Its a plan:D
I may have to go back o the OS and ask her what this bony thing is as thats where its most sore. Looks like a sliver of bone ??? I will keep the rinses up Keep in touch Thanks |
You could have a sliver of bone from the extraction. Sometimes they work themselves out and other times they are removed. It is similar to a splinter and usually is not a big deal to remove. If the area continues to be sore and/or you develop a slight swelling there, then it would be wise to have it evaluated for removal.
Don't sweat this out. It's a common occurance and the OS deals with these all of the time. Bryanna Quote:

Toasted bread can be hard to chew especially on a sore tooth. Was it the biting surface of the tooth that hurt or the bone splinter part....???

Yup the biting surface, the gum at the socket IS still sore when my tounge goes over it behind the tooth.
I still feel some pain when the bottom of the tooth brush hits it when doing the upper tooth ?? It does seem slightly better than a few weeks ago:cool: |
Hi cvcman,
I could understand the surgical area still being sensitive to touch from the surgery. I can also understand the gumline of the tooth being sensitive to cold and/or toothbrushing.... and the tooth being sensitive to something hard hitting against it like your toothbrush. But it should not be painful.... sensitive or uncomfortable or tender yes, but not painful. How long does the pain last? Can you press down with your finger directly ontop of the gum where the tooth was removed? Does it hurt to do that? Can you take two fingers and press them against that tooth as if you were going to wiggle it...... does that hurt? Do you have any visible signs of a canker sore anyplace in that area? It would be a slightly raised red or red and white area? Bryanna Quote:

humm ok there is a spot on the tounge side of the socket about 1/4" away from the tooth that is sore it looks like a small white spot but its not a canker. It looks like the gum skin is so thin the bone is showing thru and is red around it ??
If I press the socket with my finger it is slightly sore not bad at all, if i get my finger over where the small spot is it even more sore. Its like a sore bruse spot on your arm or whatever. When the tooth brush hits the point of the rear cusp on the tooth it feels a pain but goes right away doesnt linger. If i try to wiggle the tooth pretty hard it is slightly sore. No where is sensitive to either hot or cold. I tried the pic but you cant really see anything. |
The sore white spot could be a bony splinter and it could be irritated that's why it's red. OR the gum tissue could just be very thin in that area meaning not much gum is covering that part of the bone and it gets irritated very easily.
The cusp of the tooth that feels "pain" when it's hit with something hard could a normal response or any number of things. It could be a slight fracture or crack... it could be just overly sensitive since there is no tooth behind it to take some of the brunt of chewing (etc) so the periodontal ligament that holds the tooth in the jawbone could be irritated and that would feel "bruised". If I were to hit a tooth with the hard part of my toothbrush, it would hurt for a few seconds because our teeth are filled with nerves and they react to any type of trauma. If I kept hitting it, the nerve would eventually die. It's good that the socket feels ok when you press on it. Too bad you couldn't get a picture of that area. Bryanna Quote:
