i just called the tax office and they said they didn't have my return and that it usually takes eight weeks if it is a mail in. I mailed it in March. I asked what to do and she said if i have a copy mail it in again. I have certified receipt from the last copy.

Bobby,

Zoloft lowers seizure threshold a teeny bit.
Wellbutrin lowers seizure threshold significantly.

Their effects are additive. Your doctor almost certainly knows these things. It's not a huge concern if one doesn't have epilepsy.

Those with epilepsy are much more sensitive to these effects, and can require changes in anticonvulsant therapy.

You do not have epilepsy. You will be ok. And I'm very glad to hear the Zoloft might be kicking in.

Hi
I read two articles not to mix them that they increase the risk for seizures and the articles didn't mention epilepsy

I didn't know was about Wellbutrin raising Zoloft blood levels. This is prob why your doc put you on an extra-slow increase program.

I couldn't see anything new on the risk of seizures here.

Interactions checker has to warn about it. Its relevance is much greater if one has epilepsy. But also ppl sometimes take other meds or have other stuff going on... that's why people are supposed to talk to their doctor first. It does not say "do not take".

It also says the elderly are "more likely" to be subject to the interaction, but remember that "more likely to" doesn't mean "likely to". If a regular person has a 1% chance of having a seizure, and a peron on wellbutrin has a 5% chance... they are more likely to. "Likely to" would be if there was a >50% chance. If adding Zoloft makes it a 6% chance... that's "more likely" than "5%" but not by a lot, and still not "likely to". So try not to let all these things get to you. I thought you had found some new study ....

Still, by all means wait to talk to your doctor again before increasing, if you are worried.

love

at least one of the articles said it would heighten the risk of seizures among the elderly. I looked more and saw that many many people are put on this combination. I was told that klonopin which i am lessens the risk of seizures.
I don't know if i will mention it to the psychiatrist or not. In another day i will up the zoloft to 75. I think this doc just starts slow. he did so on cymbalta and started me on a low dosage. when he upped it i had cognitive difficulties.

Yes, Klonopin is an antiepileptic / raises seizure threshold.

I think you should mention your concern to your doctor.

i didn't sleep last night. i was worried about my taxes being accepted. i tried to think of the worse case scenario. I just took my pills and i raised the zoloft as directed. i am now on 75mg.
I feel unstable and scared.
abby was up most of the night with me and wanted to be petted. she seems to be okay right now. pudge spent the whole day under the bed. she came out later when i called her.
I wish i weren't so scared. I spoke with my friend in Israel and mentioned the taxes and she said she had a friend who was having a horrible time with the irs and at first they were negotiating and she was paying it off but then they lost the record and charged her more. she had to hire somebody. that really set me off. i wish she hadn't mentioned it.
