I would also look at the fact that the first told you there wasn't an apartment available. Guessing that they knew you wouldn't consider and 3rd floor apartment either way, so maybe he is having to move say for an job. Or hoping this isn't the case but say he is an government worker and is not liking the looks of the job situation there and is moving in with family because of what is going on. There are many reasons other than a problem with the apartment that he might be moving. I'm going to say that in my opinion, someone up higher has decided you needed an break and this is it. I will wait anxiously to hear from you that you were able to see the new apartment!
congratulations on your continued sobriety!!!! I still think you are amazing! love bizi :hug::hug: |
Kay,
I am hopeful that you will get the right apartment. 'Sending lots of luck and good wishes. M |
When I went to the office to beg Janet to move us to a new apartment, I was honest, and told her that in addition to all of my medical problems, I have mental health issues, and all the constant racket upstairs was causing me problems. I asked if she needed a doctor's note. And at one point, when I got thoroughly frustrated, I asked her if I needed to get a lawyer. That may be why the property manager, George, was able to magically find a couple of apartments to offer us. Maybe he didn't expect us to be interested in either of them tho.
I would like Corey to look at the apartment with me, but I never know when he will be home from work. Janet's not going to wait around all day for him to become available. I just don't want him to be upset with me for taking the apartment only to have him end up being unhappy with it for some reason. We love our current apartment, and are very comfortable here (aside from the noise). I hope the other apartment was remodeled in the same way, so we could be just as comfortable there. I know that the layout is reversed because it's on the opposite side of the building, and it has a patio that is larger than our deck. I guess I will just have to wait 2 weeks to find out what the apartment looks like. I'm going to have to find ways to distract myself so I don't get too worked up. Corey has to go away Monday and Tuesday night for work. Otherwise, he would have to drive 4 hours a day in addition to working on the job site. I don't know what I'll do with myself. I will miss him :( Saturday night, we're going to get a foot or more of snow. Then 3-5" more of snow and ice Sunday morning. The only saving grace for me is that for once, Corey will be home to help me dig out and clean off my car. |
UGh, for you on the snow. We are getting quite a bit too.
They keep changing the amount so I can't even begin to know the amount now. So I'm just hoping its not the 12inches they originally forecast. This is very close this weekend to the anniversary of the blizzard of 1978 which everyone is talking about. Ugh. That is not anything I want to remember. Oh well I know I'm here at home snug as a bug. Donna :grouphug: |
My niece is supposed to get 3 feet of snow in new york where she is living with her boy friend.
yikes. Sorry for all of the havoc the snow causes and disrupts your lives. I feel for my MIL who lives alone. Thank goodness her son(Brian, jeffs brother) lives 18 minutes away on a good day. Fortunately she has a man who will shovel her out.I don't see her driving in the snow at all. Her son will help with groceries and such. bizi |
The weather:
Bizi, I can't believe your MIL is still driving at all! I'm sure you're thrilled about that. I'm glad that she will be shoveled out, and Jeff's brother will help her get ready for the storm. 3 feet of snow is something ridiculous to contend with no matter how young and healthy people are. I hope your niece and her boyfriend stay safe  I hope you don't get the 12" they're saying you will get, Donna. Either way, I'm glad you are snug as a bug inside  Our forecast has changed a little... now we're supposed have snow showers throughout the day, and 8-12" mostly overnight, but really nothing tomorrow. But that could change. Weather forecasts are forever evolving. Everything else: My surgeon called yesterday to check in on me. She asked why I hadn't called about my issues, and I told her about the problems with her admin in her Boston office (where she is most of the time). She told me to call her suburban office in the future instead. She told me to try two different things- starting with one thing (an extra FiberCon tablet at night), and if that didn't work, try the other (a dose of Mirilax at night). The problem is that both of those things may not have the desired effect, and may give me more diarrhea instead. She said she would call me in a couple of weeks to check in on me (or I could call her), and if those things don't help, we could discuss prescription medication. I may have to see her in her office for a different problem at some point. Yesterday, I ran into Maggie, one of the girls who lived for years in the 1st floor apartment that we may move into. I asked her if she had any problems while living there- like a lot of outside noise, etc. She said that the only things that may be bothersome are that it can get cold, so you have to turn the heat way up sometimes (our landlords pay for the heat and hot water tho), and sometimes you can smell the cigarette smoke from the next-door neighbors (we're smokers, so that won't be that bothersome). She said she and her sister were very happy there, and would still be living there if the apartment wasn't so outdated. They moved to a renovated apartment on the 3rd floor, then the 1st floor apartment was renovated when they moved out.. She mentioned that the guy that's living in the 1st floor apartment now is never home, not even late at night. I've noticed that, too. She thinks that he's probably moving in with his girlfriend. THAT would make sense. So, I feel A LOT better after speaking to Maggie. And when I told Corey about everything she said, he felt a lot better, too. |
Well the apartment was good news! already remodeled!
great! Corey happy, even better. bizi |
The Apt situation is looking better!
I hope you get exactly what you and Corey want. M |
Thank you ladies :grouphug:
I did know that the downstairs apartment was remodeled. I just don't know how/if it differs from our current apartment. There's no way to know until I can get a look at it. I forgot to mention that I ran into my upstairs neighbor, Ellen, on Friday when I was on my way out. She said, "how are you doing sweetheart?" like everything was fine. I did not want to talk to her, but she was standing in front of the door blocking my way out, so I had no choice anyway. I was polite. She said her cat had breast cancer, and she had to put it down later in the day. Obviously, I felt bad, and said some kind words. She's very personable. I wish she could just be normal like that all the time, but she's NOT. And I'm amazed that she thinks I would want to buddy up with her knowing that we're moving because of her and her "husband's" terrible behavior (I know Mary told her we're moving). It's just bizarre. I don't think I really have it in me to be mean without direct provocation, so I've just been trying to avoid her because of that. After everything that's gone on, I obviously really don't like her, and I don't want to be fake. So, it makes me feel uncomfortable. I don't know how much snow we ended up getting, but it wasn't as much as they forecasted. Right now we're getting freezing rain, and will be getting a wintery mix all day. They expect the snow and ice to accumulate to another 3-5", but who knows? The temperature is going to drop to 3 degrees tonight, and tomorrow's high will be 8 degrees with a low of 3 again. I will not be going anywhere. And I will have to try to rely on e-cigarettes. Corey's leaving tomorrow for work. He will be gone for at least 2 nights :( |
