Talk about weird weather..Then again maybe it isnt weird for New England..It was almost 70 and sunny on Tue-Wed..Then it snowed on Thu, and rained today..My support group meeting was supposed to be this morning, but I got a call from our facillitator at about 8:30 AM because they decided to cancel it because of the weather..We moved the meeting into a different hospital on trial basis, because our new APDA Outreach facillitator is affiliated with this other hospital, and the Pd neurology staff has moved there as well from the former location..The drive is about another 5-10 minutes longer for me, but is closer for most of the rest of our members..Not a big deal for me

Our APDA Chapter meeting was this past Tuesday night, and we have four new members to our board..One who has pd and 3 volunteers..We need all the help we can get, as out board membership has been shrinking

I got some work done on my boat at the beginning of the week, but Ive been cooped up in the house for a couple of days just hanging around because of the snow..I have little desire to drive anywhere in it these days..I dont feel safe driving on a slippery surface with pd..We've been real lucky because we had very little snowfall this winter..I got the snowblower ready in January, but havent had to use it.......yet!

At least if there were some good shows on tv I wouldnt mind waiting out the lousy weather..The new season of the "Deadliest Catch" doesnt start untill April..

Ditto the weather. We don't have rain yet, but we did have 70ish temps on Tues, then 12 inches of snow yesterday. By Monday afternoon it will mostly be gone, just in time for Spring to officially begin on Wednesday. I took pictures today at the request of my FL-Mom.

I am off on Thursday to Ft. Lewis, WA (Seattle/Tacoma) to say goodbye to my son, as he prepares to leave for Iraq the first week of April. My oldest granddaughter (16 yrs), my son and I will see the sights of Seattle, then onto the mountains for my gd's first snow boarding lesson...I will not be looking...okay!!

I moved the end of January into this home. I am down to just one room that still have piles to be put away. Progress is being made. Finished hanging pictures on the walls downstairs just today.

Went to bed too early - up doing what I really enjoy - watching movies in the middle of the night. Just finished one called 'Walk on Water' - I recommend it - excellent story about an Israeli coming to terms with the past as he befriends the adult German grandchildren of the Nazi he is supposed to kill. A surprisingly sensitive movie.

Almost tired enough to sleep again. Taking Sinemet to avoid the dreaded dystonia. Went to a birthday party tonight and took a walk with another ex-teacher with MS. We both actually considered that being sick might be easier than teaching in a public school these days. It's the ridiculous administrative and regulatory decisions that take all the fun out of the job.

Of course we didn't really mean we liked being sick.

No more typing or I'll enter the land of the dystonia and have to stretch in all kinds of weird positions, many of them upside down, to get out of it.

I had company last week and more company this week. It's fine - these are much loved people visiting us. But we're busy.

Weather in Phoenix has been 20 deg. hotter than usual -- 97 yesterday -- yikes waaaay too hot for March! But it's supposed to get down to the 80s & hopefully 70s later in the week.

We're going on a short road trip tomorrow - taking sis-in-law to Tucson to sightsee around there. That will be fun.

Snow, snow and more snow. A patient told me Fri. about the roof on their arch-rib shed collapsing onto their holiday trailer, tractor etc. Another had the roof over their pool/gym room collapse. So much damage. We're all becoming very philosophical, and trying to be glad that the dugouts and reservoirs will fill again after some very dry years. According to some farmer's almanac, we're going to have as much snow in March and April as we did in Jan. and Feb.

My new treadmill is getting lots of use. I entertain myself on it by altering the speed and incline. When that gets boring, I'll try out the programs that are in it. I walk to and from work (about 15 mins. one way) and that seems to give me enough sunshine to sleep these days, so I don't bother trying to go out again to walk farther on the ice/snow/slush/whatever. We're planning the Big Hike again this summer, and I should be ready again if all goes well.

It's so beautiful outside right now it seems a crime to have to stay in and work. Northern Arizona has been thrown into a good spring season...however, we'll get ONE more good cold spell, so I am holding off planting for a few weeks. Jaye, I was in Phx last weekend and about melted! However, the heat did feel good after this cold winter. It's strange to be so warm and read or watch news about the north eastern states getting snow.
I went to Phx to meet my new MDS. He's prtty young but seems very with it. He talked about Azilect a bit. ANyone on it? Your comments? I am doing well, very low on the PD rating. I also got to stay at my daughters place-an old house, but new for her! She's 18 and loves being on her own. It's cute; she made lunch for me and my parents, and then we had a little dinner party. It was very fun and relaxing.
This morning I woke up okay but as the day progresses, my body seems to be drawing in to itself. I forgot my first dose of sinemet, so just ook one and maybe that will help.
The past couple of weeks have been pretty stressful. My son is having a hard time at his dads and we thought he might have to stay with his aunt these last couple months of school, but over the weekend he made a decision to stick it out. He's had a tough year, please pray for him, if you are inclined to prayer.

Hi everyone;

Have come down with a cold that refuses to go away. I may have to sit out the PD support group meeting tomorrow. We have an hour of exercise followed by discussions and sometimes lunch. Tomorrow we'll have our St. Patrick's day lunch...yes, I know we are late. Got hit by the Nor'easter snow storm a few days ago but the air is starting to warm up and by the weekend we should have plenty of standing water on the streets.

My visitor from Portugal left for Woods Hole, Massachusetts yesterday where she will stay for 5 weeks. She is working on past climate change in the North Atlantic.

This is the first day of Spring but it will be unlike the Springs of years past. Because we are moving to Maine later in the Summer, I won't plant the garden, put new flowers in or do any of the things that suggest continuity. I'll be giving away my library, odds and ends that I'll never use, gradually downsizing. I'm trying to imagine what life will be like in Maine. For more than 20 years we've spent our vacations there but that was during the summer. In New York City the Learning Annex gives a course entitled "How to Lose your New York Accent." I suppose I will now have to find a course in "How to Acquire a Down East Accent." Don't want to sound like a Carpetbagger.

Well, after weeks of record heat, we've settled down and have our version of spring with temps in the 50's and 60's, some clouds, and light drizzle. Or as they like to say here in Southern California, "Storm Watch 2007!"

I'm on the planning committee and we've been working hard on the 5th Annual NPF Young-Onset Conference in Chicago this coming July 5-8, so mark your calendars. I expect to see you a lot of you there. Keep your eye on the NPF website for registration information, which should be coming soon - within the next couple of weeks.

The publicity company that's handling the travel arrangements and plans for the trip I won through Teva (makers of Azilect) have been great and easy to work with. I'm excited to get to go to NY for the Unity Walk. Should be quite an experience! I just hate traveling coast to coast. Really wipes me out.

Have been compiling my evidence as I prepare to fight my insurance carrier to go out of network to see a MDS, since they don't offer one and their neurology department sucks big time. Wish me luck!

Have some speaking engagements coming up, including one in a brain class at a local college, so I'm off to polish up the PowerPoint presentation.

We are moving to Falmouth which is just outside of Portland. My youngest daughter lives close by...in Gorham. I'll still try to do some research...I have three microscopes.
