sigh
monday is my weigh-in day. sigh.
i think i may have lost all of ...... ............. a HALF a pound! whoa. at this rate, if i'm not careful i'll blow away in the wind. :o (if only. :o) i did walk to the store today, and back with a bag of groceries. 15 mins each way, moderate-fast pace. i've been eating pretty decently, and moderate quantities. i think only exercise will make a difference for me... because for so long, i have had so incredibly little movement. and i'm SOOOO unfit. it's awful. it's embarrassing! :o:eek: ~ waves ~ |

I had to stop weighing myself every week because it was so depressing. So I just started weighing in when it felt like I should. So at times I would. I was at the doctor yesterday and I weighed a little more than before. Donna |
waves! congratulations on your walking more!!!!
I didnot realize that you were dieting too. welcome to the club... I have found the only way for me to lose is by calorie counting. measureing out my food and weighing pieces of meat to control portion sizes 3-4 oz of meat is not much but if you flatten chicken out with a mallot it looks bigger!:D It is hard not having access to my calorie counter tool. but am able to estimate pretty good. Have been exercising 3xweek now for 3 weeks. My scrubs feel better! and I don't look as pregnant as I used to! good luck everyone, here is to healthy eating habits! bizi I think I told you that I add a cup of v8 juice to 50 oz of water and drink on that thru out the day...jsut enough taste to not taste like plain water and enough salt to make it appealing, and 2 extra servings of veggies for the day!;) |
Dear Beth,
You sound like you are doing great.
Finding that clothes fit better is a good reward. M. |
I hope you are well today Mari!:)

I had a salad for supper.
And Derrick and I went for a good walk with 2 of the dogs. Donna |
I went out to eat for lunch today at a chinese restaurant. I asked for extra shrimp and lots of veggies and no fried rice and to steam the meal to not use any oil and they made it jsut great!!!!!! lots of brocolli, bak choy, celery, green beans, carrots, I am full! the sauce was a brown thin soy sauce, it did have a little oil but was very thin and wasn't alot.
I did not eat the little corn bits not the water chestnuts...don't know about their calorie counts. yesterday I did not eat enough...I was ravinous at 10 pm so had a wrap with pepper jack cheese and salsa and a cup of fat free milk...I warmed up the wrap and it was so good! I chose between beer and food, food won! bizi |
hi
thanks for the encouragement. you guys are uplifting. :)
Mari - yes i have to do things gradually. that is hard for me. i start doing something, and realize how far away i am from where i need to/want to be. :( so it distresses me. but you are right, can't really go from 0 to 100 without the steps in between! :o Donna - before i appointed a weigh-in day, i was weighing myself too often which isn't good. i could make it 2 weeks apart, but i like to keep tabs if i have a small gain, so i can offset it before it creeps up on me. :o Beth - i am not actually on a diet, in the strict sense. i know the whole calorie counting thing works for some (certainly it is for you :)) but i personally would get too obsessed if i tried something like that. it would make me think about food more, whereas i need to think about it less - my downfall is comfort-eating. i very very seldom diet... and i right now i am not even in a position to do so, because i would have to prepare all my food separately from the others, which would be too problematic in terms of kitchen use. however, i am wanting to lose weight and get more fit: hence walking, trying to be moderate with food and choose healthy foods. :o So... am i disqualified from this thread? :o i am glad that food won over beer when you got hungry last night! that is gooood. :) one thing i would like to say is to be cautious of excessive reduction of oils in the diet, especially if you are doing a high-protein diet. you do need some oils for proper nutrient absorption, and general "transit" - maybe you are getting enough i don't know. using a little olive oil, esp. raw, is also good at offsetting cholesterol you might be getting from other foods like red meat and cheese. ~ waves ~ |

And each seems to be on her own path. I'm on the braces diet -- don't feel like hassling about food unless it is mushy. Also I don't eat enough veggies unless I make an effort -- even before braces. Also, I'm conflicted about eating meat // being vegetarian / vegan. I wonder if being vegan is like being on any other journey -- we come to it at a certain time in our life, leave it, come back to it in a different place . . . . . . . . late night thoughts. . . . . =-=-=-=-=-=-=- Here is an easy food that hubby and I have been making. I buy two huge sweet potatoes. Then he peels them, cuts them up in fourths or fifths, and puts them on high in the mini crock pot with a few tablespoons of water. They are done about 4 -5 hours later. We eat them plain. He prefers the texture in the crock pot better over steamed on the stove or the microwave or baked in the oven. (And the oven is inefficient in that it heats up the whole kitchen.) The sweet potatoes have lots of nutrition and require no clean up, as the mini crock pot is easy to clean. M. |
