when ya got a sprained ankle, and can't get around much, it's time to play...

TEXT TWIST !!!

TextTwist High Scores - Today - Friday, October 10

1. kayleon 16,583,700 (Level 2505)

yeppers, you read THAT right, I'm queen of the world today, with a stunning SIXTEEN MILLION points!

and lol, right now, the children's band at the school on the corner is practicing the theme song from Hawaii Five-O.

the trumpeteer is MISSING the high notes, but he sure can blow that horn, baby...

The champion of the day was Succotz Festival Drum Corp (pictured below). Their show had a great Latin rhythm. Succotz, a small village in the Cayo District, has a great music teacher, many students with musical talent, and a lot of proud band parents. They had more than one band representing Succotz. I sat among the Succotz crowd in the stadium who were waving school pennants. I was radiant with glitter before the end of the show.

photo here at this Belize blog, scroll down to the bottom, last band:

the pretty girl in the front row is my next door neighbor Xenia (pronounced Shenya)

Kay that is great about Text Twist but gosh sorry to hear about your ankle!!!!! :hug:

I have the same legs you have the last couple of days..... who ever said Steroids are suppose to strengthen you are full of crap in my book! I hold on to everything walking around and have used the walking stick when going outside!

SandyC 10-10-2008 07:20 PM

Wiz, if Cheryl says it's OK then come on over! Overlook the house though when you come but rest assured the bathrooms will be clean. lmao

Dang, I guess I won't have time to clean my bathrooms then? :p Anyway, I'll find out what Cheryl says.

yeahbut 10-11-2008 07:29 AM

OK - what is going on? There have only been 2 post since I last posted last night???? :eek: Something just isn't right!

~~~~~
I sure hope everyone is ok!
I still have a terrible belly ache and wouldn't recommend eating an entire pie plate of apple crisp to anyone!
Today I am heading North to David's sisters house. I am going to take the camera for the leaves are in full peak if not a little over by now. But, still should get some good pics to share.
I need to get busy and start my HUGE toss salad to take for dinner tonight. David is going to meet me there so that will be nice.
Kay - David's nephew that will be there is the one who spent a month in Belize earlier this year. He is a great kid!
Have a great day everyone, I am sure I will check back in before I leave!
it feels good to actually feel good this morning!
yeahbut 10-11-2008 08:11 AM
as for FG snow she can keep it over there!!! I am not ready for it..... Char and Winter don't mix well!
I am feeling better this morning Frank, Thanks for asking. Still got the spasms but the pain is so much better! I have 5 days left of the roids, on the down slope and finally they are kicking in!
weegot5kiz 10-11-2008 08:23 AM
yeah i almost wished mine had given me more roids i felt better finally towards the ending of my dosage, I know why they didnt because he had said last time. i go iv next time, and think he wanted to see if small dose would help if not IV time
so the apple crisp turned out good huh:grin:
Vonn07 10-11-2008 09:37 AM
okay .. new day .. new idea ... not going to renovate an old school ... going to do it the slow way (sorta) ...
by next spring/summer :: be able to have enough $$ established and buy a 16x80 mobile home and set up in park just a wee bit north of GB ...
have a garage (aka::studio)
save enough to buy land in same area ...
build a garage/studio to run power to, stake out the land ... move trailer to lot (maybe) ... then build lighthouse ...
sell trailer -->> move into lighthouse ...
this could be a 2-3 year project ...
ya with me?? gotta sell plenty of projects in the meantime, with proceeds going towards the quilt corporation ... well, golly, the corp will need its place of its own ... hmmm, I'll be the keeper ... get it?? LOL
have a good day - lots to do again today ..
yeahbut 10-11-2008 09:57 AM
Vonn - I love the way you think! Keep those wheels turning, the spark in your fire and you can do what ever Vonn wants to do! Positive Attitude! :)
Frank - needless to say the apple crisp was wonderful. I am hoping both girls will be here for dinner tomorrow night and I am going to make another one - this time I will share. :p
The last time I had the IV roids but since no insurnance we opted for the oral. The IV certainly worked so much better for me and faster! The pain is what slows me down so with that gone I am feeling so much better. Energy level is up today too so that is a bonus!
It is a beautifull fall day here today! I am actually on the back porch sitting in the sun with my laptop with no coat on! and lovng it!
Vonn07 10-11-2008 10:05 AM
thanks, Char ... sitting out on the porch sounds *ma-vul-us* da'ling!!
good things are going to happen ... eventually it will all work out ... just received some good advice about the SSDI ... will call the NMSS on monday about getting a lawyer that's FAMILIAR with MS and SSDI ... sound like a good move??
I made CC cookies yesterday - the EASY way ... the pillsbury tube - the only mess are the cookie sheets! no stress ... and I used the oven for the first time! (uh, other than pizza) LOL
FinLady 10-11-2008 10:09 AM
Morning. :) A little rundown this morning, but I've only had one cup of coffee - LOL!
got a lot of projects artwise that need worked on this weekend, as well as everything else. Trying not to be overwhelmed with all that needs done, and am trying to remember the mantra "baby steps, baby steps".
Hope everyone has a great day! :grouphug:
~~~~~~~~~

