Geeze. I can't run only walk short distances, I can only stand for certain periods, I am 60 pounds overweight (I do work out. Meds have a lot to do with it.) I lost my job and my former employer was making all sorts of allegations about me. Due to the rules of evidence they did not have to prove up any of their claims, I'm sure I have stressed my family out to the max, including my wife, who has been an angel but has me on disability and her loaded down at work.
I have become nothing more than a galley slave at home. We haven't been intimate in 6 years, part of it is her change in life and afraid my head will blow up. We have an appointment at our tax guy today and I hope we don't have to pay too much because I don't know if we have it. Disability pays nowhere near what I used to make as the General Counsel of a corporation and we have run through our savings pretty fast. Just because you can't work doesn't mean the bills stop. People say to get out of the house. And do what? "Go to a park, a shopping center, a library." I don't want to. I do volunteer in a stroke program and do some other stuff. But it is a bunch of activity and then nothing. The house sure gets lonely. Go volunteer somewhere. Where? I have no interest in some of the opportunities, don't people understand that? I am so jealous of my wife and kids going to a job. Why try?

Wisest Elder Ever

Hi there. I understand your frustration. Are you taking an anti-depressant? If not, you might want to ask your doctor which one you can safely take along with your other meds.
I have MS and cannot drive anymore. My vision has deteriorated so much I just don't feel comfortable or safe driving. So, that limits my out-of-the-house activities. Sometimes I get that jealous feeling towards people who have a job that's counting on them to be there. It's good to feel like you're needed in life. It's been four years since I've worked outside the home. It's hard to find things to fill all the hours of the day. Especially things that stimulate your mind. I read alot. I've had to switch to large print books but they make it easy to read again (with reading glasses ![]() I wish I could volunteer somewhere. I love being around people and helping. Nothing helps you feel better more than helping someone else to feel better. I know what it's like to have to live on a budget. Disability doesn't come close to what I was used to making. I'd been at my job for close to 16 years. Sorry I don't have any quick fixes for you.....just wanted you to know that I understand the way you're feeling.

I can also sympathize. I'm sure there are alot of "us" out here.
![]() ![]() I don't volunteer cause being upright very long is very painful. I spend quite alot of time lying down. ![]() ![]() I wish I could offer some suggestions, but I just wanted you to know you're not alone. We ought to start an online club! LOL Please take care of yourself, and God bless. Hugs, Lee ![]()

Hey guys/gals, I am a former firefighter/paramedic. I was diagnosed with parkinson's disease and now I have to use a walker or a wheelchair to get around. My wife of 26 yrs left me last July, the house is probably going to be in foreclosure, my mom just had brain surgery in February and is now living with me. I don't drive due to the parkinson's I lost my license. BUT NO it's not ok to give up.
The best days are ahead. You have to believe that. Leesa your granddaughter needs you, SD I am sure your kids would be devastated should you leave them. As far as your marital relationship find a quiet time where the two of you can talk, preferrably not in the bedroom. Perhaps propose counseling including a medical exam to make sure you're up to it. As you know women are emotional and getting her in the mood means taking care of what is on her mind. Not sure I have said anything that means something but believe me I am there myself, just a little bit higher on the ladder today-in the depths nonetheless. I also read the Bible- alot you'd be surprised how much it helps. Along with prayer. |

Today is my 20th wedding anniversary. My wife deserves sainthood for sticking with me for the last six years. The last 20 for sure but the last 6 for sure.
Oh, and last weekend in Cincinnati; 2 weapons fenced, 2 medals. National Championships next month.

I envy people who work too fence. My housemate goes each day. She goes to this job I use to do with her. People complain at their jobs, and I would give anything to have my career back. I do know how you feel. I miss my paycheck and the feeling of a job well done, and hard days work is rewarding. I do know my friend, the loss you feel. I use to do all kinds of volunteer work, animal rescue. I now do chores at home, and go to NT to give some help and recieve comfort. I read....lets talk OK? ginnie
