turmeric generally has few if any side effects.

however, i believe there are a few cautions for specific conditions. although there may be more, i can think of one off the top of my head, like if you take blood thinners or such.

i believe it's more of a precaution to not exceed recommended levels.

i dunno there may be other things you may need to be aware of or cautions to keep in mind. it's a common preservative, spice, colorant.

just trying to be of help, not discourage any one of it's potential value or benefits.

The U Tube broadcast is what gave me the basis on how to try to make the fermented papaya.....after fermenting though, was not real enthralled with his process...that is why I tryed adding ground flax seed and drying chips. Now I am makinig cookie size blobs and flattening them. Less time consuming and it makes about what I use as a "dose" in the morning. I have also started adding some agave syrup to taste and alttle salt....
we like it alot....I could eat them like cookies!

Moondaughter.. don't know what you mean by juice coming out of the papaya. It shoud be ripe enough to mash or if too firm, I put thru a salad shooter or a food processor to break it up. Then stir in cinnamon, turmeric and alitttle salt. My last batch (a salad shooter batch) actually started to bubble alittle at 7 days, which no other batch has ever done, it was good too and no mold was on it...absolutely perfect.
Sorry I don't respond to questions right away. I don't have a computor and have to go to a library occasionally and sometimes have a few minutes at work.

More research on papaya...the more I research, the more amazed I am with the whole plant and fruit.....here are some of the things I've found:
It favorably modulates immunological, hematological (blood), inflamation, vascular,
oxidative stress damage , neuroprotective potential in Alzheimers & PD
Beneficial for a variety of : cancers, diabetes, arthritis
& contains phytoestrogens for menopasal women
The leaves made into tea is good for breaking down the protein covering on cancer cells so they can be eliminated.
Papaya is a folk remedy for contraception and abortion....Do not use if pregnant!!!!!
It is a natural wormer
It has been used for termite control
Good against ringworm
Used for a face wash
Reduces inflamation and pain (also the seeds)
The seeds treat stomachache and fungal infections, they can be dried and ground to be used as a substitute for peper( I cannot tolerate pepper , but am enjoying this sprinkled in food that I eat now...its really flavorful, but doesn't choke me or make me sneeze.

Green papaya is a good meat tenderizer
Papaya is used for disturbances of the gastrointestinal tract
It breaks down wheat gluten (helpful for those with Celiac disease)
Papaya helps settle a nervous and upset stomach
Also felt to relieve BPH (benign protate enlargement)
Fruit is bacteriostatic against E coli, Salmonella, Staphylococcus and others
It improves healing from burns
Papya has a dramatic effect against a broad range of lab grown tumors, including
cervical, breast, liver, lung and pancreas.
Papaya extract had notoxic effects on normal cells
Papaya juice coontains antioxidants that scavage free-radicals, waste products
and invironmental toxins (like tobacco smoke)
WARNINGS!!!! Do not use any products of papaya if you have latex allergies!!!
It releases a latex fluid which provoke allergic reation in some people(anaphylactic shock)
*Do not use if pregnant
*Do not use if on blood thinners (coumadin, asprins, warfarin etc....consult your doctor...
it has blood thinning properties

Another addition to cautions...there are drugs called MAOI that don't go well with fermented foods...cheeses, kraut , etc . We do not know yet if a seven day ferment is long enough to actually get a reaction from these drugs that alot of PD patients take.
Anyone tried fermented papaya who are on these drugs????

Well, the fermented papaya is still working for me and several others...hope some of you are trying to make your own. My dad's balance is horrible without it. Works like magic for me. It is not hard and well worth the price of a $30 no temp control dehydrator!

HI, I have been thinking about tepache made from pineapple recently. Papaya makes good sense also. Please give us an update on how this is working for those of you using Papaya. How long have you had PD? Have you been able to lower your meds? What symptoms are going into remission. My dad has PD and this would be very helpful. Destiny

Papaya and pineapple have some qualities simular, but the papaya has been proven to work for PD (the last Pope even used it with success). For me It has improved my eyes. It took away my nitetime symptoms of bent over/ drag right foot sideways/ my left hand in front of me bent in "begging puppy possition with right hand kind of flailing trying to keep my balance....daytimes I use tincture of fava tops and do fine, but don't take it after 9:30 when I go to bed.

Default Is dehydration necessary?

Aunt Bean, thanks so much for the recipe for fermented papaya. I notice that in the You Tube video the guy doesn't use a dehydrator. Do you think this process can be done without a dehydrator?
