I am so angry., I had written about this months ago and got some wonderful suggestions from all of you, so here it goes:
I have two fans and a cool mist humidifier at my desk and the temperature goes up to 81 and there is no circulation, the man that everyone is scared of wears a t-shirt it is a control thing and supervisor does not want to deal with confrontation from him., 4 other people have gone to the supervisor and she said she doesn't want to be in the middle and turn our fans on., we aren't allowed to even open a window as he says the cold air from the window goes down the aisle to his desk., it is crazy., I have tried and tried, I need my job., for two months they were letting it go off when it hit 76., but he complained and we are not allowed to shut it off........I have asthma along with my myasthenia gravis., Please help does anyone know of any articles that I can print out about how this affects me??????? my eyes are droppy , and am so tired and having trouble breathing today., it is like a sauna....I need help., I do belong to a union, would this be a health and safety issue??? I can't do my work in this environment.......please help |

that is insanity, plain ole insanity!
in nyc, if a store owner opens a door of an air conditioned store during hot summer days, they are fined for wasting energy, Im sure something along those lines must be true about someone running a thermostat at 76 degrees during cold months. gotta be an agency that would fine that place for wasting all that energy |

Hey sweetheart!
![]() Let me see if I can get this sorted out in my MG fog ![]() You have a jerk coworker who keeps EVERYONE miserable via burning them up. Your boss is too afraid to day anything. This is making you physically ill. Am I right? If so, there HAS to be some sort of law against this. I'm guessing you are not on disability, but it may be time to look into it. Extreme heat does horrible things to our bodies - as you well know. I can't even set foot outside if it is above 65. I swell to where my feet crack and bleed, so I do not know how you have stood this.... I HAVE heard that it takes @ least 3 attempts GET on disability. It just seems to be the "magic" number....... Obviously I don't have an answer to your question, but can empathize. Hopefully one of our super smart members can answer this one for you! Love, Erin ![]() Quote:

When you are dealing with a major control freak - or bully - all they respect or will listen to are bigger control freaks with more power:
http://www.osha.gov/oshdir/oh.html http://www.odh.ohio.gov/public_healt...ubhealth1.aspx It is essentially against the law to threaten someone's health with a bad work environment. The work environment portion is OSHA's realm. The threat to your health is something your State's Public Health Department. Call both of them and see what they can do. Most agencies have to keep your name confidential, so you don't have any repercussions at work. If you call, do NOT tell ANYONE at work what you have done. Even if they are sympathetic, sometimes people will try to "earn favor" by snitching on you. I'm very sorry you are being put in this situation. Your health is more important than a job but I sure do understand needing to have money! You sound like you could go into a crisis. Maybe you should ask this guy if he wants to go to jail (just kidding). I hope you can find some kind of resolution. Annie |

Yes he is a control freak and we have 2 or 3 younger girls who are always cold so he is protecting them toooooooololololol................There are 5 of us out of 13 that have legitimately complained to no avail. Her answer are supervisor says oh, the others think it is finally warm enough., I want to know what all their thermostats at home are, the one let it slip, that her house is cold., it is just a bunch of peoople acting like a bunch of high school kids and him being the old man he is has always bullied and won........as he saves money for the company...........I also am going to try to get a Drs excuse for my health issues.

HI Whirlwind
I had a similar situation. I assembled a notebook requesting simple accommodation on the job. The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is a free service that provides information on job accommodations and the employment provisions of the American with Disabilities Act. The easy to follow web site, lays out the responsibility of the employer. MG is one of the covered diseases. act.www.jan.wvu.edu/ I read it carefully, I reread it as if I were the employer. I went to the Muscular Dystrophy Association web site www.mda.org/ I called my local/ closest chapter and asked for information . I received a publication “Facts About Myasthenia Gravis (MG)” also lots of other stuff. In my notebook laying out my request I presented only facts - no feelings.
Somehow linking my situation ,with the MDA and the Law of the Land (US Government) helped the employer understand my need. I received my accommodation. Perhaps some variation of this might help . Take care, Christy |

I go to my neurologist in about 3 weeks so I will have him do me a letter, explaining , my biggist problem is the heat., so I have been going thru sites specifically trying to find info on that. I appreciate this from you this is wonderful advice. Thank you again. [*] A letter from Dr. saying I have MG[*] A letter from Physiologist stating MG causes me stress[*] The “ I am officially one of Jerry’s kids" booklet from the MDA[*] The JAN web site info and address[*] A simple short letter requesting accommodation
Somehow linking my situation ,with the MDA and the Law of the Land (US Government) helped the employer understand my need. I received my accommodation. Perhaps some variation of this might help . Take care, Christy
|
