Unhappy My right knee started hurting me today!

UGH!!! this afternoon, my right knee started hurting me for no reason!
My left knee was injured last month due to the fall...and I was going to have that looked at when i see the ortho on next wednesday.
My right knee is probably just overworked chronic stress related due to my job, down on my knees everyday washing peoples feet. I came home right after that and took 800mg of advil and glass of milk and iced it for 20 minutes. I am just going to have to pay attention to my activities, I may have to have my assistant wash their feet too....just what I need...something else to worry about...and another physical problem...
sigh

dear bizi something similar happened to me wheni injured my sesamoids in left foot... weight shifting and general antalgic movement meant that my right side bore a strain - in joints, posture/movements and weight that it was not used to. i think your right knee is saying hey i can't do the work of two like my feet did. your job with different postures using your knees will bring this out.

glad you are takin care of the knees now, pls take it easy. i wonder if a knee support would help while you were working. thing is sometimes those things can be real uncomfortable, more damage than help.

love

Oh no! That sounds really painful, I am sorry you're having these physical issues right now when you're still healing from the shoulder injury. I definitely would have your assistant do the washing part now too at least for awhile, I wouldn't be surprised if the shoulder injury is somehow affecting your knee. Hang in there Bizi! Thinking of you!

Red face

My physical therapist friend convinced me that it was inflamation so I listened to her and started taking the advil instead of the tylenol. and my knee feels fine, I tried for some of the day to baby my knees by sitting on a stool while I wash there feet, but that put more strain on my back.
I worked longer today and am tired and my shoulder is a bit sore. I am going to take more advil and ice down my knee again tonight(even though it feels fine)...jeff just got home and we are going out to eat!
thanks for asking and the support.
I saw my therapist last night and was manic there and that is the first time she has seen me like this....I see her again in 2 weeks.
It really shook me up to think that my other knee was giving out on me...I was a mess with her. Told her that I was trying to be the perfect person, patient and boss to my assistant so she won't quit...and I just cried finally asking her when I was going to get a break. She told me that I was doing everything possible for my shoulder to heal and that I would get thru this...which was reassuring. I told her I missed going to the gym and she assured me that this was temporary and that I would be able to go back in the future. I told her that I was not thinking right because when I got there she had me wait 15 minutes past our appointment time and in my head I thought she was punishing me...which I knew was irrational but I still felt that way....that was not good.
I am tired and hungry so I will sign off and come back later to read everyones threads to get caught up.
bye for now

Aw hun.... hang in there

I hope you have rested a bit and had a good meal...

About need, yeah, like everybody else, I think it is too much for it because the other one is injured... so that's why it probably was tired and hurt.... Advil sounds good, but Im not a fan... LOL, what about some flanax ?? or some cream like.... lonol ?? Those exist in the US right ? Ice sounds pretty good and relaxing too... And, as I always say when somebody has something immafled... drink cold chamomille tea !!! it works pretty good for everything !!!

Hope the shoulder is better !!!

You sure have your hands full Bizi, hang in there it WILL pass, I know it stinks right now, but you're doing everything you can and that's all you can do. I am sure your assistant likes working with you, and in this economy I doubt she's even thinking of quitting, so hang in there!

Bizi, you were sounding like the walking wounded for a while...

I'm glad your left knee and shoulder feel better today. The left knee was probably sore because you were relying on it because of the painful right knee.

I remember all the bending, leaning, and squatting while taking care of patients... all you can do is be aware of what you are doing and try to stay in good shape.
It sounds like you are already doing everything you can.
