BF:hug::hug::hug:

More rain for you today /Sunday? Take care.   M |
Steve,
We have luckily had rain the last two or three weeks. So it wont be so important to get some of this. But it wouldn't be bad if we did not. Most of the state I believe this last week has been lifted from the bans on the burning. And some of the area's that didn't have fireworks, have scheduled special shows. So its been nice. Donna:grouphug::hug: |
well we don't really know where the storm will go at this point, will keep my eyes on the weather.

We will be thinking about you. :heartthrob: The storm and the weather associated with it is mostly gone from here. We could get another inch of rain between now and tomorrow. M |
The temperature has gone down in the second half of August on the East Coast. I remember that this has happened before. I hope that we have a cooling trend in the Autumn.
We can hope. I don't know what it's going to do,but we surely have had a warmer winter in the beginning of the year. We got clobbered with snow a couple of years ago. Who knows what it's going to do next. I hope that the tropical storm stays away from Mari, and Bizi. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
