If I hit any of the other teeth they dont hurt at all ??
Think I should quit with the salt water rinses ?? If you look at the "spot" in the morning it sorta looks like a small indent in the gum tissue and its red. Not quite as big around as a pencil. So Doc whats the verdict ?? |
I hope you are not hitting other teeth just to see if they hurt.....??!!
I have very strong healthy teeth but if I hit one by accident with the hard surface of my toothbrush it hurts for a few seconds. My reasons for pointing that out to you before was to say...... does your tooth hurt moreso when you hit it as compared to any other tooth? If it does, then it is super sensitive for some reason and the reason could be one of many. It will not hurt to rinse with warm salt water a couple of times a day. Is it beneficial at this point...... that depends on what the problem is and we don't know that for sure. If you want to stop rinsing, then stop. The "sore" spot that you describe sounds like an irritation on the gum. It could be a bone spur which makes the gum tissue red and sore. Or it could be a recurring canker sore that has never completely gone away because it may constantly be getting irritated. Or it could be something under the gum tissue other than a bone spur that is irritating the gum. But usually it is a bone spur. An xray would tell if it were a bone spur. Without seeing it, I cannot tell you what it is. I threw my hudini hat away a long time ago :-)) I want to help you...... I really do.....!!!! Bryanna Quote:

Yank em all out !!!:D
I will keep up with the rinses. No I dont hit the others but to be honest I did "test" the others and this one is the only one that seem to hurt. Im not pounding it just when the hard palstic hits it. The others all test fine:D I wont keep doing it dont worry:hug: I know you want to help and I do appreciate it. Again if I run the tip of my tonge over that sore spot it is sore, not killer but sore. Sorta feels like the socket felt the day after getting it pulled when my tounge hit it. Not sure what to do, my GD seemed to think it would improve with time. I just dont want to wait too long then be told "opps you waited now it cracked into the root, see ya tooth" :grouphug: |
I understand that you are concerned that a problem may be brewing and you'd like to fix it (whatever it is) before it gets worse. I agree that early intervention is usually the best option. But since your dentist cannot see anything wrong there, you only have two choices. One would be to seek another opinion from yet another dentist or two wait a few more weeks, continue to baby it and if it does not feel all better by then, have it evaluated again.
I cannot tell you what I would do because I am not certain of what the problem is because I can't see it. I do know from your descriptions that to not baby it would lead to a problem because whatever it is that is chronically sore does not need anything to aggravate it. Believe me, I do understand.......... ~'.'~ Bryanna Quote:

I will keep an eye on it and keep up with the salt rinses. I do know that a week ago when I would accidently bite my toung between the sore tooth and the upper it would hurt the sore tooth.
Now it doesnt seem to. The sore spot seems slightly better today. I will keep you posted, you know I will:D:hug: |
Ok, great!
If I don't chat with you before the holiday...... have a happy!! Bryanna Quote:

Bryanna, hope you had a good holiday. My tooth feels basically the same, I try to stay away but once in awhile a small pc of something kinda hard gets on it w/o me knowing and I bite down and there is pain.
Its weird because sometimes if something just barely rubs across the top of the crown it feels sensitive. The spot behind the tooth where the extraction site is seems like a small indent now. The edges of the indent are sore to touch but not inflamed or red or whatever. Sometimes if you are eating like dry cereal and a small pc gets on the crown it wil hurt but then after awhile if a pc gets on there it doesnt hurt. I wonder if I should go back first to the OS who pulled the tooth and let her look at the indent spot that is sore. Then go back to my GD again. I just dont know where to turn. I dont want to go back to the GD and just have him do another xray and say " I dont see anything" and another 100.00 and im still the same. Sometimes if by accident my tounge gets between the sore tooth and the molar above when chewing it will hurt also. Before it seemed more like the inside edge of the tooth hurting now it seems like the outside... I sure wish it would get better, should i stop witht he salt water ?? I dont do it everyday anyway:cool: |
Hi cvcman,
Happy Holidays! The small indentation at the extraction site is normal. This indicates that the tissue has closed over and the open space of bone where the tooth was removed is filling in. This area will be lower than where your existing teeth are because you lose about 50% of bone level anytime a tooth is removed if bone grafting material is not put in the hole where the tooth was. The tooth sensitivity can be a number of things. Without seeing the tooth or an xray I cannot begin to tell you what is wrong. Perhaps a trip back to the OS to evaluate the area again is warranted. It might be helpful if you could post an xray on here......... but if not, then I really don't know what else to tell you. If you think the salt water is not helping, then stop it. Just be sure to keep the area very clean and free of plaque buildup. Are you brushing and flossing well in that area? Bryanna Quote:

I am brushing and flossing yes. The indent is on the side of the gum not on the top where the tooth came out.
Its weird because sometimes if something just rubs across the top of the tooth it hurts. I cant help wondering if the tooth is cracked, I sure hope not but isnt 3 months too long for it to heal on its own ?? Happy New Year |
