Default Weekend and more January 30, 2009

Hi all, I titled it that way. Because I'm not sure how much I'll be on for a while.

Derrick and I are doing okay. Nothing big planned for the weekend. Which
is good from were I'm sitting. I'm not having the best of weeks since
Wednesday. Not sure why.

I'm getting ready to have gallbladder surgery on Wednesday February 4th.
And I'm just hoping its not my gallbladder deciding to act early.

Red face Dear Donna

I was getting ready to start a thread for you to wish you the best for your surgery... but i have to confess i got stalled because i wasn't sure what the surgery was for and wanted to go back in old threads and look it up rather than just ask...

well, i have been thinking of you a lot today, and sending you best wishes for a smooth procedure and rapid recovery. i believe you will be alright.

first get good rest when you come home... don't stress about the forum... we will be here. of course we will all be anxious to hear from you, so... that said, do check in when you are able without causing yourself hardship, k?

i haven't made plans for the weekend as any plan i make seems to be thwarted either by my inner demons or my outer housemates. my hope is to get a good shower, wash my hair, change my bedding and get the old ones in the wash. oh, and do some handwash. and i still have a certain box i have to tackle. if i had plans, that's what they would be. they are "hopes" at this point. lol.

you take care and i will be thinking of you.

Hope everyone else is doing ok... it's been quiet here lately. Do i have that effect on forums, or what? (wait, i think that's called magical thinking. never mind.) seriously... where is everyone... check in...

Default anyone use 2007 Microsoft Office System??

Hi,

Thank you, you two. It is nice to see you.

My old computer crashed at work so the office of IT got me a new old hard drive and installed the "new" operating system MS Office 2007. It stinks. I can't do anything -- not even figure out Outlook mail. Doing something with WORD took me forever tonight. I stayed late at work and still came home frustrated.

Donna, I remember that you had a lot of tests just before Christmas. Did they find any other surgeries to do? Or are you going to be able to settle down after the gall bladder surgery?

Waves, I hope that you are starting to feel "more" better since the last time we heard from you.
Washing laundry and self sounds productive. I like laundry because I can feel like I accomplished something with big piles of clothes even though I am not involved in the act of cleaning -- machine does a good job.
Washing self is less appealing. I'm gonna go with Bobby's explanation she gave one time. I think the stimulation is too hard to deal with. And never mind the anxiety I can muster just by thinking about it.

I have memories of my mother doing the household laundry by hand. Even so, I think that I have gotten past the whole laundry is a source of anxiety thing -- even if hubby tries to make it so by pointing out this and that or offering a complaint occasionally.

The weather turned cold (cold for us) here in the afternoon -- kind of weird.

But tomorrow will be sunny and I like the sun.

Post bored and uptight

Hi Barbara... whatchup to this weekend? How's your photoshopping going?

Hi Mari... good to see you too. well, i got the bedding in the wash, pretreated the would-be-handwash to death and threw it in there too, fingers crossed. i set the machine to a lower temp than the program expects, but the program would let me do the lower temp with the "express/fast" button pressed - for "lightly soiled" clothes. the program number is the same, and the temp selector is separate, so i figured screw it, push the buttons for the longer cycle, and set the temp lower. honestly, it should work, but beats me how they design these things. well lets hope my hand-wash doesn't need hand-washing afterwards. i figure, at worst it will need a little help but will be clean basically and i won't have as much hassle or time standing bent over the sink, nor any urgency if i'm not inclined to see to it today. so THERE. pththhhhh.

have not got to the shower and/or hair yet. ugh. it's not the stimulation for me right now... it's dammm cold here and... oh there are ISSUES with showering in this house... so help me.... i anyway. i also have these weird rules about having to be all clean as for clean sheets ... as in i have to wash my hair the SAME DAY - even if its relatively clean grr... i am weird. but my hair needs washing so the rule even makes sense right now so i am caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.

the infamous box is... still there. it exists.

i tried to toss in a bonus and vacuum the sides of my sleeper couch and ... ooops... it's quiet hours. gotta wait 15 more mins. sigh.

i lost the equivalent of about $27 the other day when i went to therapy. i'm still mad about it.

i have decided my current problem is allergies and if i'm not careful that will get me sick again so.. yes i'm doing ok kinda sorta but i'm eating antihistamines. that reminds me i have to go to the pharmacy. i wonder if they're open yet. yeah things close for lunch here... from like, 12.30 to sometimes as late as 4pm go figure. then they close up for good at 7/7.30pm.

now i am uptight about the machine running at a too high temp despite the setting.... or screwing up somehow. grrr. when i lived on my own i had a machine which had programs which made much more sense. this one drives me batty. like a lot of things in this place. including the shower "etiquette" or should i say string-of-things-to-do-afterwards which get you sweaty unless you stay nekkid and freeze your cheeks off... or both. makes having a shower very UNrewarding and seem almost futile.

but enough.

i think i'll have more coffee. still not used to the antihistamine, let alone being awake during the day!!!

later guys...

Hi, Barbara,
I hope that you are having a good week end.

Hi, Waves,
What kind of a fancy machine do you have that needs to be "programed"? It sounds a little like my too complicated oven (Hubby pretends he can't work it.) My washing machine however gives me about four options -- hot, warm, or cold and then short, long, really long. No buttons, just dials.
I have a fine washables bag with foam -- theoretically the bag stays on the top of the pile of wash, out of the fray. Something like this: http://www.spacesavers.com/lingeriebag.html

I had a difficult night last night -- woke up with something strange -- lots of shivering and shaking and teeth were clattering so much I put my hand in my mouth to keep from loosing teeth.
When the teeth stopped chattering I was able to take temp and found it was 100+ F.
I think it is back to 99 now -- hard to tell because I drank some water not long ago.
The worst of it lasted 1.5 -2 hours but I stayed up to get myself back in good enough shape so that I would not be fearful about sleeping.

Now I am ready to sleep.
See you guys later.

M.

Wow Mari, I hope you're not getting sick, but with a fever like that it definitely sounds like you're sick. I hope you get better soon.

Man that bites waves, I hate losing money, but it happens. It sounds like you've gotten a lot of stuff done though and that's a good thing! You'll get the box done soon, I know you will, so don't sweat it.

Oh boy Donna, I am keeping you in my prayers hun. It's going to be okay, it's just going to be hard for a few days while you recover, but you will recover. I hope it's not your gall bladder. Thanks for telling us so we could keep you in pur prayers. Take care.

We had a great day yesterday, and tonight is the opening call for entries in the Amazon contest I am entering my novel in. Jackie's been good and things couldn't be better. We didn't get to see my mom yesterday though for our saturday outting because she was sick, hopefully she'll be better this coming weekend. The behavior assistant went with us yesterday and Jackie was such a good little helper.

I have to stay up and enter the contest tonight, so wish me luck all! I am so happy waves has been helping me with my writing, she's simply awesome at grammar and everything she's suggested has been a vast improvement over the state the book and my other neccessary short bio pieces were all in prior to her editing. I am really excited about it!

Thanks Mari! I'll let you know how it goes in a month and two weeks when they've made the first round of cuts. Waiting is going to be heck though....LOL!! I am sick of waiting already, to enter! I want to get it done and be done with it now! All this hard work just has to pay off in getting into the top 100.

Default Dear Pam,

Dear Pam,

Waiting is hard, but you know that you have some good stuff so you can feel good about it.

Last night I felt cold and hot. I went to bed with a sweater on and then sweated through it. I woke up and changed clothes and went back to bed and did the change thing again a few hours later.

I felt a bit better this morning when I woke up at 11:00 am (still very weak and headachy) . I'm going to try to go into work but I am bringing some aspirin and giving myself permission to come home if I need to.
