my nerves are FRIED! im sorry, but I dont like little kids that are UNattended. its the parents job to come be with their child and keep them out of my garden, or keep them from eating all the berries in the yard. We have poison berries as well as black/blue berries out here. Im so happy that your kid got a basketball hoop, but its like driving nails right thru my temperal lobe. The MD said its because of the position of my brain tumor that I am ultra sensitive to noise. I am really not a bad person to want to enjoy MY home, in QUIET! I moved to the backwoods, on a dead end street full of grown ups for a reason. Had I seen ONE, just ONE basketball hoop when we were looking, I would have turned the car around. Its a noise that I simply cannot take.

God Bless those of you that can look outside at the squealing kids that are running wild and say "aaww, how cute!" cause I CANT! I want to drag them home by the ear and ring their door bell and scream at their parents. WHY in this day and age would you stick your 5 y/o child outside without someone to watch him?! we live next to a lake! your children CANT swim! yet they all love the water. I dont want to move to a new room in my home, I like MY room, with MY books, and MY stuff. I dont think I should be displaced by someone elses child from ANY room in MY home!

Sigh...as I said before im really not a bad person, its just that its plucking my last nerve, constantly. I swear I dont understand why I have to be the one that teaches your child not to eat the red berry, and to stay away from that thing with 3 leaves, and stop touching the garden fence, and where are you going with the rocks from my rock wall? NO! you cannot huck those rocks at your brother! I would just never expect to be able to turn my child loose on the rest of you. he is MY job. Same for parents in Walmart. They simply walk in the door, turn loose of the kids and say "i will meet you in electronics in 20 minutes. Well, now I cant see what video games are for sale because your child is hogging the machine, the isle, the view and the whole department!

im really trying to not rant, but i am about fed up with folks that think its ok to let their children run free. One mother told her son "THIS time DONT run into the road, you stand here till I tell you its ok. I DONT want to see you run in the road again, hear me???!!" I was so awful, I shot back "if you dont want him in the road, then HOLD HIS HAND!" and left spouting expletives about what lazy mothers there are today.

Yes, Erin, neurological diseases themselves, even before meds,
fry the nerves. It's a tragedy.

sorry! Mine are fried today too. Very bad day.

Dejibo, you have every right to feel "fried". And to dislike parents
who do not make their kids behave. TV has made us believe that
kids will come out all right without too much parenting. No, need
lots! My son, not a perfect person, nevertheless is a great father and
so is his wife. Their kids NEVER behave like that outside the house.
Inside the house, yes, but never outside the house. Actually I guess
that is the parenting style in his neighborhood--all kids are within
homes or if outside homes, doing something quiet and constructive.
It's amazing.

Sorry you got the wrong neighborhood!

Dej, I think you're going to have to build on a 50 acre lot to be truly by yourself.

Right now the house beside me and the house behind me are empty and up for sale. The one behind me is the one where the little old man who blew his yard clippings from his yard onto mine with his leaf blower lived! I'm kind of nervous about who will move in. I'm hoping for nice neighbors that I can get to know and be friends with. The one next to me is a 4 bedroom so I'm assuming it will be someone with kids. The backyard is small, though, so maybe we'll get lucky.

I'm really sorry you're having such a rough time with all of this. It's a shame when you can't even enjoy your own home. All I can suggest is to post signs that clearly show where your property line is and call the law on anybody who ignores them.

Dej, rant away, it'll make you feel better...hopefully!

I personally think that you should let them learn from experience about the berry bushes in your yard...That's how I learned, and I lived. (we had bushes with red berries on them...I thought that since I could eat the grapes and cherries in our backyard, that I could eat the red berries in the front yard. Learned the hard way those red berries are not edible)

I hate those little kids in WalMart. (well, at any store) I'm trying to walk down an aisle, and all of a sudden I've got someone's brat pushing past me on the side that I use the cane. Or they'll push past me when I'm pushing a cart past something, and they always seem to want to push past on the side that's closest to a big display of something. (which means I get pushed over)

What I really hate is when I go to a really really nice restaurant...The kind where they have white cloth napkins and the waiter is telling you about the wine choices, and all of a sudden you have someone's dirty little 4yr old climbing up on the empty chair at your table, or worse...screaming in your ear because the restaurant doesnt serve cheese pizzas or have paper placements and crayons.

