Hi Mari

I hope I can break the trust. so far I don't know. I have not had money for lawyers. I have been going though legal aid of Manasota, so far all they said is Yes I can sell the house. So now it is with the realtors, and their lawyers are taking a look to see if goes through. Nobody though the legal agency was willing to talk in person with me. Have been trying since last Dec. 12th to get some kind of council.
I plan just as you said. Off the island out of the flood plain. citizens insurance dropped another 750,000 customers. They do not want me or this house, and this forces people to live with no insurance. That is russian roulette, and I don't care to play. I am so glad I have this site and your support as I go forward to find solutions. Thanks Mari, I so appreciate you and the support from NT. ginnie

Dear Ginnie,

By any chance do you have a family member who served in the military?

Maybe it helps you to think of what will be good about your new place. When you move inland off the island you will be out of a mandatory evacuation zone. You will feel less pressure about watching for storms.

Yes, Citizen's only wants brand new houses in safe areas. After you get yourself settled somewhere, you will be so happy to be able to think of something else. Are you going to rent at the next place?

Probably you could do the things that you are already doing: forms of prayer, thoughts and feelings of gratitude and love, forgiveness and love of yourself. I wonder if forgiving oneself and learning to love oneself can help recovery from a traumatic childhood.

Maybe find a way to talk about the past in a way that is comfortable to the tdoc. Have you told her that your childhood affects you minute by minute all day and in most interactions / activities? I think I remember that when you bring up the past, she tries to redirect you. Ask her to spend more time on those techniques and give you more detail and more practice.

. . . . some thoughts.

M

thank you for the thoughts. she does try to redirect me and point to the positive. i don't think she understands bipolar suffering and i don't see how i can make her understand. she doesn't understand how i can walk through motions but have at times these unbearable emotions that make me feel i am on the edge of a cliff with the only direction down. i don't see how things can get better but only worse. i cling to religion because that is the only thing that seems to work. something huge outside of myself and outside of my experience where I read and listen and try not to doubt.

so Bobby, i agree since you have dreams and a feeling the past haunts you, you might need - at very least - to gain a basic grasp on things, learn what patterns you are following so you can choose different ones. i think it is the same as learning from mistakes. we cannot learn if we do not know or see what is wrong in what we are believing or doing. even if an authority tells us "this belief you have is unhealthy" we will not really believe it inside... so we will not change unless we really deeply understand that it is. to do that, i personally believe it helps us to understand how we acquired the belief so that we can really strongly challenge it for ourselves, within ourselves, and build new ones, and with them new, healthier behaviors.

i think you are right and i had to read what you wrote four times so i know you are right. my dreams are so very scattered. i try to analyze them but there seems to be no pattern except change.

Yes military

Hi Mari, Yes, my son was in the Navy for 6 years. During the first Gulf war. He was stationed over in the thick of things and went in right after high school. Remember the archillo largo fiasco? Seans' ship was the first rescue ship to help. Can't remember how to spell that ship that had emergency. I only know he gave all his cloths, to those rescued at sea. He had alot of stories to tell, and some that he could not.
I don't know if I should rent or purchase. Sean would have the house in his name in anycase, since medicare.medaid don't want me to to have anything. ginnie

Ginnie,

As ex-military, your son can join USAA: https://www.usaa.com/inet/pages/ContactUsMain
It is an insurance company with decent rates and decent customer service. They can let him know if they have house insurance in your part of Florida. You and he would be able to trust them.

Hi Mari

I sure will look into this, but I don't think either of us will qualify for any kind of insurance. I actually passed my inspection with the insuance company after hardening my home. They dropped me anyway. Citizens is the insurer of last resort. They do not want houses on an island. They also do not have enough to cover those that are insured with them. I actually went to the newpapers over this issue and made a headline, as the insurance company insisted I harden my home, and canceled anyway. It is corrupt down here. Will look into the site, and tell my son about it. thanks ginnie

Mari 06-04-2012 12:58 PM

Ginnie,

You are right. It will be hard to get insurance on an island.
I am talking about insurance on the next place you move to. Find out what USAA will cover next time. It is good to have information.
