I am sorry donna. The weather is crazy!
and the temperatures are so cold.

I feel sorry for my indiana family and you.:(

Dmom3005 01-21-2019 10:38 PM

Thanks everyone,
Derrick and his dad came in from town and shopping when
I was posting before. They got his phone, and me some groceries.
And an couple of Double cheeseburgers.

I'm not sure how much more this week I'll get done but hoping
to get to town tomorrow I am supposed to do some working
tomorrow night. Taking Derrick and Meluvja with me.
Probably should take Derrick home, but I'm being stingy
want another night with him. I'll take him home on Wednesday.
Hoping that isn't a mistake. He switched his Tuesday for THursday
so I'm just hoping I can get him to town on Wednesday.

Its also that way I shouldn't try and cancel my doctors appointment
hopefully we will see.

I'm supposed to do things in town here with a couple parents
at the library on THursday so that should be good.

Donna :grouphug::hug:

OhKay 01-22-2019 01:20 PM

I'm glad that Derrick got a new phone! Is he excited about it?
It was nice of the guys to think of buying groceries and picking up burgers on their way home :)

I don't blame you for wanting another night with your partner in crime.
I hope everything works out, and you don't have to reschedule your appointment with the NP again.

Dmom3005 01-22-2019 06:49 PM

I decided just in case I couldn't get back to town tomorrow. Because
of the way the weather is I'd take Derrick home. Doby is still
here. But I really am not sure its going to happen tomorrow.

Its been lousy all over today. I didn't go to the activity tonight thanks
to the weather so I'm really thinking I'll be rescheduling tomorrow too.

Its just a normal day again.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

OhKay 01-23-2019 01:29 PM

Do you mean you have to reschedule your appointment with the NP again?

Dmom3005 01-23-2019 02:46 PM

Yes, I did already. Its okay though this time I decided not to
do it for a couple weeks. I double checked my meds last night.

I've gotten plenty for probably the next 3 months. So I'm good.

I was worried last night. But was just going to ask if they would
ask her to fill it for me. Till then.

But Ill live till then. Its made that the big deal for me.
And I'll wait till then and go. I just know this weekend hasn't got
a good forecast for us either. I'm just hoping that next Thursday
is okay, I'd hate to have to cancel Thursday again.

Ugh, that would be awful. Its par for course this weather though.:grouphug:

Donna

Dmom3005 01-24-2019 11:04 AM

Well I was really worried about all the wind and the cold yesterday
brought. It was supposed to be still today. I had let the dogs
out this morning thought wow its a nice morning, knowing it
might not last but at least it was good this morning. But was
worried I wouldn't be able to get my door open. I need to
go to the library to meet a parent at 1:00pm. I cancelled another
parent at noon, because I'm worried what she needs is going
to take a lot longer than an hour if she doesn't exactly know how
we get to what she needs. Since I have no clue were it is.

So she is going to do what she can, and I'll check back with her
later when I have more time.

But I went out to see that my door opened really nice. I thought
wow, it was like no wind at all. Came back in, did some things
then picked up my phone. And saw I had a message from my
husband, he had unfrozen my car door this morning. Yah, he
hadn't forgotten it freezes and I can't open it.

He had saved me I was afraid I'd have to ask the parent to
come by and get me this afternoon first, I live on her way so
it was not a problem, but it was embarrassing.
Donna :hug::grouphug:

bizi 01-24-2019 12:16 PM

nothing embarrassing about asking for help for a ride. cna't help that your door freezes.

I had an old car that's door locks froze all the time every winter. I was late for EVERYTHING until I started stocking up on this lock de-icer thing. It was a PITA, so I feel your pain. I'm so glad that Dale took care of your door for you today :)

Dmom3005 01-24-2019 02:38 PM

Bizi

I was only embarrassing because she is a client. But I would
have asked. Heehee

But it would have been life. But didn't need to.

Donna :grouphug::hug:

Dmom3005 01-26-2019 09:10 PM

I'm getting a little worried about this next week. Its going to be
the coldest week of the year so far. And I'm so hoping its going
to be the coldest of the year period. Its going to mean I'm
probably going to have to cancel Derrick's Medical alert on Thursday
ahead of time, because my car wont start that day, its to be
in the negatives Tuesday, Wednesday and THursday for sure.

Um, -10 to -30 I think so I know I wont be going anywhere.

I'll be lucky if I can keep warm. Its just life in my area of the
woods. I've even been thinking of taking off to somewhere
warmer, but heehee where.

