OK - Wait just a minute!!!!! I am not that far north of you and it isn't even close to 70 degrees here! Rainy, cold and damp CRAPPY here!!!!!

ok, now that I have that out of my system!

Kelly thanks for starting the new thread! Hope you hear from the Neuro today.

Frank & Deb - glad you made it home safe. Sure sounds like your son has a good head on his shoulders. It is hard to be a parent seeing your children in hard situations and you can't take the hurt away. I am sure your support helped him alot!!!

Vonn - take care of that cold, you don't want to get pulled down by it!!!

~~~~~~~~
I am moving very slow this morning - as stated crappy cold rainy weather and it is taking a toll on the body. Didn't sleep AGAIN last night. This morning my eyes are very blurry. Gosh when will this end??
soxmom 10-09-2008 09:10 AM
Maybe it is heading your way Char. It rained last night here and was
cloudy and damp at 6 a.m. when I woke up. Hope so.........:hug:
yeahbut 10-09-2008 09:14 AM
oh good! I know it is suppose to be a great weekend! so lets hope so!! :)
Vonn07 10-09-2008 09:15 AM
well, Char, ole buddy, ole friend ... I've only had *this* for a bit over a year ... and I LOVE the cool, rainy weather ... will our circles end?? probably not ... but, that's okay ..
ever since I was dx'd last year, my neuro said 'you need to listen to your body' ... and the funny thing is, that actually, I never really *listened* ... when I started REALLY listening ... I learned something about myself - it does seem selfish at times, but because of our illness, we can be - not to be ultimate whiney ... but, we can whine too .. it's in our *listening* ...
we may never fully understand ... we need to accept our new self - and be kind to ourselves .. it's tough!
I was raised, if you're not dead - you go to school! I had to learn to soften up and be nice to myself ... and it's okay!
yeahbut 10-09-2008 09:27 AM
I have also been told many times to "listen to your body". That and doing what is best for "Me" has been very hard.
I also grew up "if you aren't puking go to school"! I have lived by that my whole life.... along with there is always someone out there a lot worse than you are so get moving.
Learning to say "No" and "it is ok not to do something" is very hard for me but I am trying!!!
tkrik 10-09-2008 09:31 AM
Good morning All!
Funny the topic of not listening to ourselves is the topic this morning. LOL I did not listen to myself and am paying the price. Spasms are driving me crazy!!! Went to Target the other night with DDs after a day of house cleaning and no resting/nap. Had a spasm from my foot right up to my butt that darn near dropped me to the floor. Good thing a rack was there for me to hold on to. My foot was contorted and my leg was stuck in a bent position.
In the meantime, DD18 was yakking, yakking, yakking about something I could have cared less about at that point but I ended up laughing at the same time. She was completely oblivious to what was going on. :rolleyes: DD17 on the other hand was trying to help me yet there was nothing she could do. I just had to wait it out/work it out, do my deep breathing (thank goodness for La Maze classes) and try not to laugh.
We have been deep cleaning the house, mainly the girls room. The closets have been cleaned out (girls and linen), their walls are 1/2 washed and the walls in the rest of the house have been done, baseboards washed, etc.
Do I listen to my body? NOOOOO!!!! I just keep going and going. My mind still thinks my body is the Energizer Bunny. Mind and body are so out of sink. lol
Today, I hope to rest but I am not sure I can do that as I don't want to sit too long lest the spasms get worse.
Ok, that is my tidbit on not listening to what my body is saying. lol
Kitty 10-09-2008 09:41 AM
I should take your advice, Vonn. I tend to be hard on myself...especially if I'm not feeling well or having troublesome sx.....I tend to think that some others have it much worse than me so who am I to complain. I shouldn't compare my illness with others all the time. I didn't choose this....just as they didn't choose to have their ailments.....but sometimes I just feel guilty because I feel as though I was spared somehow and others weren't. Probably not making much sense here but I hope I got my thoughts through OK.
Char...I hope you get to feeling better. I know how bothersome those sx can be. Especially when there isn't much we can do about them except wait them out.
Vonn, take care of that cold. Do you get a flu shot? I don't....never have.
Tricia, you're making me look very lazy!!! Washing baseboards.....I just took a look at mine and they sure do need cleaning!!!
Vonn07 10-09-2008 10:03 AM
LOL, Kelly ... I need to heed to my own advice ... :rolleyes:
it's a new direction in our life ... just a new path ... but, I believe that we aren't given more than we can handle ... it's tough - but it's okay ... and sure - there will always be others worse off than we are .. but that's THEIR predicament ... and we need to care for ourselves and our needs ... and can't try to figure out others or compare ...
we are living examples at what we can do WITH an illness .. and an inspiration to others ...
weegot5kiz 10-09-2008 10:05 AM
we still had 200 post to go, before we hit 1000, that old thread was good for at least another 5 hours:Bang-Head:
yeahbut 10-09-2008 10:23 AM
Trish we have been doing cleaning around here too... well I say "we" but David has been doing most of it! :D
Last night I woke up around midnight with the creepy crawlies driving me nuts! I don't know what else to call it...? It felt like I have something crawling all over me and I have found nothing to make it go away. I finally had to get out of bed, scatch like heck and move around! That drives me nuts.
