Curious? I often read of those who have been to see their "shrinks". Many seem like this is ongoing indefinitely.
Is this more like someone who is there to listen to your problems and thereby a feeling of getting things bothering you out of your system? Or, in many cases, are they helpful in giving advice on how to deal with issues? Gerry Last edited by ger715; 11-08-2014 at 09:43 AM. |

I saw a counselor just to find some coping strategies and all I got back was reflecting constantly (repeating what was just heard). She was nice, but not really that helpful. Hope you find the help you seek. ![]() These symptoms that change so much are challenging for the strongest and most sane as well. ![]() |

I did make sure a handful of people at work know the score as far as PN. I never want to use it as an excuse for behavior and performance, but it is on the pitch and wins some battles.

Thanks for your input. My curiosity was seeing posters refer to seeing their "shrink". Just wasn't sure if they are referring to a counselor, psychiatrist, etc. Gerry |

![]() I had counseling as a teenager and it did me a lot of good. I have so much bottled up that I just need to 'pour' out to someone. And I'd rather that someone be qualified to try and sort some of this out for me. I'm just a mess at this point ![]() Debi from Georgia |

When you're family and friends can no longer tolerate the moaning and complaining, it's nice to have someone who will listen in an outwardly non judgmental way. Even if it is their job.