Korni loaned her car to a friend of her's thankfully she has insurance
liability for sure. Haven't asked if more than that.

But he was visiting a friend, who is dying soon. For the last time,
He fell asleep at the wheel bringing her car back, less than two blocks
from her apartment, and totaled it. Hitting a brick house. I feel
so sorry for her. She now has to get a new car seat let alone, try
and buy a new car. He is pretty much homeless. Luckily someone
is letting him and his wife live in a place they own that they get
utilities I think from the place, I think its a place that they over see.
To make sure it doesn't get robbed, don't think owners are there.

I am sorry for your cold temps coming....that means it will be cold for my folks as well. And my MIL and sisters too. All my family in IN.

I’m so glad you are going to stay in during that terrible cold snap, Donna. I hope you can stay toasty inside :hug::hug:

Poor Kortni!!! I hope everything works out okay for her!

Dmom3005 01-27-2019 05:54 PM

My son Dan came to her rescue yesterday. When he and my
husband Dale went to town last night. I was supposed to pick
her up a car seat. He did.

I'm so pleased with him. They also took Derrick's dog Doby home,
and the three of them went out to eat and to a couple places.
I wasn't feeling well but was asked to go. If I had felt better I
would have gone.

Bizi, Yes, they are, and I can say for sure they are getting this
mess too. There schools in the area were cancelled on Friday.
Nothing about tomorrow yet. But we all got snow last night and
yesterday and the low numbers and teens in lows today. Not
sure if the negatives with wind chill. I'm just glad I have a warm
house.

I'll do what I can to help Kortni, but it will have to wait on warmer
weather. I was going to go get them so they could visit with Dan
this mornign but my car door wouldn't open, for me or Dan.
He really tried.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

OhKay 01-28-2019 08:55 AM

I read on the weather channel site that the negatives were with the wind chills, but those low, low temps are bad enough. I feel so badly for everyone going through it :hug::hug:

I'm glad to hear that Dan is doing well, Donna

I'm sorry about your car. What a PITA. I wish you could get a new one

Dmom3005 01-28-2019 10:26 AM

Kay

The problem with my car is its a PT cruiser and I love it.

Its the one I had wanted for years. And I really don't want
a new one. And I'm getting my mom's as soon as my sister
gets back from there cruise if the title has come in.

But my husband has been looking for me a new car for a while
now. That is the problem, he likes to buy new vehicles but
other than asking what I like he then goes to buy it without me.
Most of the time anymore. I personally would rather be in
the looking too. But this kind of weather no thanks.

I just cancelled the one thing I was doing this week for sure thanks
to this weather. Its just to cold. But its okay, the medic alert
will be back scheduled after the guy is back from vacation.
And hopefully the weather is more co-operative

Mari 01-29-2019 03:17 AM

One day hubby called me and said I needed to get home before 5:00 p.m. to pick up a car that he bought for me.

=-=-

I was busy doing errands but he was insistent.

I went with him and drove the car home.
It saved me the B.S. of hearing a word
from the salesman.

I like the car and because hubby likes the car he takes it in for maintenance
and such.

M

Dmom3005 01-29-2019 11:23 AM

Yes, my husband used to let me have a say this last one
I had been wanting an pt Cruiser for a long time. And he
knew it. I didn't realize he was looking for me one. We would
go to lots and I'd look at pt cruisers just to look. Because they
were always to high in price to him. So I was really surprised
when it was in my drive. But its probably the only car he has
not let me help pick out.

Which was really not true it was my dream car, other than he
always thinks we need red vehicles. So its red.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

Mari 01-29-2019 07:18 PM

That's cool that he like red cars.

:)

bizi 01-29-2019 08:37 PM

my car is red too.:)
I have white feet on the back side windows.
bizi

OhKay 01-30-2019 09:42 AM

I bought our last car without Corey. He is NOT patient and can't be bothered with such things lol. But I told him that he is going to have to be involved when we buy our next car.

Dmom3005 01-31-2019 01:53 PM

I will work on finding another car. My biggest problem is I'm
having a hard time getting rid of my pt cruiser.

I have come to a thought that maybe an hr what ever they
are called would be okay. Because it looks a lot like a pt.
But its a little longer. Or maybe an suv, but we will see.

I just want a say in what we get.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

Mari 02-01-2019 06:13 AM

I hope that you get a car that you like, Donna.

