Thanks Dave for sharing your info with us - it will help others (myself included) to prepare to face the so-called specialists. What you've had to go through isn't fair but as they say 'Life isn't fair'. The stoicism and pragmatism you show along with your sense of humor I hope will keep you strong.

As for the cricket - good to hear you're a staunch England/Wales supporter - I realized you weren't probably able to watch it but wondered if you listened to the radio or online. I was going to try and tempt you to listen to the World Cup match yesterday (SA v NZ) as a distraction from your bad day - but of course in my somewhat reduced compis mentis state I forgot the time zone difference and that you'd be trying to get much needed sleep. Sorry we've become a little obsessed with it down here at present - it's not that often that NZ does well - and I keep in mind that although this wasn't England's year - without England there would be no cricket. Like you although I'm no longer able to participate in sport I still enjoy following many sports.

Bluesfan,
Yeah, the All Blacks ARE terrible! Seriously, congrats for the result, I'll be watching out for the Final.
We invent all the sports - then get bad at them

Well done NZ!

Let's see what happens next.

I thought it rather hilarious and also interesting turn of events that the Australian public voted for Freddie Flintoff to win the Aussie version of 'I'm a Celebrity, Get me out of here'. Just goes to show.

- cricket fan.

Dave,

I am at this late, having been out of town a few days and watching the posts less. I am so glad to see you already feel "turned around". I too am terribly sorry for the frustrating waste of time and heartache over your doctors appointments. I think we all go through some version of this kind of thing on a regular basis. I just found out my neuro won't even consider low dose naltrexone for CRPS because it is a "controlled substance". So funny! So you know what, I'm just gonna go see someone else. It is tedious but ultimately the decision to keep going is what keeps us going! Hang in there and keep your wonderful sunny disposition. It is an inspiration to the rest of us.

sending extra amounts of Healing Love,
Littlepaw

I have no strength upper body or arms.
The left side of my head/face is painfully numb.
I have double vision.

What was really "new" information?
My double vision is far worse than first measured.
My brain is splattered with many more "white matter lesions" than '07.
Arachnoid Cyst has doubled in length.

Hour-long appointment Conclusion:
Nothing can be done about double vision - knew that.
Symptomatic Arachnoid Cysts don't exist in this Country.
Neurotoxicity of solvents is not taught in Med School.

What was ignored - typed list, bearing in mind I was in for an HOUR:
Question as to cause of lesions.
Q. What is compressing spinal cord in my neck.
Q. Everything about Arachnoid Cyst being symptomatic, mental and physical.
Q. Referred stabbing pain in upper arms and left leg, below knee.
Q. New needle sharp, bright white pains in feet, legs, some torso and hands.

From now on I will stick with my wonderful GP and PM Team.

Dave.
Sorry to hear the negative. I've only experienced one neurologist and he was equally unhelpful. I admire you for your perseverance.

Lara: Freddie is a great guy - didn't know he won that, wish we got it screened here - although I'm hooked on Beauty and the Geek Australia (for Geek transformations).

Kitt: You are an inspiration to us all, always here.

Littlepaw: Your kind words and 'healing love' touch myself and everyone you interact with.

Olraalil: You see here our Forum Members at their usual best. Benefit as I have from their experiences and kindness.

Dave.

You know me by now, know that I try to stay positive in my Postings and my support. Yesterday was rough, both physically and mentally and this Post reflected that.
Yet, well within 24 hours, your support has turned me around.

Lara: Comforting words as usual.

Bluesfan: A complaint or Tribunal would be inappropriate. The Neuro was thorough enough examining me and going over old stuff, and he showed me my MRI with the Occipital and White Matter Lesions. He just had huge holes in his knowledge which others on the Net have, and which one would expect. He also couldn't/wouldn't answer other questions due to NHS Opinions, I assume.
I could easily be referred to another Neuro by my GP or Eye Consultant, but it would be another 5 hour day of "what's the point?"
As for cricket, I can't watch it but support and follow the results of Lancashire, and support the England and Wales Cricket Team. I support England, and English competitors, in every sport - individual and team.

Merl1n: This was my first Neuro for years - I don't know why I was persuaded to go back.
Damage to my spine from accidents and the damage in my brain on the MRI are clear to see, I'm afraid.
You need to hang in there and keep pursuing the correct dx from the right Drs. Eventually you will find the answers.

Kiwi33: Short, and sweet, thanks as usual.

MrsD: I've noticed the Neuro complaints all over the Forums - from all over the World.
I never met ONE who gave me a med FOR my conditions - always using unpredictable side-effects to treat me. This is even the case with my Topiramate for Cluster Headaches.
I will check out Drs Blaylock and Perlmutter asap.
Your thoughts are insightful as usual.

Diandra: As is usual with the NHS, no excuse was forthcoming. I don't even know if he was in the Clinic.
I read the Columbia site last night, it amazes me the differences of opinion there to here over these Cysts. Don't get me wrong, I'm not obsessed with it - nor do I want anything done, brain surgery, NO THANKS! I simply want it recognised that the Cyst COULD be responsible for some of my neurological and mental issues.
I will read the other sites as my eyes allow, with MrsD's links. Thank you.

You all turned my mood around about this. Before I joined this Forum my Depressive Disorder would have had me down and obsessing for months. I'm still down because of my Disorder, but not over the Neuro as I know so many go through the same thing and you all have switched that obsessive mood off.
Thank you

Dave.
Hey Dave,
The dr's have sent me to a head shrink dr, went to see her this morning. She tells me I don't need another appointment with her as she deals with people who are not really in touch with reality and in her words I'm "in touch with reality, its just my reality sucks". Now that helps. NOT.
Hope you had/have better luck with your medical professionals
Merl1n

Merl1n,
My Counsellor - who I was seeing for serious self-harm issues - told me in May '13 that HE couldn't cope with MY dx of cancer. In Sept '13 my Psychologist triggered a Panic Attack deliberately to prove that I didn't have the control I thought. Now I have none again.
Take your pick as to which are lower on my list, Neuros or Therapists.

Dave.

Thanks for this Lara - Congratulations to the Aussies for winning yesterday's game. It's going to be a late night on Sunday but sure to be a final worth watching. May the best team win. (that'd be the Black Caps of course! lol)

Sorry Dave for jumping into your thread with the trivial subject of cricket again. I am following the postings about so-called professionals behaviour with interest - my run-ins with counsellors has been minimal so far - two different periods, years apart, for different reasons - 1 public health and 1 private. Results 50/50 good/bad. But what the counsellors/psychologist said to you and Merl1n is inexcusable - I get why you're avoiding them. Better off coming here. I'm still waiting for my first appt. with a Neuro - need it to confirm diagnosis - but hopefully won't have the problems you've had. I have to be careful because I have a tendency to get my hopes up that a long awaited appt. will provide answers. This happened with an ortho surgeon about 18mths ago - I was shattered that he completely dismissed my injury with total disinterest and treated me as if I was a burden on the health system. The lesson I learned that day was 'lower your expectations' (He was a Scot by the way - not that that's an indictment against the Scottish - my Rheumy is also a Scot and is the nicest doctor you could wish for).
So please keep commenting - any tips to deal with medical professionals are welcome.
