Then let's change the new party. I hope Bob comes in. I only wrote in a blog to him, but invited him. After learning a little about him, I think he would make a perfect spokesperson, not too much he is sick but even online there is so much we could do - like avoid hatred regardless of political party and set that for the goal.

editing to add:who is the most hateful ?[ i know that isn't a nice word but you will see my quandry about labeling it.

or the Tea Party ?

Default Thanks for your comments.

Pkell and Virginia, I appreciate your coments very much. And Steve, not only do I apreciatde what you wrote, but I can empathize with your situation and frame of mind right now. You sound very depressed and rightly so, but there is help in finding the right mixture of psychotherapy and medication (been thefre - done that). I am also glad you realize the love of you by your family and friends (don't forget your worth to us formicians, too)

The degrading mockery of the PWP makes my blood boil, too. It was clearly stupidity on the part of the two guys taking him to be begging... I would love to see what those two guys would say if interviewed after having their dispicable behavior plastered on videos around the world. Their actilon IMHO does nothing to solve a difference of opinion.

Enough of that. I Just wanted you to know you are loved and respected here. And note the time o f gthis post - can't sleep (yawn)

Default make budget cuts elsewhere

At this point, whatever health care reform bill is eventually approved, it will make no one happy on either side of the aisle... too much taken out for some and too little taken out for others.

The national debt is so great at this point, it is impossible to fathom it ever being paid back with or without health care reform. We will continue printing money on Chinese made presses and backed by nothing. Instead of debating how much health care reform will cost, who will benefit and who won't... why don't we look at reducing the trillions of dollars we gift to prop up undemocratic governments which ultimately buy weapons to use against our own troops.

If we want to ensure a better world for our children, education and health care must be strengthened and not cut. Surely there is more than enough waste in other areas to pay for this. Does anyone doubt for a moment the quality health care system we would have if Congress had to live with the same plan we do?

I know you understand Peg..I know you all understand..,Ive read about your..(everyone's).. frustrations long before I was to experience it myself, and all of a sudden I went from functioning reasonably, to not functioning very much at all..Ive been seriously considering DBS, but after what Ive been through lately, Im afraid of it too..What if I go through all that, and I end up being one of those people that it doesnt work for?

My neuro examines me, and the resuts are that it is still pre-dominant on one side, but my strong side isnt strong enough to compensate for my weak side..Its like a three legged stool

Ive been through alot of things in my life that didnt scare me..Ive been through storms a sea, and Ive seen gigantic waves..Ive been through a sinkng and rescued by a passing sailboat, and while I was drifting with tide I had faith I would survive it..But pd scares me..It does now anyway

Default for steve

Dear Steve, I always thought you should be our spokesperson-I find you honest, brave, compassionate, thoughtful. Please reach out to Charlie who has excperience with DBS.
Please save your energies for your self. political discussions never change anyone's poilitics. and I still adore Paula and so respect Peg and both womens's intellects and passions and bravery.
and have learned a bit more about others I would never have known: AJ, sheryl, carey, theresa, virginia, pkell, laura, bluedahlia. (girija I feel I know well already)
We are all incensed by the treatment of the gentleman with PD who was so humiliated.
As Peg offerred, let's focus on curing Parkinson's.

and you, Steve, focus on finding the treatment which will alleviate your symptoms. I continue to think you should be our spokesperson. and strongly encourage you to reach out to Charlie and anyone else who could offer encouragement. madelyn

Default Don't Give Up, Steve

Steve...I realize...as with anything...it is easy for one like me (who does NOT have P) to utter the phrase: "Don't give up". When I first joined this forum, you were one of the people here...if not THE one who kept me coming to the forum. As I've stated...I do NOT have PD....I am the carepartner to one who is afflicted with this disease. I still come here for direction...a place where there are so many intelligent, knowledgeable people...not only from the standpoint of PD...but, generally, intelligent and knowledgeable people. I want to point out to you, Steve, the messages that you've posted JUST for this thread...how important your thoughts are...how well you articulate those thoughts. I admire your self-sacrificing attitude toward those who love you...that you honor their feelings above your own. I would just want to say to you...your "family", here, would ask that you honor us as well. It just seems, Steve...from what you've said...that your medication regimen is not refined enought for you at this particular stage of the disease...that there must be something that can be done to rectify this. My "gut" tells me that some tweaking of the medications needs some serious thought by your neurologist. I can say this because my pwp's neurologist has done exactly that. It's a process but one which has been well worthwhile in managing Doreen's PD who, by the way, has been diagnosed with PD for 11 years...and, in retrospect, it was probably present a few years before the diagnosis. Thankfully, she has fared well with the process of monitoring her medication regimen...but, it has not been an easy process...and so, I end with the title of this post: "Don't Give Up, Steve".

I definately plan on talking to Charlie about DBS..I am intellectually ready for it, but not emotionally

I actually would not make a good spokesman, because I do not fare well in the limelight, but I do appreciate your compliments

The people here who are involved in advocacy are the true warriors for the pd community cause

Default Just to clarify

Just wanted to add rather late in the thread...

For the record, I did not intend on equating anyone involved in this incident or anyone elsewhere a Nazi. I started looking at this strictly from a Eugenics and disability standpoint, but it jumps out front and center once you get started. I avoid CNN or any media news because I can't take the sensationalism that passes as news anymore. I had no idea that the term "Nazi" had created such a brouhaha; I just caught wind of the controversial NPR piece on Tea Bag Speak...seems the label of Nazi is a sore point right now. I've always had an uncanny sense of timing I've discovered my ability to stick my foot in my mouth now knows no bounds! Like I said I didn't I didn't mean to offend, but there really are some ideological commonalities that are troubling, especially when we consider that people tend to not always know what they mean to say in the first place...me included.

I am not accustomed to seeing people quite this angry over politics; usually we are a little more tolerant. These days, with all the hateful words flying around and nasty interactions between people, I am actually less fearful of how the government may screw up, and more afraid of the intolerant people I encounter at the shopping mall or in profiles on Facebook.

Here's hoping that we come to some sort of resolution on this issue that is dividing our nation.

Laura,

i don't [never have] listened to talk radio. for awhile I was participating on the Huffington Post. These two communication vehicles are killing all of our spirits. Hate breeds more hate.

How did America get so stupid? Reality tv and talk shows? As a country I would classify us as emotionally disturbed.

anyway thank you,
paula
