Nothing too exciting this week. Still fighting my insurance company to go out of network to see a MDS and they're not being very cooperative. Saw my MDS (out of network of course) today and she is so awesome. Well worth fighting for.

Weather has been mild, so no effect on my PD symptoms. Can't wait for summer to roll on in. I'm ready for it!

Looking forward to going to NY for the Unity Walk in a few weeks. Hopefully, all that crappy weather will be long gone by the time I get there!

Off to go and speak to a bunch of retired rich golfers about living with PD and overcoming adversity. Hope the food is good...

Have a good week everyone!

Default Oh goody gumdrops!

A new series, thank you Chris, I'm going to see if I can get it on Netflix. Our children were teens when Monty Python began on PBS, and we LOVED them - we still do. Our son, Lars, can still recite great chunks of the shows. Our 12 yr old grandson, Peter, got the DVD collection for Christmas, and is quoting chunks of them now, too.
And I love the Monty Python films, flawed though they are, they're brilliant. Life of Brian:"Blessed are the Cheese Makers." And King Arthur: "Brave Sir Robin." And the dinner party that is crashed by Death in The Meaning of Life.
Terry Jones is my favorite too. I see him sitting at a piano, in his bare nothing except for socks, sweetly smiling at the camera over his shoulder. His "Crusades", scholarly and historically perfect, are wonderful too.
I also like Terry Gilliams' films, Time Bandits, Brazil and Munchhausen.
The Young Ones - wow Teresa, you watched The Young Ones too - now there is zany humor.... Lars and I thought they were hilarious, the rest of the family thought they were awful. I even have them on tape.......
Thank goodness for the people who make us laugh.
This week end we visited friends in Washington DC, and got a tour of the city by 'natives'. It was raining too hard to get out of the car, but we could still see how impressive the city is, and how beautiful.
Alexandria was a lovely surprise, with Federal houses and cobblestone streets.
The edge of the NorEaster is shaking the trees and rattling the windows. We are fortunate not to have snow.

Teresa/Birte

Watched an old episode of "Who wants to be a Millionaire" on a repeats channel tonight and one of the questions was "Who stole from the rich to give to the Poor" and momentarily I waited for Dennis Moore to come up as one of the answer options, as in a Python sketch he famously "stole from the poor to give to the rich" which was followed by the rhyme "silly ******" as I recall. The Python programs and films had such an impact that they still linger, worryingly, in even my Levodopa pickled brain!!

What did the Romans ever do for us?
Brian is a very silly boy.
This is an ex parrot (norwegian blue).
We put on womens clothing and hang around in bars (lumberjack song).

And so much more.

And Eric Idle playing the piano, in some hideous outfit in the blackmail sketch.

Amazing stuff, wonderful memories.

Thank you for briefly taking me back there ....................

Chris

Default Monty Python

did anyone ever see the "twit of the year" sketch??
It is hilarious!!

"she turned me into a newt!!"
"I'm feeling better!"

Bring out your dead, bring out your dead!!"
"But I'm not dead yet!"
WHACK, "Bring out your dead!"

"I want a Shrubbery!"

" We are the knights who say "nic"".

In this film we hope to show how not to be seen..Mr. E.V. Lambert of Homeleigh, The Burrows, Oswestly, has presented us with a poser. We do not know which bush he is behind, but we can soon find out. Yes it was the middle one.

Oh, I'm a lumberjack, and I'm okay,
I sleep all night and I work all day.

CHORUS: He's a lumberjack, and he's okay,
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

I cut down trees, I eat my lunch,
I go to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays I go shoppin'
And have buttered scones for tea.

Mounties: He cuts down trees, he eats his lunch,
He goes to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays he goes shoppin'
And has buttered scones for tea.

I cut down trees, I skip and jump,
I like to press wild flowers.
I put on women's clothing,
And hang around in bars.

Mounties: He cuts down trees, he skips and jumps,
He likes to press wild flowers.
He puts on women's clothing
And hangs around.... In bars???????

I chop down trees, I wear high heels,
Suspenders and a bra.
I wish I'd been a girlie
Just like my dear papa.

Mounties: He cuts down trees, he wears high heels
Suspenders and a .... a Bra????
(mounties break off song, and begin insulting lumberjack)

Default Benny Hill

Lloyd, my husband likes Benny Hill. If he posted here he would have mentioned Benny Hill. Very funny man, Benny Hill - in Lederhosen and jaunty Tyrolean hat.......but not as quotable as Monty Python.

Default Lumberjack song

They just don't write them like that anymore.................

In the UK here at the weekend on TV (CH4) there was a program about the nation's favourite top 50 comedy charactors, as voted for by god knows who. But interestingly Basil (John Cleese) from Faulty Towers came out on top. Isn't he now more famous in the US for Titleist golf ball ads?

Thanks for digging out the words to the Python song, brought a smile to my face after a difficult day.
