Still cold
Hi,
The heater is running. It's March.  Very strange. I feel confused. M. |
wiggy weather
Quote:
i remember one time... one particular day... back when i was living in California. real hot day, i had to have the AC on full blast all day... then at night it got nippy enough i had to switch to heat. this happened in mid JUNE!!!! (and no, i did not live in a desert area or mountains!) weather can be real wiggy sometimes. ~ waves ~ |
Hurraaay March Weather. It is sunny here in NY with 58 degrees temperature :)
|
warmer here too
i went out without a jacket for the first time today.
well, i had it, but had to take it off and carry it because it was just too warm out there. (my appointment sucked and i won't go back there, but it was free, and at least now i have narrowed my options, so it was ultimately useful.) ~ waves ~ |
It's suppose to be sunny today,Friday, and Saturday in Virginia. The weather is warming up,and the Spring Peepers are still singing. We are getting very close to Spring. Soon it will be obvious. BF:hug::hug::hug:
|
It has been spring here for weeks.
some azaleas, paperwhites have been done for a while now, carolina yellow jasmine that covers our swing terrace in front, japanese magnolias (tulip trees), are all in full bloom so it is gorgeous here. all of my ammyrylus bulbs (I have at least a dozen in the ground) the follage died so not sure if they will bloom this year or not. At physical therapy there was a large vase full of forsinthia yellow bush springs it was beautiful! bizi |
low 90s for two days
Hi,
How do you like the warm weather? We usually have days in the mid/ high 80s but the past two days it was 90s. The rainy weather has shown up for the summer. http://bestsmileys.com/umbrellas/4.gif And somebody (hubby or my girlfriend) had better take me to the beach soon!!! I'm going to insist on it. :hissyfit: And I am going to walk barefoot on the sand and get sand every where. http://bestsmileys.com/water/9.gif I need to connect with the earth. M. |
I love your graphics of playing in the sand!
I hope you get to the beach soon! we will probably go in august if the beaches are safe that is..... |
i miss the beach. i especially miss my island beaches. but i miss the ocean in general.
i hope you get to go to the beach. ~ waves ~ |
here we go....1st named storm of the season....
In Guatemala, 73 people were killed as rains unleashed lethal landslides across the country, according to government disaster relief spokesman David de Leon. Tropical Storm Agatha made landfall near the nation's border with Mexico with winds up to 45 mph (75 kph) on Saturday and was dissipating rapidly Sunday over the mountains of western Guatemala.

92 Degrees today with huge thunderstorms
Here is my pic of the Royal Poinciana tree in bloom for a short period around this time every year. They are my fav trees. I like seeing the strong colors.
Facebook has these trees in Farmville and calls them Gulmohar trees. By either name, they are gorgeous. http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/o.../gulmohar1.jpg Royal Poinciana Tree -- found in S. FL, South Texas, the low deserts of Southern Arizona (to as high as Tucson), Southern California, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Caribbean, Madagascar, India, and so on. |
oooh thank you for that!!!
GREAT PIC!
yes the royal poincianas are soooo beautiful! :) where i used to live would be smothered in them right now!! i do miss them! we also had the yellow variety - not so common but also pretty, ever seen it? http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1375/...133f32cc54.jpg Delonix regia var.flavida ~ waves ~ ps. wikipedia's entry for yellow poinciana is confused at best - the tree they give is sometimes dubbed yellow poinciana, but it is a different species. get them to a botanist. :o the pic & link above correspond to a yellow variety of the royal poinciana (species D.regia). you will recognize the leaves. pps. i miss the tremendous thunderstorms, too. :o we hardly even get what i consider "real rain" here. |
Hi,
I am going to be on the look out for the yellow variety. I read that we are having a great blooming season due to the cold winter we had. M. |
thank you for sharing the photo.