I'm going to a really nice restaurant tomorrow with my boyfriend for my birthday, and I'm really hoping there arent any little screamers sitting nearby. If they have the money to go to that restaurant, they have the money to pay a babysitter to watch their kids. It's not a kid-friendly restaurant. (I've seen kids there before, and they made conversation impossible with the decibel level of screaming noise)

It's people and kids like that, that have made me decide I never want to have my own kids. I used to want children, but the MS and just watching how kids dont listen (because you cant discipline them for fear it'll ruin their "self esteem") pretty much ruined me for kids.

Right now, I want to find the "big kids" down the street that are blowing up either really big fireworks or whole sticks of dynamite right now. I used to love fireworks (at least at night) but the loud noise that fireworks make...I totally understand why my dog hated loud noises now and why we had to drug him on traditional firework holidays. (4th of July, new years...football national championship days)

called the cops. found 2 little ones about 5 y/o each eating those berries again. I told them to stop. Its pouring rain, and both are in sandles, shorts, and tank tops out riding their bikes since 7am. This means they missed lunch, and probably breakfast if they are taking to the bushes to find lunch. Not once have I seen a parent step out to check on them. The thing about it is, THIS street is quiet, full of money, and NO kids! its the street that runs parralel behind us that rents out their houses for the summer that brings in the unwashed masses.

So, the cops put the kids in his cruiser, the bikes are in his trunk and he headed down towards the rental homes. makes me mad that you can come from out of town and turn your kids loose on ME! its not my turn to make sure they dont get poisoned or fall in the lake!

I am not playing nice anymore. I also had the highway dept come get this skateboard/bike ramp that sprouted in the middle of the street.

Since its pouring rain and the temp dropped by about 10 degrees you would think many would just go home!

ok get this. About an hour after the cops left. momma had the nerve to come pound (not knock) pound on my door. indignant that I called the cops on precious little children, rather than taking the time to go out, introduce myself and lead them home! She flew off the handle about how "money doesnt buy manners does it?!" all you rich people...what kind of monster calls the cops on little children?!

I let her go on with her drunken tirade. (peeyew her breath stunk!) and I had to ask 4 times "are you done yet?" before she seemed to be drawing enough breath between sentences that I could cut her off.

#1 I dont have money THEY (pointing up to the lake front homes) DO and trust me not ONE of them would bother spitting on your child if he was on fire! let alone save him from poison berries.

#2 You DONT get to schedule YOUR vacation to the lake in MY back yard and expect that I have nothing better to do than to run out and protect your precious babies. that is YOUR job!

#3 Had you given a crap about anyone else but yourself, you would see that its a DIRECT slide to the lake from here. Maybe on your $800 a week (speaking of having money) rental home they have a gate blocking the path leading to the water, but up here, we have NO such items, so we expect YOU to come watch YOUR OWN KIDS!

And last but not least, if YOU dont get your DRUNKEN bottom off that lounge chair and come BE WITH your children I can and will call the cops, social services, and the dog catcher if need be to GET THEM OFF MY PROPERTY! I am NOT your summer babysitter and I REFUSE to let you turn me into one by default of you not watching your own. Now I expect you to gather YOUR children, take them to YOUR home, bathe them, feed them, put proper clothes on them, and read them a bed time story. Either be with them or risk losing them. Whether its to the lake, the bears or the law, its YOUR choice!

She told me what a horrible person I am. I responded with an "i know." and she started to leave. I got one last shot in by saying "im serious about those Bears! we have a momma and 2 babies that have been wandering the back area and they are HUNGRY! the berries your children seem to like so much are exactly what those bears are looking for. Its NOT MY JOB to teach your children a thing other than to scream RUN when I see momma headed at them. Speaking of momma's if YOU were half the momma you think you are, you would not turn your children loose in strange neighborhoods with no one to protect them.

