I spoke with susan tonight. She sounded better. Did not know when she was coming home. She is staying with her one sister and her other sister is coming to visit on the 19th so she will be in north carolina for a few days after that. I asked her if she was going to the farm, she said that was an option.
It was good to hear from her....did not really learn much but is reassuring that she called me. Oh I forgot....can't rmember if I told you this but her mother has been in the hospital for 3 months and can't be weaned off the vent. Her mother is basically in a vegetative state. Her father can't just let go of her and let her die in peace she has been like this for 8 years, she had several strokes long ago. I wonder if all of the daughters coming together are trying to talk some sense into him. so very hard.
WE went out and had pizza for dinner, jeff did not feel like cooking and I got home late from work at 6;30pm.
It was a very yummy pizza, we each had our own.
mine was called the garden, (meatless), olive oil sauce, onions, mushrooms, garlic, spinach, tomatoes, artichokes, feta and mozzarella cheese plus jalepenos. It was delicious!
WE also ate some onion rings which were good too.
Now I am stuffed and it is getting close to bed time.
I am working tomorrow.
Have to get up earlier than normal. Agreed to go out of town for a 9 am appointment.
Jeff and I have taken a walk around the neighborhood about 2 miles it is cooler after all of the rain that we have been having.
Can't remember if I told you that they finished the shed, roof fixed and painted it looks so nice. WE finally had the dining room chandelier installed and jeff got a new outlet in his bathroom. So we got those two projects crossed off our list!

Well today went very well. In fact it turned out to be an excellent day!
Up early before the alarm went off. Coffee and out the door at 8:30am.
Saw 2 clients and picked up Jeff (His car has some sort of electrical problem and is unreliable...the car has an appointment on tuesday)and went to lunch. Had delicious chicken and sausage gumbo, like our usual Saturdays.
Dropped him off at home and then saw 3 more clients, getting home before 5. Even though it rained off and on all day, I managed to stay dry!
When I got home, Hubby was drinking a beer so I decided to make some coffee and had 2 cups. Jeff made dinner tonight, sauteed boneless pork chops and steamed mixed veggies and 2 kisses. It was very tasty!
After dinner I changed out of my scrubs and into a long summery Orangey cotton sleeveless dress for Art walk. Think down town Art galleries staying open until 9 pm and serving free wine and snackies. This is the event that happens every 2nd saturday of the month.
We frequently partake in this activity.
We usually see people we know and have fun seeing the art.
Packed with 2 small umbrellas because it has been raining off and on all week (rain forecasted for next week as well) we started at one of the smaller galleries. WE probably went thru 6 galleries total.
The only thing I ate all night was some fresh fruit at the first stop, a bank: pineapple and strawberries and a piece of melon. Refreshing!
Water from a wine glass was the only thing I drank and that was very unsatisfying. So I ditched the wine glass pronto! There was a recycling container on the street which I was happy to see!
I survived an art walk even though they were serving free wine!
The last gallery we went to was the ACA, Acadiana Center for the Arts.
There are many rooms/spaces there housing beautiful artwork this month.
The Artist Mare Martin was being exhibited in the main gallery.
She is from a neighboring town called Opelousas which is about a 45 minute ride from here in Lafayette Louisiana.
The huge main gallery was filled with her work.
WE LOVED THE EXHIBIT!
So much so that I overheard a guest speak to one of the curators and followed them to a piece of work that she had a question about. I then spoke with this man about how much I loved her work. And was curious about one of the pieces for sale. At the front desk, he introduced me to Mary the other curator. Well I gushed on and on to Mary about how much I loved the show. Price sheet in hand, we went back into the main gallery and she told us the price of one of the pieces that we loved was $3,000. I thought she was going to say $5,000. She then took me around to other pieces and told me their prices. She said we should buy a new piece of art every year. We closed the place down. Security locked the doors behind us as we left.
Much to think about.
WE came back home and talked about some of the work that we saw and where it could fit into our home and we really don't have any wall space for a big piece except for our bedroom.
I did a face book search and a google search to see if she if she has a site.
Nope.
There was a link that led to a gallery in New Mexico but unfortunately could not find any art work to view once at the site.
Rats.
We decided the only way we could afford her work would be to take it out of our vacation fund and we did not want to do that.
So that is that.
It was very exciting to be in the ACA Gallery and see so much good work there. Best group of work that we have seen in a long time.
Between 2 cups of coffee and going GAGA over her work, I became a bit dizzy and had to write this day out.
I am feeling a bit peckish so will have an apple.
Jeff is practicing and watching the bride of frankenstin.

Sounds like you enjoyed the evening a great deal, as did I just now, through your telling.

It's nice too, how you and Jeff discussed the practicalites of buying something from this artist. Sounds like your feet are firmly planted on the ground right now.

thank you waves, I loved her sketches...full of details etc. Did you look at her Levity piece? she used to be a landscape designer, some of those drawings were exhibited as well from the 90's.

I looked at the Levity piece just now... the way she captures light is amazing.

At the gallery there was one wall filled with some of her sketches/studies for different paintings. Fascinating! the minute details that she wrote/observed where so special.
