For burning I have used Aspercreme with Lidocaine. Also Topricin pain relief cream. Morton's Epsom Cream which is magnesium was helpful to calm the nerves but it has been discontinued. Other posters are experimenting with other magnesium creams. When needed I depend on my tens machine for temporary relief. It doesn't work for everyone.
Are you on any supplements? Benfotamine has greatly helped me. Other posters speak highly of Stabilized R Lipoic Acid. Supplement results probably depend on deficiency and/or the cause of neuropathy but there seems to be some that work across the board. I have tried to figure out what triggers the burning for me and then I try to avoid those things.

Any oral magnesium will work except the OXIDE form.
Sometimes applying topically opens up the circulation to let the blood flow into stagnant areas. Using oral in cases where the circulation is poor, may not get the mag where it is needed most. Using the topical first, for a couple of weeks, then adding the oral may work best. Topical works best on targeted areas, like the feet, or hands. It is not recommended for whole body application. I have found that using topical mag can be rotated though. Feet one day, hands the next and so on. Biofreeze gel is also helpful for some people who have burning. I use it mostly on my knees and feet when I have a flare.

For the 1st month I took 1 pill (150mg) in the morning and 1 pill (150mg) in the evening. After the 1st month 1 took 1 pill (150mg) in the morning only. This amount works for me.
