You know they had some article in AARP or some mag for us over the half century crowd...it was that older people just do not want to waste time learning all this techno stuff.

Now I am pretty patient with stuff. I have built websites, bought online, mastered a few chatrooms including the very nasty political ones they had going in the last presidential election.....But when I get the 'Old Testament' to use a phone....I have not got that much time left on earth to waste learning all the nuances of that device. I know eventually I will but for now, I am waiting for planned obsolesence to save me money and time.

My fingers are getting too stiff to use those teeny tiny keys...I hit 3 numbers at once...ever try to renew your prescription by cell phone?

I am sitting looking at one of the original pacemakers ever made by GE. My dad had prototypes, and he had an xray tube (which I accidentally broke---my Lord, I thought we would both die--either from what was in it....or by the loss of the valuable object...he never forgave me, bless his soul).....and I have the pacemaker...it is safely in a frame.

It is a good thing that some folks are not intimidated by new technology.

Curiosity, learning and resilience are definitely in the recipe for longevity.

One of these days, I will pull out the thick books that came with my camera, my phone, and all the other stuff and find out what these things really do.

By the way..... I ended up with a 560$ cell phone bill----(a 289$ credit has been issued.) I was charged a 200$ cancellation of contract fee....for no reason as I didn't cancel...a reinstatement fee, upcharges as my plan was changed and one of my 5 lines ran over minutes by 98$ as my anytime minutes were changed, OH and taxes for all this reinstatement, new plan and other stuff I did not ask for. It took 3 phone calls and a letter to straighten it all out....technology is great, but did you know they charge you to store pictures on your phone? They charge for all kinds of stuff. Our only problem was my son broke his phone, bought a new one and we needed it activated....I guess the person at the phone store was not listening...a bit like your experience Mel...

They get us hooked on this stuff and then before you realize it, you are stuck with a huge bill. My real phone bill was only 200$ (only, sheesh). I do carry 5 lines, as I have lines going for 3 kids for one more year of our two year contract...then back down to two phones.

Plus we have a land line, DISH and DSL thru that land line...that bill is huge too. I can't cancel the land line even if computer goes wireless...I still need my satellite TV...

I may end up Amish if this keeps up....I keep turning the heat down to afford my techy stuff. Is there logic in this....help me Mr. Spock.