You should get a say. :)

Dmom3005 02-01-2019 11:52 PM

Thanks Ladies

Right now its as you probably noticed. 11:43 pm in my neck
of the woods on Friday. Wow, what a day. No heat last
night. Thanks to the water in the basement, 1000 gallons just
running through. I can't stop it. So I had to find the hubby
and get him here. He got here from the house him and Dan
are at pretty fast. Got it off, and said. He'd be back this weekend
to get the water. Nothing about turning back on the heat. Well it
was 8:00 or later and not bad, and the weather was over 20 then.
So I just warmed up and stayed with the animals. And was fine.
I texted at midnight, telling him it was getting cold to make sure
he came by tonight to bring me a heater so I had some heat.

He can at 4:30am to turn the heat on. At noon, when it was still
cold heat coming out. He had been checking, he said. No heat
at all. Its not working. I said, nope its cold air. So we turned
heater off and 5 minutes later back on. Nothing at all.

He took off from work, came home and stayed here. For 4 or 5 hours
working to get it on, and make sure it stayed on. Something about it
being a water running through, furnace. SO it was frozen in the bottom,
so when he got it started in about 15 minutes at first it would stop. SO
he first rigged to pass, till it unfroze by him doing something. But warmed
it up while doing. Then he went to eat and rest. At 5:15 or 5:30 saying
on his way out. If the water starts call me. At 6:40 I started calling
and after 2 or 3 times I got him, he was back. No water at all now. But
my bottled water. No heat for 2 hours. Now heat and toasty. SO I'm
finally a lot warmer again. WIll turn it down before bed. Was thinking
tomorrow was needing a hotel. But looking better.

Been a long week. I'm hoping the 30's 40's and so are really coming.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend. Me just to have heat is nice.
I have bottled water, and will check my car today. Thats all I need

Dmom3005 02-04-2019 09:24 PM

This morning I learned one of the most amazing gentlemen in our
small little county died. He was the teacher, principal and the superintendent.
Of my kids, But more important he was an champion of all kids, adults and
people know matter who or what they were like or did.

He would leave money at the Fowler IGA, the Dollar General and other places, and ask the clerks, to make sure the folks who needed the money when they came through with little amounts of things, and their last dollar's would get it for free. And then he would do some of the most amazing. He collected appliances, and offered them for free, asking only that people when in better situations would pay it forward.
He helped one of my families when he was leaving our schools, being pushed out. Going to another superintendent position, by telling our special ed director to make sure the young man got a placement. Residential and he did, he then passed his card and phone number to the mom, said call anytime of day or night. till placement if you need something. Even if its your other son that needs it. He deserves some help too.

He was one of a kind, he was the one that provided the bus for Derrick to get to his internship and then paid job, in Lafayette In, when it was unknown of being done, it was usually the parent or kids place. But he couldnt' because of seizures.

We are a sad community, better for having known him. Donna:grouphug::grouphug:

Dmom3005 02-07-2019 01:25 PM

ugh, such an day or two.

I had an really weird day yesterday. I had an add to my day at 8:00pm
the night before. An parent I've been working with had gotten ahold
of me and met me at the event I was at. And then at that time, after
the assistant director and I had talked to her for about an hour told
me that the next morning at 8:00am. We were having an meeting with
the co-op at the building. SO we did. Heehee, I also had an doctors
appointment with my cancer NP, at 10:45am, that I hadn't realized I
had till a few days before. So I went to that appointment and I went
a little early, had forgotten with the mess we had. But was supposed
to have blood work first, so they sent me to have it. And I did. The
np was running late. So it helped. The blood work was fine.
But I was having pains in the left breast area. It was odd, it does
come up as phantom pain off and on. But I can usually take deep
breathes and it go away. But not yesterday and it was not going
away for anything, the day just kept getting worse. But I was tired
and finally went to take a nap, and it got better. But I was so tired
I went to bed early and was fine this morning. SO it was good.
I will ask the NP this next Wednesday or make an appointment with
my doctor if it continues, but the NP at that office didn't find a thing
that it could be. So no clue. Anyway, all is good for 6 months.

I was heading to town to take Derrick money but vetoed that It's so
foggy can't see very far ahead, he has enough money till Saturday
and I'm going in then for sure. SO its fine.

Long couple days. Just life.

Donna :hug::grouphug:

Dmom3005 02-08-2019 12:56 PM

Well its 18 or below that again today. My car door is frozen shut
since we had lots of wind again last night and today. Thats
okay I wasn't going anywhere anyway.

I did let the hubby know so he can open it so I can tomorrow when
he gets home. Its been an interesting day.
