i'm worried about it too... obviously i am safe but it's making a mess in the Bahamas.

if it can be of any reassurance, by the time it makes it up your way, IF indeed it makes it up your way, it should be a tropical storm. hopefully you will not be seeing a hurricane at all. tropical storms are no fun but if it does make that trajectory, it will have made landfall before and should disorganize enough that rains will be scattered rather than concentrated.

i have been monitoring the satellite imaging on wunderground. it has just veered a tad west again, sort of sharply from the forecast track. enough that i am like, whaa??? although it is STILL forecast to continue north, with this being a "kink" in its path, i can't help thinking if the kink were a true veer, the monster will crash and burn in south florida. oh so reassuring because of course i don't know anyone there either

----------
anyway, maybe just try to think in terms of getting some rainy weather, and plan for that. if you can sandbag the entrance from the porch to your apartment, it might be a good safety measure... you can ask the building if they will do that FOR YOU - selling point --> it is in their interest to avoid structural damage.

hang in there... it will be ok, really.

i made bulgur wheat salad with pesto yesterday, and some tomato and a little onion. next time no onion - it gave me heartburn for the first time. other than that it was good. a sort of alternative to tabouley. it is healthy, but not a "light food: by any means. pesto is rich - lots of oil and a little grated cheese in it by definition!

so, you are not alone with the food dealy either. and the scale is not my friend either.

it is easier to be good once you have been good but once you stop being good it is hard to be good again...at least that is my experience. the foods you mentioned sound yummy and healthy. it was great when the scale was my friend....right now i need to go to the senior center because i can't standd being isolated and i can't show the self control of not eating what i am not supposed to eat. yesterday i didn't eat the spinach but did eat the roast potatoes..naughty naughty

Awwww Bobby,

i'm naught so sure about your naughtiness.... i bet if *I* cooked you spinach you'd love it, and chow it right down!!! 'course, potatoes are always irresistable aren't they? i used to be able to avoid them when my parents have them... have been less and less good about that.

it is much easier to stick to a restrictive plan when other ppl aren't eating things you REALLYWANNAEAT right in front of your face! i mean, NO RESPECK!!!! maybe can do it for a while. but when you are in weaker times and need comfort... well all my good intentions go to that very sweaty place in a wicked basket.

sometimes we must pick our battles. right now you are picking the battle against isolation over that of weight. it's ok that you can't do both. in time, perhaps you will, but you need to get strong enough. and going to the center will help.

for the past months i picked the income battle, at the expense of sanity. now, i am picking sanity over income. right now, i can't handle both battles either.

let's hope we both get stronger, fast.

love

is the wundermap. on the right panel, click satellite. this shows the cloud cover. in the 'options' section, you can click animate. the color legend is on a separate tab ('legend') next to the 'options' one which is the default displayed.

yes but that was a full force hurricane i can't remember which one... David i think, and even though we only got a tail hit, the spot where we lived there was a hill on one side and a hill on the other. ok "bump" is more accurate - no major elevations there. but enough that all the rain flowed down and collected in OUR yard. i was a teen and though it was fun. neighborhood kids and i waded around in it much to the horror of all the parents. because there were trees and powerlines down you see.

the cats were NOT appreciative. the poor adopted-stray had disappeared just before the storm. he reappeared on a table we had around a tree and swam to the porch when we put food out. poor thing. he sort of precipitated stick-legged into the water... hated it. but we couldnot have got him because he was still not people-friendly. so that was the only way to get him nearer to the house where there was shelter in case of more rain. dunno where he went during the storm. it was like he materialized on that table. gotta love cats.

Dear Bobby,

'Thinking about you with the storm on its way.

I hope it runs past your area faster than the reports are saying. It can be difficult to wait out a storm -- although I did sleep through the roughest parts of Andrew and would have kept sleeping if my girl friend had not gotten me up a little after sunrise.