And she stomped off. I slept till 7 this morn. I didnt hear her kids. (perhaps she sent them in the other direction) I hear 3 sets of adult walkers go by, but no one made my yard their hang out.

Ah, life on the lake, aint it fun?

At least your vacationers will eventually leave.

My aunt lives across the street from me. The back of her house faces the pond (really, it's a water runoff pond, but the association has prettied it up so it looks nice)

She had her backyard landscaped so she could get some privacy from her neighbors. Didnt work. Their little grand-brats run thru her landscaping and trample all the flowers, knock her yard creatures over and break them...or throw them into the pond.

On Easter about...4 years ago...maybe five? She put Easter baskets on her patio table for my cousins and their kids. About 10 minutes after she put the baskets on the patio table, she looked out the door and the little kids from next door had stolen them! The neighbors didnt correct their kids, they let them keep them. (those baskets had money, gift cards, and at least $50 in chocolate in each one...my aunt goes all out on her kids and grandkids)

Aunt had a butterfly chair installed in her yard near the pond. Everyone in the neighborhood apparently assumes that her yard it part of the commons, and they go out and sit on her chair, which she wouldnt mind if that's all they were doing, but the neighborhood brats, not just the next door neighbor's grandkids, have been trying to break the chair.

I was over there once with my dad, we'd seen some of the terrorists from down the street walk into her yard, she wasnt home, so dad and I walked over there. Right as we walked into the back, we saw one of those kids picking up one of my aunt's landscaping rocks, and toss it into the pond. These are not small rocks. They're supposed to hold the bank up. Another kid was holding a rock over his head and was about to toss it.

My dad used his "DAD" voice and said "STOP THAT RIGHT NOW!". (I think I covered my butt and ducked just in case he was yelling at me) The kid dropped the rock and immediately apologized. Then they took off.

Right now the next door neighbor, my aunt, and another neighbor are all having a little feud. Neighbor keeps having his son park his 18wheeler on the street, or he'll show up without the trailer and he parks the cab on the driveway. So there's this big hideous truck parked next door to my aunt. The truck is starting to crack the neighbor's driveway. (builders used crappy concrete, and there might be an underground spring under some of the houses. Undermining the driveways) My aunt and the other neighbor just really hate that truck. (smells, and the son of the neighbor likes to go outside and fire it up at 2am and let it run for awhile. It's loud and the smell of the exhaust is nasty)

Oh, and these neighbors of my aunt. They're the ones who murdered my dog TinyMonsters. They poisoned him. They poisoned his best dog friend too. (aunt's old pug, Pudge) My aunt didnt realize Pudge had been getting poisoned on a regular basis until her current pug, Stella got sick last fall after grabbing a hot dog that was mysteriously placed on the end of the patio. (dog was too quick for my aunt) Aunt had discovered suspicious hot dogs on the patio before when Pudge was still alive. Stella had the exact same symptoms as Pudge and Tiny did. Except that Tiny died pretty much immediately (within a few days of being poisoned) and Pudge had months and months of getting sicker and my aunt and the vet couldnt figure out what was wrong. (neurological symptoms) My aunt put Pudge to sleep because she couldnt figure out what was wrong, and Pudge was so sick the vet recommended it.

When Stella got sick it was exactly the same. Except this time, we were suspicious about how Tiny and Pudge had died, so my aunt kept her inside and walked her over to my yard to use the bathroom just in case the neighbors were putting something on the grass in her yard. Still have no idea what they poisoned the dogs with. Keep hoping that they'll accidentally kill themselves making their poison treats

I hate these neighbors more than I hate the terrorist kids from down the street. These neighbors are adults, but they're such horrible toxic people.

I like my neighborhood, I just hate those particular neighbors. Keep wishing they'd move. Hopefully someday.