And then late yesterday afternoon Daisy, (black lab) decided it was time to play toss with an apple from the back tree. I finally gave in after 10 minutes of her actually tossing the apple to me and giving me that look of "please momma throw it for me". So I tossed the apple for her for about 10 minutes, yup you guessed it my arm is killing me today! :eek:
just another example of when to say no....
FranksAngel 10-09-2008 10:29 AM
well, "run away" son is back home ... seems the girl he went to live with was trying to make him into something he wasn't ... she told him get a tatoo so he now has a tat on his back left shoulder... she told him pierce your ears so he now has tiny studs in his ear ... she told him we are piercing our tongue so he did ... then chris' money ran out and suddenly she didn't like his voice, the way he dresses, ... chris told us how she was ... the dad is paranoid skiz and chris thought daughter was too ... he said it was like he couldn't move, talk to anyone, without her approval ... he said he thought she had "too many different personalities" ... anyway he is home ... has a beaut of a black eye ... says he ran into door ... disenchanted and sad but overall seems ok ... i was afraid he would be withdrawn from reality ... as autistic people tend to do when stress is too high ... the drive down and back was extremely hard on frank ... we were in my car ... an older model grand prix ... extremely hard for him to get in and out off .... but it had the better tires and the better gas mileage ... and of course he insisted on driving the whole time ... i tried to get him to let me drive but no ... i think he drove to stay calm ... so we are home safe ... tired but safe ...
i am leaving for work in about 10 minutes so i need to jet ... i hope this post finds everyone cheerful ... until this evening ...
FinLady 10-09-2008 10:37 AM
LOL. Look what I started. :D Ah, but it's good to know I'm not the only stubborn one. ;)
I also grew up with the unless you have a fever or you're having tummy issues - you're going to school. Which is a good thing since I have bad allergies, or I would have never gone, LOL.
I too sometimes think I can do more since there are others worse off than me, but learning my new boundaries and trying to adjust. Hard to accept :Sigh:, but slowly learning.
Took longer than it used to, but the yard has been taken care of. Sitting here cooling down with the ceiling fan and a nice cold glass of aqua. Going to rest for an hour or so to see how I feel. LOL, at least I got my exercise for the day in. ;)
EDIT: Deb, glad you guys made it home ok.
barb02 10-09-2008 10:46 AM
Got up early this morning at 5:00 to grade those dang exams. I just did not want them hanging over me during the weekend. So of course, now I am tired. Some of the students will be happy to get them back, and others will be upset -- if they actually make it to class.
After my class, I need to run a few errands, and then pack at some point for the weekend. The weather is beautiful here -- 70s and sunny.
Gas is down to $3.05 here in Chucktown.
Have to leave for class. Try not to overdo it, you all:eek:
weegot5kiz 10-09-2008 10:47 AM
in our house it was the same also, and we got to hear ' the don't want to hear it unless you are bleeding', comment a lot
pretty sure overdoing it is a side effect of MS, we feel blah and get naught done, then feeling good again and we go 200mph to get all we haven't gotten done and all we possible can get done asap. over doing it does seem to be one of the bigger problems MSers face, that is unfortunately our fault for not clearly thinking it through
I mean it makes me think of one thing can you teach an old dog new tricks.... I guess only if the old dog wants to learn.... my ignorance has cost me a few days in bed, I have gotten better, but still over do it some days without realizing it till its too late
oh well life goes on
not to waste some ink, but dont over do it today lol god I slay myself:wink:
SandyC 10-09-2008 10:47 AM
Hey all, I found ya! You can't run away from me that easily. hahaha
I am cleaning bathrooms today. They need it and I need to do it. I finished the laundry yesterday!!!! Whoohoo!
Jim and I will be going out tomorrow to get some cleaning stuff. Have you ever ran out of dish soap? I did and anti-bacterial hand soap works really good as a replacement!
Frank and Deb, glad you made it home.
Char, that sounds like my legs. I wonder if you also have restless leg going on? Jim said he has felt that before and he is convinced it's ms or a combo. It sucks because I am so afraid someday I wont look and a real bug will be on me! :yikes:
Kelly, when my boys come home on breaks it drives us crazy that our usually quiet house becomes a slam everything you can at 6am kind of home. ARGH. I hope you hear about your MRI today.
Vonn, glad to hear about your car getting fixed. One problem off the table eh?