That is gorgous! bizi my roses bloomed well this year due to our colder winter. |
anxious about rain
Hi,
The Royal Poincianas are still in bloom. I'm happy that I get to see their energy this year. I did find a neighborhood with the Yellow Poincianas. They are amazing. =-=-=-=-=-= Tropical Storm Bobbie is dropping rain on us on its way to Louisiana. Some sounds I hardly notice. For example, I don't notice screaming babies. It's as if part of my brain turns them off. Rain on my roof, however, makes me jumpy. My brain is hyper alert to it. I would prefer to be totally insulated from the sound of rain. I would sleep better without the sound of rain. M. |
screaming babies drive me nuts.
i love the sound of rain... on roof, on ground... i find it soothing. i love going to sleep with that. i miss watching and listening to storms. i wish we could share: i wish i could confer upon you the ability to enjoy the rain, and that you could confer upon me the ability to tune out screaming kids. our temps have hit the 100's. but it's not as bad as the summer of 2003 when there was a heatwave throughout the continent. we had intense heat that lasted throughout september. this year it is expected to let up soon i think. ~ waves ~ |
looks florida may be in for some weather.....
I heard about the mudslides in mexico...terrible! Crazy high today in L.A. was 117????or close to that. Here in louisiana the high today was 83 and it is 69 right now with a low of 58 tonight.... fall is coming!!!!! bizi |
rain
Hi,
We are under a tropical storm watch. Wednesday we are going to have what the tv calls "a rain event." . . . wind, chance of tornadoes and lots and lots of rain (4 to 8 inches). M. |
raining now
more rain to come
|
I will be thinking about you and hopefully the rains won;'t cause any problems.
bizi |
i hope you will be ok Mari.:hug::hug: ~ waves ~
|
ok, but roads are bad
Hi,
The rain was sporadic enough that I did not have to drive in downpours. Some neighborhoods were flooded. I have to go out again before it gets dark . . . . down town . . . not even sure how to get there. 'will talk to you later. M. |
our first cold front
Hi,
We have a mini-cold front coming in tomorrow. I am very confused about what to wear. We should have rain too. M. |
Hi Mari,
My brain is in overload, but the Mom thing says to dress with layers to remove. A short sleve with a light sweater, then a jacket that can come off. I did that yesterday, in the NE we had rain, the morning before frost on everything so heavy. Not ready to bring out the winter coats as the afternoons although Nov. have been high 40's to low 50's. The rain really killed my body, and the shorter days of light. I feel like I can't wait until the sun comes out and go outside feeling it hit my skin....wish it had a healing power; if only it was not so cold. I am using my floor lamp that is for this type of season, never needed it until 9:00 pm, now it is on by 5pm. TGIF, have the best day you can my friend. |
Dear Di,
I know that you suffer from insomnia, could the light box be stimulating you? interferring with your sleep? jsut a thought. bizi |
Dear Mari
layers are always helpful. for fall cold fronts in FL one thing i used to like a lot were cotton flannel shirts as 2nd layer. esp. over a tshirt as 1st layer and a light windbreaker over the whole thing. if it's colder (and in winter), you can "upgrade" to flannel shirt as 1st layer instead of tshirt. light or heavier sweater 2nd layer jacket as 3rd layer - light o a heavier as appropriate. ~ waves ~ |
Hi,
I was very worked up (anxious) last night when I posted about the cold front. Since April / May we have had highs around 85 degrees F. Today our high was 75 degrees F. I was actually upset about the weather last night. This morning I woke up alert and unafraid. I wore a usual out fit with two changes: ~closed toe shoes instead of my sandals and ~a long scarf. I was not trying to make a big deal out of nothing (change in weather); I actually felt that it was a huge deal. I hope that you understand. :o http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/o...l/images-2.jpg M. |
Dear Mari
i *LOVE* scarves! :) how odd i didn't think to suggest one... i guess with stable weather, dressing can be automatic. we may think more or less about esthetics but basically know that the gear that worked yesterday will work again today. when the temps drop suddenly we have to figure out - what is 10 less degrees going to feel like to me? - how much/which stuff is needed to compensate for that? often as temps start changing, i find myself either too dressed or not dressed enough. and i've noticed others complain of this too... "never know what to wear with this weather," i hear ppl comment on the bus all the time. so i think it is a general problem. i have sometimes wondered about it though. we go through this every year, yet, it doesn't seem to get any easier.... weird. ------ right now we are in midseason (we have 3 season-types, hot, cold, midseason). one thing i like about the colder seasons is the ability to wear LOTS OF SCARVES! :):):) i have so many i seldom buy them any more... but recently i treated myself to one i couldn't resist - bright turquoise with silver filament. it is a nice cotton too. (it was about the price of a beer or a sandwich lol). ~ waves ~ |
The temperature is going down in the upper 20's tonight. That's normal for this time of the year. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Burr!!!!!!
|
The temperature went down to 32 degrees. Between the cold weather, and the time change things are not right inside me.
