Dear SunshineGirl,
I have taken Lexapro. I recently read in Readers Digest that Lexapro and Zoloft are considered the most effective SSRI's. I don't recall any particular improvement on Lexapro above that of any other SSRI/SSRNI. As far as the other condition that you mention, I am afraid that I am not familiar with that. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. ![]() |

I take Lexapro, but I took it long before I got RSD. I was diagnosed with depression after I had a hysterectomy so, I don't know how it works with my RSD. Recently, my GP put me on Elavil and I can see a huge difference with that. I also take Xanax and Vicaprofen. I hope they can find something that helps with the burning soon.

Hi I was on Lexapro for depression but that was pre rsd and pain. For me it did not help with the depression but I do know others it does. It is a common drug for psychs to prescribe. I was on Zoloft too with rsd and pre rsd which is also a very common one I'm not the best to go on as I am a hard person to get medicated. I was on Elavil too which my neuro put me on and that is supposed to assist in sleep for some as well. Have you tried Cymbalta I am on that for depression and it helps with pain I guess?
Cindi have you tried Lyrica or neurnotin for the burning pain |

I take Cymbalta, and it helps with the burning pain, as well as depression. It also assists with Fibromyalgia. Many diabetics take Cymbalta to ease neuropathy...which is burning pain.
Hope you get relief soon. ![]()

I've been on anti-depressants and they didn't do squat for the pain. I tried the older type first (tricyclic ones) and the only thing they helped me with was sleep. The doctor didn't want to risk the side effects for a somewhat improved sleep and he was right. I also tried SSRIs later but I couldn't stand taking them and couldn't get used to them - they also didn't do a thing for the pain.

For me going back to the psych and getting on the mental meds was not so much about it taking away my pain or assisting with that though let me tell you I would be grateful but about learning to cope better with the pain. For awhile I felt what was the point of going to the psych. If someone could take my pain away and the constant health conditions I would be happy but that was not happening and I was loosing my mind. So getting me on the meds for the mental side has helped me be more rational, less anxious, and depressed though of course to a "normal" person they would not think so but in comparison better

None of the reuptake inhibitor antidepressants have helped my pain and all cause me bad sideeffects. Lexapro was the very best of the bunch though and actually helped the depression a little too. I also had some success with cymbalta with the depression but the side effects were much worse.
Most of the others just make me feel like I've got a smile painted on but I feel no better. |