Barb, sorry your feeling down. It's normal to be afraid of the what if's. I think we all go through that at some time. :hug:
Trish, lol Isn't it funny how they have no clue at times? I can be rolling my eyes and shifting my feet for my boys to hurry up their stories and they never even notice. They are stuck in their own little worlds sometimes. hahaha Sometimes I just nod and say "uh huh" over and over. lol
Sox, thank you. :hug: Nothing is in stone but at least they are seriously talking now. Jim is happy to hear he had the best surgery out there and glad to hear the urologist said they did the best surgery he could have at that time.
Jenn, want to come over and help me now? I'll pick you up. :hug: lol
Have a good day everyone. I hope all of our other chatters find us here in our new home. :grouphug:
Momma's Kids 10-09-2008 11:24 AM
I filled out the magazine form for my grandson to help his school and for him to get a glow in the dark Scooby shirt.
I am soooo tired and sleepy, I just had a huge cup of coffee loaded with sugar...didn't help...
It is raining here...love the rain and listening to the thunder.
I also need to answer my BIL's letter ....ok....I have to give in and just
ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
You all have a great day...will check back later...
weegot5kiz 10-09-2008 01:16 PM
slowly I step, step by step, inch by inch......
slowly getting my act together, there is a definite drag going on today, more than likely from the drive last night, that or my lungs are cashed
so how the heck yall doing?
howdy Ma sorry you are feeling blah, hope you feel better, take a nap its good for the soul
peace again
ewizabeth 10-09-2008 01:29 PM
Checking in
Kelly, Thanks for starting a new thread. When they're shorter it's somehow easier for me to reply. :confused: Probably because I have a fear of heights. :winky:
Vonn, I'm glad your car problem is fixed.
Sandy and Jim,
I hope they'll figure out something to help Jim. :grouphug: And Sandy, you're inspiring me to get some cleaning done. :o Hopefully next weekend.
Frank and Deb,
What an ordeal for both of you and your son. Thank goodness he's home safe with you now. :grouphug:
Char,
I'm glad the prednisone started working, but I hope your sleep will improve soon. :hug:
Fin,
It's good to have a good report from the doctor. I hope you can get more rest. When I get enough rest, everything is better. :hug:
Barb,
Enjoy this beautiful weather we're having, it won't be here for too long!
Soxmom,
I hope the nap with the dog was nice. What a blessing this weather has been!
Trish,
When I do deep cleaning I get pains here and there and everywhere. Maybe you are overdoing it? Maybe instead of Energizer Bunny we can be Energizer turtles, lol.
Momma,
It's amazing how Scooby has stood the test of time. Our sons are 25 & 27 and they had Scooby toys and such about 20 or more years ago, lol.
Deb,
I love those graphics you put up, always makes me smile. :hug: You two take it easy after that long trip. I understand completely though, I would go to the ends of the Earth for our sons.
My update:
I have a cold, though it's hard for me to know sometimes. I started having sinus issues Monday afternoon at work, I figured it was allergies. In the evening I was feeling muscle achiness and I hadn't done any work to attribute that to, so I knew it must be a cold. I went to the office late on Tuesday and got some things done, about six hours or so.
Then Wednesday was my day off. I slept until 11:30am, thank goodness. Our sons were coming over for supper and I had to make beef stew for that so got it started, one batch in the crockpot, the other on the stove. (I make a lot so they can take home a lot of leftovers.) I also make this bread recipe to go with it, a yummy flatbread made with brown sugar and whole wheat flour.
Also, my biannual eye checkup was yesterday so even though it was a day to rest and feel better I had quite a bit to do.
I need to exercise and get some housework done, hopefully this weekend. Also, I ordered some bulbs from Breck's for the garden that are shipping so I hope to have those by Saturday so I can get them planted while it's still nice out here.
That's about it with me. I hope you'll all have a nice day today and a good weekend too. :grouphug:
SandyC 10-09-2008 02:17 PM
Wiz, I haven't started yet. I went out to mow the grass and oh my goodness! What's up with all the Asian Beetles? There are swarming here. I heard the farmers use them in their fields so my best guess is they did. lol They were all over me, my neck, my head, my hair, my clothes. Blech!
I have some bulbs to plant this weekend too. I have to rearrange my garden as well. Some of my larger plants have taken over and need to moved to the back of the garden. Yeah for me!
Ok, I am going to check a few things online and then go clean the bathrooms. Maybe. lol
Hope you feel better! Jim's headaches are back. It must be allergies for him.
The beetles are just crazy here too. I think this is the predator beetle that has nearly wiped out the common ladybug. The Asian beetles bite though. :eek:
Well, we should have nice gardens in the spring with all we're doing. :winky:
I hope Jim's headaches will get better. Before I took sinus meds I had them spring and fall. Now I'm on two meds that keep the headaches under control: generic Claritin from Walmart, and Nasonex, a steroid nose spray.
