Niko, it's nice to know you keep your equipment clean

Sally, I didn't pay the price you see listed. I got in on the *floor model sale*

Get movin', Sandy!

Dejibo, you won't be jealous when I start a thread about how I hurt myself on the darn thing

ANM, would you PLEASE be careful....sheesh!

pud's friend, in a past life I had been known to use exercise equipment for hanging clothes

Wiz, although mine is a *space saver* that's not why I chose it. It will go in the basement where there is plenty of room.

I tried a few different ones and I almost didn't want one. Where the feet go is sort of high for me (I'm short ) and picking my feet up enough to get on was scaring the poo out of me. I know, it's not THAT far off the ground but for a muchkin like me it is

The feet area for the space saver Elliptical was closer to the floor...like me! It also has two small handles that make getting on and off easier, the others didn't.

It did take me a few minutes to get the hang of my feet moving and my arms moving all at the same time

Put a TV in front of it and watch your shows, it makes it even more fun.

Snoopy when we bought ours the salesman told me that I could use the elliptical for 15 minutes and it would be same as 30 minutes on the treadmill. Cool. Wonder if it's true. Still having a tough time getting to 15 minutes though!

I want an elliptical, too. The PT told me it would be far safer than a treadmill for me. I trip a lot because of foot drop and between that and the balance issues, he told me to stay off of treadmills.

Snoopy, I'm moving I'm moving! Stop pushing me!

Mine has a way to make the arms stationary until you get used to it. Maybe yours does too?

karousel, that has also been my understanding - less time on the Elliptical than a treadmill with as much or more benefit.

Holly, I used a treadmill for a long time and got hurt once. I felt the Elliptical was safer. A treadmill moves and you walk and you need to stop the treadmill to be able to stop (unless you can hop to the side rails, I can't).

The Elliptical doesn't move until you do and when you stop it does. That gives you more control.

I also have drop foot and for the last few months my left leg keeps wanting to give. I haven't fallen...yet. When I was using the Elliptical my leg gave twice but because the elliptical has arms and I am not picking my feet up it was a non-issue.

Sandy, in the time I was testing out the Elliptical it took a very short time to get used to using the arms. We even used the tension and I was still okay

Nope, Im jealous that so many folks are interested in your toys, not mine.

Actually Im jealous of the toy itself. I have dreamed of one of those, but thus far, my piggy banks say NO! For now, I am a street walker.

That is pretty cool!!! I was looking at a recumbent one, but it would be something we'd have to save up for.

If wondering what one of those do-dads looks like: http://www.abesofmaine.com/item.do?item=ST8310 is an example.

Fin & all, just for fun, I checked my local Craig's list and there are at least a dozen, high-end ellipticals, "hardly used" or "used for a month" listed at less than half their retail prices.

My theory is that I'm not ready to commit the floor space to a machine of that size, so when I'm out anyway, there is almost always at least one to test drive for free.

Also, I finagled my nearby health club into letting me pay by the minute instead of a membership. It works really well, especially in the winter when I'm a hostage.

My main friend is my little cheapie stepper, it picks my feet up for me and I just hop on it for 2-3 minutes several times a day. I commit myself to at least one song, one segment of commercials, one pot to boil, etc. We get along just fine that way.

Of course! I have already bought mine. It never even crossed my mind to go online

I saw a few of those where we went. I didn't try any out but I discount the equipment where I would be sitting. I prefer to use weight bearing equipment for as long as possible since this disease likes to affect my legs.