I'm a little more depressed then usual. There is no reason for it. It just came out of no where,or it's the weather. I'm going to church in a few minutes with family, and then we are going to see my dad in the nursing home. I hope that my mood doesn't make my family back away again. I don't know.:hug::hug::hug: |
Quote:
i understand the concern. these changes in the weather could be unsettling you. depression can make us worry more, or imagine unpleasant scenarios. i hope and your family have a nice time together at church, and then visiting your dad, and that when you come home you feel reassured and maybe in slightly better spirits. in any case, post and let us know how it goes.:hug::hug: ~ waves ~ |
weather as a metaphor for work
Quote:
Yes. You explain this very well. I've been wearing the same things since August when school started. It was disconcerting to come up with a different plan for a cool day. The afternoon temp at 75 degrees might be fine but the am will be cooler than usual and the evening will be much cooler when the cold front will have arrived. How will I manage being comfortable in the building? . . . each room (office, classroom 1, class room 2) has a different temp depending on whatever is going on with the Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning. I move around from inside to outside through out the day so I do not go into the building at the start of the day and then leave the building at the end of the day. If is is windy or raining, then the variables expand. Also, even though it is 75 degrees (relatively warm all things considered), it is not appropriate to wear summer clothes in November. The students and my colleague will have made the same mental / comfort calculations that I did and we what we wear will fit into an appropriate range that demonstrates that we made some adjustments to the first big drop of temps in the year. =-=-=- I'm trying to work out something and made a mess out of it. M. |

I hear you. Weather changes can be unsettling -- like changes with Daylight Saving can be unsettling. I hope that you enjoy your day with your family. Maybe your mood will improve when you are around them. M. |
nah, i got it!

i also read your post in the other thread - i get the analogy: stable weather is to work as season change is to job-hunting. not to mention that i am putting up with a season change on top of job hunting!!!! so far, have been lucky - have not had rainy days coincide with interviews. but the last day out... ugh. had to get out very early - 40's, wind... requiring the heavier outer jacket. i also had a wool blazer because it's the only one that fits. bus usually heated, to varying extent. usually too full to remove outer layer. subway same. then day temps run in the 60's which makes the jacket only needed in shade or wind. but they have these new trams with NO windows i swear it was like 85 degrees in there... the interview turned out to be in a building where my cousin's hubby works. so he texted me his room number and i got to have coffee with him. after the interview, since i was closer to my aunt's neck of the woods than i usually get, i called her. she was out shopping which worked out even better - we were one block apart! lol. so we met up and hung out a bit. then i was tired at that point and ready to get OUT of my no-longer-comfortable-clothes ... AND THEN came the nightmare of getting home...... rerouted by an accident.... arghhh. do they sell environment suits on ebay? :D (CHEAP?) i want something i put on over whatever i'm wearing and compensate for the extreme measures taken by the idiots who set up public trans to compensate for the weather. i can dream........ ~ waves ~ |

It's strange how moods swing. I never know when my mood is going to crash. A mood crash is a disabling event. I'm ok right now. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
Dear Steve,
thanks for checking in. :) i am glad things went well with your family. i hope you get to visit with your dad soon, also. mood swings sure are unpredictable. they make a mess of life. so hard to make plans, or when we do, we sometimes have to back out... it's as you say, a mood crash is a disabling event! and then, it feels bad enough to feel bad, without the having to choose whether to cancel plans or show up feeling all horrid and vulnerable and people getting all worried. good to hear you are feeling ok right now! i hope you continue to feel well. :):hug::hug: ~ waves ~ |