Tell you what, you go first and clean your bathrooms and I'll go next, lol.
soxmom 10-09-2008 02:42 PM
Us too Sandy. Today the ladybugs came out in full force.:( Im really
looking foreward to when they get inside.:rolleyes:. Yucky.
Hi Wiz.........mmm beef stew. My teenage sons love it. i think I have
to get my crockpot out and put on some stew.:)
:hug:
SandyC 10-09-2008 02:42 PM
No, I couldn't. You go first. I insist. :D
Sox, I have my handy dandy electric bug killer racket to kill em dead! lol
barb02 10-09-2008 03:55 PM
I hate those bettles. I have not noticed too many down here yet. Please keep them up North.:D
I just heard back from my neuro's office and he is upping my neurotin by 300 more mg at night. I already take 600 mg, three times per day. I have been experiencing increased buring/tingling on my forearm and on the top of my head for about three weeks, and it is driving me crazy. Seriously! I can handle the burning in my arm, but it really bothers me when I am experiencing it on my head. I know it sounds weird, but it feels like my scalp is burning.
I hope everyone has a good weekend, and I will check back in when I get back on Sunday. I hope the leaves are pretty in the Quad Cities. They really have not changed much here yet. We are going to stop on the way to go shopping at an outdor mall outside of Peoria. I have never been there, but it looks nice. I am going to try to help the economy out by shopping.:rolleyes:
weegot5kiz 10-09-2008 04:26 PM
i thought those were raisins in my cereal:yikes:
not many here either? but we got lots of wild cats coons hairy rats aka as squirrels and all sorts of critters
vonn glad it was just a battery
Char I wanted to say sorry about the MS bugs, i had them a day or two ago too, hate those non existent, realistic physiologically prevalent bugs
you know i cant type everything anymore on here:rolleyes: deb will see me type about how dang near blind i was last night glad there was no traffic,(we forgot my cane and glasses) but this still beats deb driving without ms :yikes: see i cant type things like that anymore:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
I am still dragging, guess this to be expected, I have been doing so well with not over doing it as of late and not suffering burn out days, i have not had a crash and burn day in a while,
it felt good to know I could do it still whoo hooo, no no sillys not that.... felt good to know with pacing myself, we stopped about every hour for a few hit a bathroom get a red bull and continue, i did ok was about 6 hrs of driving last night and I had been up since 430am with just a short nap with deb for an hour, it was a nice feeling, I miss running in full gear for 20 out of 24hrs in a day
So now roll call Kay Weave Jmiller Debd Sharon Jeannie, where you all been lately hope all is well with you and yours. everyone I may not of mentioned sorry but :hug: still to all
have I mentioned how cool this thread is, of course i know what some suffer and or deal with each day but will admit there are times I have to double check because you are you and i am me and we are all together.... its just cool you are vonn you are trish sandy char kay deb you are not ms person or MG type of person, you are to me a name a face some times no face to the name, but you all are some one not just a number, for this thread I am thankful, it is a great place, with some wonderful friends, thank you all happy friday to all ......:grouphug::hug::grouphug::hug::grouphug:
Momma's Kids 10-09-2008 04:47 PM
I hope everyone is doing well. I missed you guys. I have to check around and see what's going on.
Hugs,
BECKY!!!!!!! :hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:
Debbie D 10-09-2008 07:31 PM
So sorry I've been away...lots of errands...took MIL to eye doc yesterday for glaucoma checkup...and well...
I went back into counseling today...just can't seem to get a grip...get so overwhelmed. Not sure if it's just the emotional thing cropping up again, or if it's a physical component...but it's good to get back into it. I got pretty bad last week...
I was seeing this therapist a few years ago when I began the empty nest syndrome...resolved a lot of issues concerning my parents' early deaths...now I can't seem to handle any pressures at all...so I think that getting back into counseling will aid me. Please pray for me...all prayers will be greatly appreciated!!
I've been doing a lot of my medical transcription work the last few days...need to catch up on it...but so stiff and tired...doing stretches as suggested by PT...helps a bit, thank goodness!! But it's so difficult to exercise and lift weights when I'm so darned stiff...I need to push through it to make myself stronger, but need to balance it with the avoidance of fatigue. You all know what I seem to be struggling with.:(
I hope all of you have a wonderful fall weekend...try, please, to take time to sniff the fresh autumn air, and take in the beautiful blue sky.:):)
To all of you with various issues: try to take care of yourselves...it's so important!!
SandyC 10-09-2008 07:33 PM
Debbie, I think we need another get together!!!! :hug:
Becky21 10-09-2008 07:56 PM
Hi ya Frank.
I am glad to be back. Tooth pain is much better. My Jaw is really sore but it's getting better everyday.:hug:
Barb....I hope you have fun on your weekend getaway. Don't overdo!!
