I'm conflicted about eating meat / being vegetarian / vegan.
I wonder if being vegan is like being on any other journey -- we come to it at a certain time in our life, leave it, come back to it in a different place . . . .
that makes sense. i have had this conflict since i my teens, and it affects my diet in waves, also. i've never been strictly vegan, but close: lacto-ovo-vegetarian, light on the lacto-ovo component. i was sensitive to milk back then too.

... i was quite sensitive to milk all my life in US and caribbean, but not here! must be something in the cow-food.

I don't eat enough veggies unless I make an effort -- even before braces.
i have been through periods where veggies were hard for me. then it was like, bean burritos from Taco Hell, lentils/beans and rice, yogurt with cereal... lol. do you like V8, Mari? bizi mentioned it... i used to do V8 myself when i had a hard time with veggies. also carrot juice or ACE if you like them (i don't so much).

my diet is grossly deficient in fruit. i try to compensate some with fruit juice, fwiw. :o

They are done about 4 -5 hours later.
We eat them plain.

that sounds good. i like no-fuss food. :)

my current no-fuss foods are microwaved baked potato, and steamed basmati rice. i eat both plain. the basmati i make as a dinner side for mom and me, but i cook extra. it reheats very well in the microwave, retaining texture. the leftover makes for ready snacks or lunches - good with leftover veggies too.

Waves

I meant to tell you that you wouldn't dare think to leave this thread.
You are definately still part of this thread.

We think anyone that is trying to do something is part.

Now for my lunch
I had a chicken salad sandwich, and piece of strawberry pie. Yes probably
more than I should have. But really good.

cool

thanks Beth and Donna for the reassurance. :) i did start to get worried about the official dieting thing, lol. silly waves. :p:rolleyes:

Donna i liked your lunch. i would have liked eating it myself even more! :D

Beth i hope your computer gets fixed up soon. what's the eta on that?

you sound like you're eating really well! Kudos to you! you're doing gym 3 nights a week tho still, right? not every night (that would seem excessive to me but, some ppl do...) oh and i meant to say before... i am glad you had that snack when you got hungry. with all the exercise you are getting, i don't know if 1200 calories is enough. i mean i think it's fine to keep it as a target, but i am glad you are listening to your body as well, when it says "HELLO I'M HUNGRRRRY!!!"

-----------

i did not eat that great today, but i didn't eat too much. i mostly nibbled on cheese. lol. cheese chunks and bread to chase down my indomethacin - been having a migraine past 2 days ugh. had a good dinner though. stewed ham steak with lentils, stewed chicory on the side. a small olive bread roll that mom got as a treat. (i normally do not have any bread with dinner.) then at midnight another dose of bread and cheese with the indomethacin lol.

i love cheese. it is one of my downfalls.

reporting...

for lunch, i had a CHEESE sandwich on wheat :p ... with a few pink olives in hot oil!

no snacks, and "healthy" dinner tho -
  • salmon filet, floured and sauteed... courtesy of mom
  • sauteed tri-color bell pepper slivers with onions, oregano and basil (only 1 TEAspoon oil for the pan, and 1 portion is 1/6 of that.)
  • sauteed zucchini and carrot slivers, with garlic and a little hot-pepper oil (from the spicy olives)
  • about 1/2 a microwaved potato, peeled, cut up, with pepper and a little olive oil (i only made them for my parents, but dad didn't want as much as usual... so i had a bit to "help" :rolleyes"
  • one square of dark chocolate for desert... courtesy of dad
(i made all the veggies :))

I went to my favorite eating place for lunch.

I had cheese pizza on a thin pita like crust. And a peanut butter cookie.

Then I went for my massage. Man its been almost 3 weeks since I
got one. So it was nice.

Cheese sandwhiches

Dear Waves,
In your other post you mentioned cheese too.
I think I love cheese -- although I don't have the choices available that you do. . . . also not knowledge able about it.
Except for his four week foray into South Beach Diet territory, hubby keeps cooked rice around. I often heat it up with shredded cheddar in the mircrowave -- sometimes add soy sauce. (He likes Basmati. Recently he found some Japanese rice in the back of the cupboard.

A rare fav of mine is GF bread toasted with mayo and mustard and Havartii cheese.

I miss you guys!!!!!!
It is awful not having access....:(
Being able to get on once a day is great but I used to be on for hours at night....I really miss it...last night I felt like I was literally going thru a withdrawl...I was craving the computer...sad....
still diting though not as strict...too hard.
Going to treat myself to a big dinner tonight.
Boiled crawfish and char broiled oysters, potatoes and corn with a dipping sauce made with real MAYO!!!!!!!:p
IF I am going to cheat then I am going to cheat all of the way!
I am down 10 pounds in 5 weeks.
the only difference to me is that I don't look as pregnant as I used to.
