Lately my thigh muscles hurt before they go numb. Most of the time my legs stay numb now, When I wake up my legs are usually fine, not well coordinated but not numb. By mid-morning my muscles hurt and by mid-day my legs are going numb, by bed time I'm numb from my lower ribs and down. I hate this mad cycle. This happens almost everyday now.
My neuro already said he isn't going to do anything as long as I can still walk.

That's interesting. I have pain in my hips and thighs all the time, but I havent noticed if there's a connection to it happening before I get the numb sensations. I'll have to haul out my symptom diary and see if I noted anything the last time I actually kept up with the diary.

This has only been going on for about 5-6 weeks, before Dec 27th I haven't had but a few odd things (numbness related) over the past 4 years, never a every day issues like I'm having now so I haven't started a SX diary yet.

I agree that's crazy, Yes I have thought about a new neuro, I just haven't made it in to see him yet, I had an appt. set up for my 2nd opinion but I had 2 kids get sick and I had to cancel. I'm trying to get in the see my new PCP 1st and see what she has to say about all this and than get the 2nd opinion from the new neuro.

Julie,
Sending even MORE hugs to you! Sounds like your neuro frankly sucks and I hope that you can get into the new neuro for a second opinion soon. I also have to chime in about keeping a symptom diary. I find it much easier to have a list of concerns and symptoms with me so I don't forget to mention them. I also have DH come with me to any *major* appointments, one of which is the neuro. A lot of times he can help clarify things if I'm having trouble putting my thoughts into words and it also helps my neuro in some cases to get DH's viewpoint. Hope your children are feeling better soon! |

Actually, this is EXACTLY how several of my flares started.
I even ended up at the neuro's office (actually, it was the neuro on call because mine was on vacation) because I had a wierd numb/Pain in my arms. My reflexes seemed a little slow, but nothing too bad. Finally, the neuro said that if it was a flare, it wasn't bad enough to treat, and sent me home. About two weeks later, the numb/pain turned into COMPLETELY NUMB. Then the numbness travelled down to my legs. I went back to the neuro when the numbness started affecting my walking. The neuro asked me to walk down the hallway towards him, so he could evaluate my walking. I did O.K. till I got very close to him...then I tripped, and knocked him over and landed on top of him! I've never seen my neuro so enthusiastic about writing a script for IVSM!!
