Got lazy over the weekend...actually got up at 5am, drove nearly an hour west of Houston planning to ride about 55 miles in the hills. It started raining on us a few miles before we got to where we were planning to park, and we knew more rain was on the way, so we turned around and went home. Glad we did too, because it stormed big time and then got really cold and windy afterwards.

On Sunday, we planned to go out and ride about 60 miles in the hills, but when we woke up, it was 33F with a west wind blowing at 18mph and gusting to 26mph. The route we were planning to ride was almost entirely North and South, so we wimped out on 60 miles in a wicked crosswind with wind chill temps below freezing.

By Sunday afternoon, I got to feeling guilty about not riding, so we went out to a local park with a long trail and did 23 miles, with the first half dead into a 20-30 mph wind. I still need to start getting alot more mileage in before mid April, so in addition to spin classes, I am going to start bringing my bike to work two nights a week and ride after work for 20 miles or so.

He hasn't yet, but I plan to get him to sign it on the day of the ride unless he shows up at our team dinner a couple days before that. We have a "Because We Can" group of cyclists with MS that meets once a month, and I plan to get all of them to sign it at the April meeting also. According to the MS Society, there are 95 folks with MS signed up to ride this year!

Yesterday I had 20 minutes of aerobic and ten minutes of arm exercises. Today I went for a 20 minute walk on my break at work.

I've been swimming and finding that my strength is slowly coming back to me.
I moved 60 tyres ready for seedling planting.
Been riding and training horses.
Been falling off horses and busting finger tips.
And I've been back at work!!! Yayyy.

Rode 63 miles in the hills this morning with a 15.5mph average speed. It was a nice sunny day and got up to about 75F by the time we were done. I am very tired and sore now, but felt good most of the day while riding. The last 30 miles were into the wind, which was really tough, but I was the 3rd person on our team to finish, ahead of most of the folks who don't have MS.

I'm curious about all this great exercise everyone's doing. Do you experience any tingling/numbness or any other sensations but you just keep on going? I work at an extremely large manufacturing plant and can walk up to 1.25 miles just to attend a meeting! I usually get some tingling in the front of my thighs after a while and my doc says it's fine as long as it goes away after some period of rest. All this exercise is awesome!
