I become so anxious and depressed at the thought of having to come out of my room. I can't get anything accomplished. My life has appealed out of control for the least 3 years and I can't get it back and it is getting worse. I can go days without leaving my room even though I want to. Then I just get more upset that I couldn't do it and wasted a whole day again.
I need help. I see a psychiatrist every 3 months but that doesn't help. I need someone to come help get me out and keep me Moving forward. I do better when I finally get out but it is easy to get upset and want to go home. If anyone knows of any groups or anything that might help me, please let me know |

Welcome!
![]() I'm so sorry you are under that depression cloud. I certainly know what it's like. Does your psychiatrist have you on a medication regime? One that works? Sometimes it takes several visits to get meds changed and adjusted to suit your needs. I too see a psychiatrist and they don't really spend the time 'talking and listening' as a psychologist would. It's important to be able to talk to someone who is specialized in these things and it's also important to have fellowship with others who can help lift your spirits and get you interested in life again. When I am under that heavy dark cloud (as I call it ![]() The worst thing to do is become more and more isolated. I've made that mistake and it's not good. It's good that you came here reaching out. We have a 'sister site' called Psych Central, which is much more active in the area of Depression. You might want to check it out. I wish you the best and please just know that you are not alone in this. The members here are very caring and understanding. I'm glad you found us. Caring, Rae ![]() |

Thanks so much for a response. Still having a hard time understanding how to use this site. I am not good with computers and use my Android because it seams easier. Someone asked if they have checked my thyroid. My PCP has checked it a few times and always says that it is ok. But many of my labs are low. My vit D3, ferritin, magnesium, and my iron is normal. I wanted her to check my hormones since I am in my 40s and had a partial hysterectomy at 25. She said she would after we got the problem with my ferritin and vit D taken care of, she didn't want to make to many changes at one time. I had an iron Dextran infusion that helped the ferritin but my vit D actually went down. I have not been back to see her this year. I don't have insurance so its expensive to all Dr. I have been trying to at least see my Psych. He has been trying to find the right meds, so far no success. I have had a lot of traumatic events happen over the last 3 years and just keep spiraling down. I have not seen a counselor due to the expense although I would like to see someone.
Thanks for any support. |

I'm sorry to hear you've been through some serious trauma.
I lost my brother 10 years ago (car accident) and I STILL feel like a part of me has died.....We used to play music together and laugh like crazy. Sometimes I just feel as tho I am 'fading away', useless, etc. This forum has become a wonderful thing to me. It's a 'safe haven' and I feel comfortable here. I hope that's what NT will become for you as well. You'll become more and more familiar with moving about the forums. If you click on the big 'NeuroTalk' logo at the top of the page, it will bring up the main menu. Feel free to look thru all the different topics and post anywhere. Just holler if you have any questions. People are very helpful here. I'm glad you've had some good labwork done. I surely understand the cost issue. Is there a place where you live that you can get counseling using a sliding fee scale. Some places offer this and they bill you according to your income level. The mental health facility where I live does this, plus they make the meds very affordable. Caring, Rae ![]() |

I get depressed too. Today I made myself go out and went to the planetarium in my community. If I don't do things activly, I wind up swamped with depression. I don't have some of the issues you have, but I know what it is like to stay in my room too. If you can possibly pick an activity that you like, even if it is the library, get out and do it. The library is quiet, not over populated, and should be calming. Just a suggestion. ginnie
