No more cheerios. I will eat some more eggs in the morning. I do eat avacado quite often. I am hungry again, not two hours after the cheerios, so it didn't do much good. I will get half a small avacado....this is hard to do this time around. I am just too inactive. ginnie

Ginnie,
Also try some soups. They are satisfying and more filling. They help with hunger. You could make soup with a small amount of chicken and lots of vegetables -- carrots, greens like spinach or kale or cabbage, a tomato or two,. . .

Remember too, that it is ok to be hungry. Hunger does not mean that we have to eat right now. Our bodies can wait a few hours.
We can notice the hunger and feel it and wait to feed our bodies later.

Default soup, OK

I will get some soup in me now. The trouble is, I don't want to be hungry and in terrible pain at the same time. Eating emotionally happens, and thats how I got fat to begin with! Will do soup and half avacado now. thanks all ginnie

Heart

WE can become addicted to carbs high blood sugars causes high insulin production which turns/stores sugars into fat. eating fat does not make you fat it is converted into energy. You can stop the hunger pains but not the carb cravings. It can take a long time to get rid of sugar cravings. YOu can substitute sugar free chocolates, sugar alcohols in small quantities, Fiber carbs don't count like those in veggies, except peas, corn and potatos.the starchy veggies.

Default still have alot to learn

Had 1 cup soup, avacodo half, and a tangelo. I feel better now. I do crave carbs. Cereal, pasta, etc. When I do eat bread, I am getting a 5 grain whole bread, and thin sliced. I cook my own chickens and pre-package for sandwich, etc. I eat black beans and most mexican dishes. Since my nutrition needs are lower, I have to find more ways to cut back on total intake I think. This has been a struggle since last nov. I lost all that origional weight real fast, as it was such a change to what I use to do. It was almost easy, now I am truely fighting to keep the weight off. I am paying attention to what all of you are doing. Keep posting all the information you can for all of us....I am with all of you as we fight to stay healthy. Eggs tomorrow morning. thanks bizi and all of you...ginnie

Ginnie,
After not eating cereal, bread, pasta, tortillas, and rice for two or three days, the cravings will stop.
Beans are a great source of protein. I love beans.
I make split pea and lentil soup in the crock pot.
For lunch at work sometimes I bring a can of garbanzo beans (rinse them to get the salt off before I put them into my lunch bag). If it is a long day, I bring yogurt too.

There is a small study that shows it is harder to keep off weight than it is to lose it. You are doing well.

Arrow Study: Long-Term Persistence of Hormonal Adaptations to Weight Loss

Hi,

According to this small study, our bodies try to regain weight after a weight loss.

Quote:
Long-Term Persistence of Hormonal Adaptations to Weight Loss

CONCLUSIONS
One year after initial weight reduction, levels of the circulating mediators of appetite that encourage weight regain after diet-induced weight loss do not revert to the levels recorded before weight loss.
Long-term strategies to counteract this change may be needed to prevent obesity relapse. (Funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council and others; ClinicalTrials.gov number,

Here is the link to the New York Times that explains that and other studies.

The Fat Trap

For years, the advice to the overweight and obese has been that we simply need to eat less and exercise more.
While there is truth to this guidance, it fails to take into account that the human body continues to fight against weight loss long after dieting has stopped.
Quote:
So where does that leave a person who wants to lose a sizable amount of weight?
Weight-loss scientists say they believe that once more people understand the genetic and biological challenges of keeping weight off, doctors and patients will approach weight loss more realistically and more compassionately.
At the very least, the science may compel people who are already overweight to work harder to make sure they don’t put on additional pounds. Some people, upon learning how hard permanent weight loss can be, may give up entirely and return to overeating. Others may decide to accept themselves at their current weight and try to boost their fitness and overall health rather than changing the number on the scale.

Doctor's visit went okay.

I weigh 215 without shoes, 217 with. Heehee, or I'd guess without.

But anyway, need to drink 64oz's of water a day. And eat a low carb diet.

Hmmm,. seems he has decided to have me start losing weight.

Think since I was trying on my own he is going to suggest.

Default Beans Mari

I eat some beans, not not as many as I should. I don't like the taste or texture of garbanzos, and I try over and over again to like them. I don't like white rice, so thats good. Black beans are my favorite. My house mate does put the garbanzos in my salad, so I will eat them at times. It is the quantiy I think I have to cut down on. Total intake is too much for the weight to stay off. I ate two oranges and one apple today too. Is that too much fruit? Had bad for me dinner, a beef frank on a whole wheat bun. I will be giving this all my effort in the next weeks. I got some nice cloths that are a bit tight, and I will be dog goned if I am going up in weight after all I did. Tomorrow I am going to take a pain med, which I am allowed, but I plan to work in the yard. It will burn off some calories and get me out in the sun a bit. Walking is painful, so I will weed, and limit trips to the garden spot for clippings. sitting on my butt is what is doing this. I was way more active last year. My ankles are just not holding out. ginnie