Vonn, getting a plan in place is cool. :cool:

Char, glad to hear the 'roids are working

Kay, sorry to hear about the ankle. :hug:

CayoKay 10-11-2008 10:27 AM

mornin' Frank and Char!

hope things are going WELL for my two favorite over-doers!

Kell, did you hear back yet?

Cindy, thinking of you this morning, holding you close.

:hug:

Wiz, gee whiz, have fun cleaning the bathroom, I know I always do!

:p

NaeNae, how's little Olivia doing? and is Dayton all recovered?

Sarah, it's good that your sister Madeline's passing was peaceful... and I'm so glad you got to go and have a good visit with her before she went.

:hug:

Twink, it's cool that you got to see our caves on TeeVee!

Char, it's mega-cool that David's nephew visited here...

Debbie, how's Frank's leetle angel this morning? are your bug troubles clearing up? how is your son adjusting to being back home? is his black eye subsiding? and do you really believe that he hit it on a door? (I swear, when I worked at the women's shelter, that was what people *always* said...) that door sure gets around... (*sigh*) I hope that young woman didn't hit him, but the other things she did indicates it's possible, and it may be a long time before he's able to share all of his time away with you.

:grouphug:

hollym 10-11-2008 10:33 AM

I don't have much time, but wanted to address the steroids with Char. I ALWAYS feel like total crud when I'm on them - very weak and wiped out with rubbery legs / arms. It takes me about 2 weeks to really feel the benefits. It seems like they tear you down before building you back up.

Also, I would like to state how much I advocate the Neti Pot for sinus issues. It is SO different than a nasal spray which would force stuff back up. Because of how it flushes the stuff out, it is getting it out not up. I saw a whole demonstration wiht Dr. Oz that sold me on it. Also, my SIL has had such great benefits and needs no sinus meds now when she gets a cold and has not had a single sinus infection since she started using hers that I swear I will use one the next time I get a bad cold. She swears that it cut her last cold in half - she really only had cold sx for a couple of days instead of a week or more.

yeahbut 10-11-2008 10:41 AM

Thanks Holly, that is just how my body reacts to them as well. It is about 10 days now and I am just starting to feel the relief. I hear so many people say how much energy they get with Steroids but not I, I seem to be just the opposite. Glad to know I am not the only one.

Kitty 10-11-2008 11:00 AM

Good Morning everyone!!

It's a beautiful Saturday here but very windy. Gusts up to 30 mph!! :eek:

Well, I finally heard back from the Neuro's office. I actually had to call them on Friday because I had heard nothing. His nurse said he was in the other office but she would call him and get back to me before 5 PM. She called me back and said that he told her it had been 6 months since my last visit so I needed to come in and he would review my MRI with me then. :rolleyes: So...I have an appointment on Monday at 1 PM.

I am still really dizzy and lightheaded. I have continued to take my LDN (3 mg) every night. I hope there's nothing new to report but if there is I'll just have to deal with it. I really don't want to go back on the Beta but if I have to I will.

I'll be sure and let ya'll know what transpires at the appointment on Monday.

I'm not doing much today. I sent Kevin to the grocery store this morning. He's already called me three times asking about stuff on the list. I finally told him to just surprise me!! I might be sorry I said that! :p

Matt has gone to the GA game. I think they are playing TN today. It doesn't start until 3:30 I think so he'll be late tonight - if he comes home at all. He usually stays at a friends house that lives close to Athens when he goes to the games. I really don't even want to know what goes on at that house on game nights!! :eek:

Ya'll have a great Saturday and if it's cold where you are....stay warm. If it's warm....stay cool. It's both here depending on what time of day it is. I can't wait for the cooler weather to get here and stay!

:grouphug:

SandyC 10-11-2008 11:09 AM

Hi all! You guys are really too busy for me! I am putting away all the deck furniture today and cleaning the cushions. Then tomorrow, the garden and backyard cleanup. I did the front when I mowed the other day. I may to weed a little too. Busy weekend!

I also have an appointment Tuesday to change the oil and check the airbags on the van. Onstar, which came free for three years when we bought the car, sent me a warning that my airbags may be faulty. I think it's the side ones that were disabled to accomodate the modifications needed to make it accessible.

I hope everyone has a good weekend and stays healthy. I care about all of you and worry like your family. :grouphug:

yes.

definitely!

I sometimes think that they decline people, on purpose, to see if they'll wade through the MAZE, meaning, to test if they're really out of other options, and truly disabled.

this is from another state, and in regards to another question, but it's interesting nonetheless:

Smoothing the Application Process

Most initial SSI and SSDI applications are denied, but if the decision is appealed, the likelihood of approval increases significantly. The first appeal is a written request for a reconsideration. If the reconsideration upholds the denial, subsequent levels of appeal include a hearing before a federal administrative law judge, a review by an appeals council and finally a lawsuit in federal court. The denial can be overturned at any stage of the appeal process.

yes, it's truly amazing the research into this stuff... wish I had a laboratory, so I could carbon date my pottery sherds.

here's an article about our local pottery from last week's Science News:

Origins of Maya pottery material remain mysterious

By Sid Perkins - Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Analyses give clues to composition of ash, seek to identify its source.

ah, yes... I have an ankle ace-wrap, and am wearing my left AFO... that helps a lot.

:cool:

it's a cool misty morning in the rainforest, Amelio is putting the concrete posts in place for the pitaya now... (he's working one day a week for us)

:D

the morning chores are done, the house is swept, the critters fed, and hubby's off to the store for giant eye-bolts to affix my indoor laundry lines to the concrete pillars on my screened porch.

oh, and honey, I was just teasing you, I liked the BUG too, it's that it looked JUST like the bugs that always get through the screens, and adore coming to my computer screen and crawling around in small circles...

so, being in the buggy jungle and all, I really truly did think it was THERE on my screen, and couldn't understand why it wouldn't SMASH properly...

so I was getting worried about my vision, that I kept MISSING the sucker, 'cause it just kept crawling and crawling (like some demented Energizer Bug from Hades)

:hug:

glad your son is doing better, good to hear!

:grouphug:

but sorry he can't let go of her yet, just keep him busy with other things for a while, and go real easy on him, this is his first big heartbreak, and he's probably feeling very emotionally shattered.

:grouphug:

FranksAngel 10-11-2008 12:35 PM

Do you mean an "artist resume"? You can google it. There's a lot of good info out there. Look for university websites. They are the most current. It basically includes where you've shown your stuff, and if you have any classes you took.

Mine's a little short at this point, since I've only been in one art show and had no classes except HS. The downside of being self taught, LOL.

Best of luck, Vonn. :hug:

Vonn07 10-11-2008 03:22 PM

thanks, Jenn ... much of mine is ALL self taught too ... posting more quilts to my profile ... onward!!
